Nice microscope for young kids . I bought this microscope for my son for Christmas not really knowing how well it would work & it turned out to be a pretty nice one. The only thing so far that I wish was different would be the fact that it doesn't seem very durable only because it is so light in weight & it makes me a little weary! But so far it's been great! I even bought some prepared slides to go with it that he absolutely loves! My son is 7 & I would definitely recommend this to anyone else!

Only OK . For the price it is a good buy. I was not impressed with how well you could see the items with different magnifications. I was glad the slides were all made of plastic. For a first microscope for someone this is a good item. Very hard to get items in the viewing area.

Excellent learning tool . We gave this as a gift to 5 y.o. Removed age inappropriate objects first. He loved exploring the house and cat! His Mom and Dad explain the world in miniature, he is learing so much. We will be giving this to other grandchildren as well.

good toy! perfect for beginners! . I bought this toy for my daughter for Christmas and she loves it! I wish the frame was a little sturdier but over all i think it's great for beginners!
It's a mediocre microscope.... . After seeing a low rating on this product, I did read a few positive comments. You never can tell exactly how a product will measure up because so many reviews out there can be fluff.We purchased this for my 7-year old son for Christmas. He played with it quite a bit, and found the included slides interesting; however, the entire microscope is plastic and I'm expecting it to last hopefully one year before I'll be having to purchase one that is more solidly made.For the money, it's a good value. For longevity, it's not gonna make it.
Cheap . I was very disappointed with this purchase. The microscope is made of cheap plastic and the compartment for the battery is impossible to open without stripping the screws out. I bought this for the kids for Christmas, so I guess next time I'll spend the extra coin to get a real microscope and not a toy.
Cons Review
Cheap and Useless . I concur with the review from December 27, 2011. I purchased this for my daughter. One screw was instantly stripped. After installing batteries, it was then impossible to find the subject on the slide to even focus on it. I put on the slide a larger, more obvious thing to focus on, a part of a leaf, and it was still difficult. Your child will be bored/disappointed instantly.Sadly I bought this in October for an early start for shopping which means that I could not return it through the third-party vendor, Best Service Stores (the 30 days had expired). They refused to understand and even give me credit.So I rate 1-star for the merchandise and 1-star for the customer service.
