High Hopes (updated: Hopes Dashed) . UPDATE 2/5/11
- The plastic shell cracked and wouldn't stay together. This toy ended up being a bust for us. Trying the Wild Republic Science 3D Human Organs instead, it has solid plastic parts instead of squishy ones and seems much more suited to the job.

This was a Christmas present for my daughter who is almost 8 and somewhat precocious. It was the last gift to be opened, and certainly the most 'educational' (read: least "fun") of the bunch. If you are nearly 8 years old and a voracious reader, it's hard to beat books.. or fingernail polish.. or a Faux Bow that you can fire across the room in the general direction of your little brother ;)
Nevertheless, a couple days later we got into it and let me say: please make Space and Time available to play this, you will need it. We dove in a little before bedtime and it was far too involved to disassemble and reassemble in the 45 minutes we had available. It is not a hard concept and it does not take 'forever', but what we contended with was the following:
--- Like many toys, this one has ties that go from the front to behind the cardboard, necessitating a certain amount of wrestling with the toy to undo them so it can be played with
--- The transparent plastic shell of a body presumably is supposed to snap tight (front and back). I found that it sort of did, but it was difficult to align and even when aligned there was one snap that didn't really snap closed tightly. Possibly a manufacturing defect.
--- Once you remove the ribcage, all of the sticky viscera are too appealing to just let lie, and they will be extracted immediately, even if you haven't found the cleverly named "Organ-izer" card yet. Remember to pull this card out first.
--- If you are tired and not paying close attention, and haven't examined the order in which your own viscera are organ-ized lately, putting everything back together is going to take a while. We didn't have a while, so we kinda sorta guessed where things went, got the ribcage back on, and called it a night.
I still have high hopes that we'll be able to dig into this more and really have fun learning about the insides of the body. My daughter has a book that is teaching some anatomy and she's interested in the topic, so we'll give it another try and I'll post an update.
In the meantime, just a heads up that this toy may be best delivered to patient, meticulous children who have enough time to enjoy it, and it will probably only rank as a "Wow!" gift for Future Doctors of America. ;)

Nerdy Fun for Everyone . Got this for my daughter for Christmas and she positively squealed with delight over it. The cards are very informative. The body comes apart and the insides are all squishy like you'd expect. A wonderful learning toy. The skull is a bit fragile and the jaw likes to pop off.

SmartLab Toys Inside Out The Human Body Opinions
Educational and Fun at the same time. . I am always looking for toys that are educational and yet fun at the same time. I find it more interesting to interact with my child and his toys if I know that he is getting something more out of it than he has to put into it. Another words if he is learning something that can impact his future in a positive way as opposed to say shooting at things or just mindless entertainment. This Human Body Kit does just what I was looking for. It also has that ewww factor that many kids totally enjoy.

AWESOME!!! . This is well worth the money!! I am so impressed!!! My kids will be learning so much while playing!!! :-)
Cons Review
Activity Cards missing . I was very excited to get this product for my 9 yr old son and he was thrilled to receive it. However, the promised activity cards were missing from the package which really cuts down on how much he can learn and the "play" value. Other than that, it is a great product.
Smart Lab . This is the first toy my daughter played with on Christmas, She got a lot to choose from, but played with this one! Great for kids to play and learn
