Good kit . This is a good kit however it did not come with any instructions. With a little bit of searching you can easily find some. It is not assembled so be ready to solder. Mine was missing one resistor but luckily I had an extra one lying around. They are supposed to be mailing me a replacement but I couldn't wait.

Just to let you know...

// Direction pin for motor B is Digital 12
// Speed pin for motor B is Digital 9 (PWM)
//Diretion pin for motor A is Digital 13
//Speed pin or motor A is Digital 10 (PWM)

at least I think....it seems to work for me
Motor control shield KIT for Arduino Reviews
Great board a challenge to find instructions . OK, so this is an Arduino-related product and apparently it's part of the tradition not to include any documentation... but really! No packing list, no invoice, no nothing. Checked the Amazon NKC ELectronics storefront for instructions; nothing. Checked the Arduino website; puzzling because there are several motor control boards, all similar but nothing quite matching this one. In desperation I Google'd; again nothing that matched. Finally I looked at the shipping label on the box it came in and found a URL. Once you get to [...] you will find excellent and comprehensive instructions. And it's a good thing because the board has many open un-used component locations marked. Without detailed instructions you'd think half the pieces were missing.

So the story has a happy ending and the little board works just as advertised, but I don't know why NKC made it so hard.
Motor control shield KIT for Arduino Opinions
Motor Control Shield is great. . The motor control shield for Arduino is a great kit. However, the picture is not completely accurate. The six total capacitors are all different models from the picture, but my kit works great. Also, they only ship five resistors so two of the ones in the picture are left out. I've tested it and it works fine. My only complaint is that the capacitor nearest the USB jack has leads that touch the metal jack, depending on how you solder it. I saw it too late, so I put a small strip of electrical tape over the jack just in case.

Here's a website that provides pictures on it's assembly and a sample code for testing purposes:

Overall a 5/5.
Ok product but . As described in the ads, but completely lacking in documentation. One page with some basic information would have worked wonders. An URL would have even been better. There was nothing. However, if you spend the time you can find out what you want to know using Google. I suppose for the price .....
Good Little Controller . I own 8 or 9 of these now. They used to be red in color but have changed to white circuit boards but are the same great little controller as before. It is based on the dual H Bridge L293 chip, which is simple to use. This is a kit, so be prepared to do some soldering of components to the circuit board, however, a knowledge of electronics isn't really needed. There is a web page dedicated to the assembly process which takes you through the process step by step. It takes about a half hour to complete. The shield is controlled by Arduino and is shield plug compatible with the Adruino footprint. Sample code is available with the assembly instructions. It is useful to control a pair of low voltage DC motors drawing an amp or less of current. I use the controller to drive autonomous robotic devices with wheels or tracks, but the controller is good for regulating motor loads for any number of purposes. In use they're fairly rugged, which is to say they have, in my applications, survived lengthy duty cycles over a long time. For a general purpose motor driver, this is a good product. Always inventory your kit prior to assembly. Don't be surprised if it appears you are missing parts, the board is multi-use and so not all component footprints are used on the board.
Motor shiled for Arduino . Chrome says the assembly page is dangerous, but it works OK. It says that only 14V motors can be controlled.
There was no male socket in the kit, so I couldn't use it immediately.
There is no documentation, what other parts can be installed on the board, because half of the board is empty.
Otherwise it was easy to assemble and power up, and it works OK.
Horrible do not buy this.... . The engineer who designed this, D. Cuartielle, should be well, servery reprimanded - SHAME. I suppose we all make big mistakes in out life and some them of are public, but this was his. For one thing, the pads that connect to ground are not thermally isolated, so it is really hard soldering this.
Next then whole encoder thing is useless, so half the board is a waste.
As has been pointed out, the schematic is wrong, I ended up ohming it out to figure that out. How do you manage that? Also, the directions to assemble it are hard to find and not very clear.
I spent too much time messing with this cursed thing.

Where you hook up the motors is too close to the chip and the holes are too small, and is only labeled motors with no indication of how to connect them.
This guy some how figured you would power the motor off the 9v, and left no provision for hooking up either different voltage and or a beefer supply (it is a bad idea to run the MCU and motors off the same supply).
So if you read this and buy it anyway, good luck!

So where's the docs part list..... . Unpleasantly surprised to find nothing but components. I checked here after I purchased the kit to find others with the same complaint. What really ticks me off is that AMAZON has suppressed the URL's to the research others went through to find the solution. So what's up with that AMAZON? Funny I see an Insert a product link button right above this window. So no help URL, but we can let you advertise for us in your comments.
NKC Motor Shield . This motor shield works flawlessly and is very easy to assemble. Soldering the components was a great learning experience. I suggest buying stackable female headers to allow the use of additional shields and provide easy access to other pins that might be needed. A great assembly guide can be found here: [...]
Motor control Shield - A little disappointed . I was expecting this kit to be pre-assembled but that was not the case, hence 4 stars. The brighter side of this shortfall is that its going to be a good learning experience in soldering and assembling circuit boards.
