Perfect model . This solar system model was almost perfect for our needs. My 3rd grader had to build a solar system model for school. My work schedule that week would have left us without enough time to complete the project using the "household items" instructions sent home to build it. This model was easy and fun for my daughter to put together with her dad and brother's help one weekend while I worked. The model was the perfect size also. It was small enough to be carried to school easily and would not take up too much room at her desk, yet large enough to be able to see the details of the model.
The only problem we had with it was that it did not include Pluto (I guess since pluto's not considered a planet anymore). Her instructions for the project stated that she must include pluto, so we used a pipe cleaner and a small bead to add pluto. I would like to have been able to choose a kit that had an option to add or leave out pluto. I looked through all of the models you had to offer, and the ones that appeared to include pluto were either too large or too expensive for such a project.
The shipping costs were a little steep since I needed to get it pretty quick. That much for shipping would have stopped me from ordering it if I had had more time for building one.
By the way my daughter said that her teacher was very pleased with her model and had asked where she got it. My daughter told her amazon.com.
Thanks,

Toysmith 4 M Solar System Planetarium # 3427 Reviews
Solar System . You know I almost did not buy this because of the reviews for everyone. First let me say that this is NOT a toy. This is not something to be played with like you would a car or Barbie. This is an education toy that sits and waits till you need to use it for school. this is what I bought it for and this is what it was manufactured for.

Second, the parts are smaller then I thought they would be, BUT, not so small that my 8 year old could not handle it. I do recommend you use your own paint brushes. You know how these children kits are, the brush is so huge that there is no way you can do any detail work. I happen to have a brush set for my child and we just used that.

Lastly, I think this was well worth the money. We were going to put together one of those Styrofoam ball solar systems, but this is WAY better! It is not hanging from my ceiling and it comes to the table every Tuesday and Friday when we learn about our solar system. Even my 5 year old is starting to understand the solar system and this educational toy has been a great help in learning about rotate and revolve.

I highly recommend you give this a try, especially if you are a home educator or a parent who just wants to spend some time with your kids learning about the solar system. For the price, really what do you have to loose but a little time having fun painting it and putting it together with your children!?!?!
Toysmith 4 M Solar System Planetarium # 3427 Opinions
solar system toy review . The toy was ok for my son's solar system project - however it was very flimsy - one of the planets broke as we were assembling it. Then it comes with a glow in the dark paint - which dosen't even work!
Wasn't the best buy....
Solar System Planetarium . This little planetarium model is small, but is perfect for my 4 year old grandson. We sat down w/him, because the planets have to be hand painted, which is a perfect way to get everyone involved. Great model for the price.
My six year old was very pleased. . My daughter is in first grade. We were in the process of moving into a new home, but she still wanted to enter the Science Fair at her school. I didn't want to do anything too stressful, the move was stressful enough. So we decided to do research on why Pluto is no longer considered a planet. Easy, simple.

This model was the perfect visual aid. It was easy to assemble, and it's a lot of fun for her to manually rotate the planets around the sun now that it is complete. Our only problem was that the portions of paint provided were very small. Certain colors (brown and orange) are not included, and when we mixed them using other colors... we wasted too much and ended up with not enough yellow in the end.

Great product, especially for such a low price. Just be careful. Don't waste the paint!
KIDS LOVED THESE . I bought each of my kids a kit. These are not only fun but they are educational. The kids got to read a bit about each planet.

The kid included the paint, all peices, mini sandpaper and everything required. You did not need any additional peices to build this. The sandpaper helps the paint stick to the plastic planets. My kids liked that they could change how the planets were set up and which was positioned where.

This is a great kit when your child is learning the solar system in school or better to give them an introduction before that lesson starts!
Great educational toy! . My soon to be 5 yr.old grandson is into anything space! He absolutely LOVES this toy. It has over 1000 facts and questions. He already knows that Jupiter has 63 planets and he's only had this toy for one day! I would recommend this toy for any space loving child!!
Solar System Planetarium . I thought this would be a learning experience for my 8 year old. Instead it was frustrating and boring. The snap together planets did not work very well. The instructions were not clear. There was not explaination of how the planets should line up. Too much guess work.

Cons Review
Solar system knock off . Grand kid was studying in school. Excellent idea but way too small for small fingers to even attempt to paint. Good visual for each planet in Solar System with the correct perspective and molded in detail. Assume that all planet revolve in the same plane is a neat concept. Good visual demonstration but too small and too delicate to go the distance. Chinastan got us again.
Wait for sale price - entertaining but flimsy . We bought this before Christmas for 3.99 and at that price, it is PERFECT. My 6 year old couldn't wait to put it together (even though I was dreading the painting mess) and he is really proud of the results. At the lower price, it was a great stocking stuffer.
