Smethport Pocket Chart Card Set Story Sequencing - Real-life sequences tell a simple story. Younger children can work with the picture sequences while older ones learn to recognize objects in the picture and match them to the words in the story sentence. Use these cards to improve vocabulary and verbal communication skills while learning to order events and sort with logical thinking.

It's "okay" . I originally purchased this item for my classroom. When it was sent to me, it was completely disorganized, and I had to spend about an hour putting all the matches together. However, I soon realized that they couldn't all go together because there were pictures on both sides, and they did not coincide with each other. For instance, if there was a set of 4 sequence cards with a girl raking leaves, on the other sides of the cards would be 2 cards with a boy making a sandwich, one card with a boy building a snowman, and another card with a girl playing with her dog. So while I could put the raking leaves cards together, the other 3 sets of cards could not. While my students enjoyed using them, it is actually a bigger hassle for me.
Smethport Pocket Chart Card Set Story Sequencing Reviews
The best sequencing cards available....but wish they were not double-sided . I have purchased so many different sets of sequencing cards on the market for my two kids with special needs, and this set by far is the best one. I like the fact there are sentences already printed on the cards, and they can be easily set up in the pocket chart. However, I really wish the cards were not double-sided. It took me a long time to sort out all the cards based on the "red side", and later I would have to mix and reorganize all the cards just for the "blue side". I would rather pay a bit more to have double the number of the cards. I guess I can always purchase another set just for the "blue side". Yes, I think I'll do that right now!
Smethport Pocket Chart Card Set Story Sequencing Opinions
Sequencing cards should not need an this much time to set up! . As others have written, it takes an adult a long time to sort out the sets before a child can use them.

The fact that the cards are double-sided makes the sorting process tedious. To make things worse, the sets of 4 aren't matched - i.e., if you have a complete set of 4 on one side, the other side is not a full set!

This is my first review after 10 years of amazon purchases - this was enough to warrant writing a review: this was not worth the purchase.
Could use a better design great after initial sorting . First off, there were a few weird duplicates in mine and I'm not sure if I'm missing a full sequence or just parts of sequences where these duplicates are since some of the sequences are different lengths and only one side is a duplicate. While this is a great price for so many sequences, it takes for EVER to sort through them to find a few complete sets for a child to work through. There is NO WAY you can hand this box to a young child and have them get through it on their own, though they might have fun picking up a few pictures and creating a story or trying to find matches. You need to sort out a few and hand it to the child yourself if you want it to be usable. Even as a matching game, there is just too much to go through for a preschooler. The cards are double sided which I thought would be great because I thought you would have one complete sequence on one side and one on the other. In reality, the first card in the sequence has the answer on the back and then the last three cards have the last three cards of another sequence requiring you to find the first card for that other sequence. They do have a different colored border for each side so I suggest setting aside some time to go through and put all the sequences together as follows- pick either the red or blue border and turn all the cards to that color. Start sorting into piles of matching sequences, setting the "first" cards of the other color aside. When that is done, flip them over so you can add the missing "first" card to the other side. Note: they also used the same characters for different sequences on occasion. Use bags or rubber bands or some sort of divider or chart to store these cards together so you never have to do it again. It will make more sense when you see them. I will still probably recommend the set because of the price but I will warn about the work to get set up. They are about the thickness of card stock so durability may be an option. Other than set-up, the sequences are great, there are a lot of different stories, and children seem to love them so it is still a good product... eventually.
Missing pieces . The product I received is missing pieces and I am unsure how to contact the seller. In addition to missing pieces, one card appeared to be dirty. I like the idea of this product, but was disappointed after it arrived.
Good if you have time to pre-sort it . Figuring out which cards go with what sequence is a pain because there are different scenarios on the front and back. You have to have the sets done before you show the individual sequences to your kid or else it's all chaos. I would recommend getting an actual pocket chart instead of just trying to do them on the floor.
The front/back juxtaposition is actually clever! . Some reviews complain about the blue-side sequences not mapping to the red-side sequences. Actually, if you include the overview cards that show all four images, then each five-card set has one same-colored story and an other-color overview; the overviews are on the reverse side of the first panel of the sequence. It works out. It did take me a few minutes to sort everything out, but it was fun and gave me a chance to familiarize myself with what stories were available.

The cards are a little thinner than I expected, but still very durable-seeming. The box they came in is much larger than it needs to be - it's big enough that the cards can lay flat while still partially attached to each other in rows of three. The stacked cards are maybe less than 4" high (which is actually a relief, since I didn't look forward to transporting that huge box everywhere).
