great for young child's and geriatric eyes . Bought this for my 3 year old grandson who still hasn't mastered magnifying glass use. I had a similar one for his 30 year old mother when she was his age. This one is better. The top stays on well when little hands are holding it. It allows viewing of the item easily from below and above. it is compact enough to carry easily in a backpack or purse. It seems substantial. Only problem is it is made of plastic from China which we are trying to lessen in our grandson's life. The 30 year old one was made in US, but alas, no longer.
