Geodes were formed millions of years ago when prehistoric volcanoes erupted and gas bubbles were trapped in the lava. The result is a science phenomenon-incredible crystal caverns within each exciting geode. When kids gently hit one of the geodes with a hammer, it will break open to reveal a hidden mineral treasure. Kit includes safety goggles and 15 geodes from 3 different mines which might contain quartz, fluorite, calcite, or even amethyst crystals! Geodes range in size from 1.5"-2".

Wow includs safety goggles . My children had TONS of fun breaking these geodes open, and I liked the fact that the kit included safety goggles. I'm glad we got the ultimate kit. There were a number of differences in the crystal formations inside, and it was fun to compare the crystal treasure.

my 10 year old was fascinated with this kit! . I bought this for my 10 year old who has recently become fascinated with collecting uniquely colored rocks. This kit is fantastic, my son had a blast breaking these rocks open and then spent hours afterwards carefully cleaning each one and admiring the crystals. These geodes are now his "new" rock collection, he totally forgot about his old one!

This rock kit was a huge hit! . My kids loved cracking open these geodes. We found really nice crystals inside. Excellent quality geodes. We've cracked some open before at our county fair, but these were better and having 15 of them was great!

Excellent Geode Kit!! . This science kit was a huge hit at our house. The kids loved cracking them open and the crystals inside were beautiful. I am glad that we bought the ultimate kit because it was nice seeing the 3 different types of crystals. The guide book was well done. Certainly a fun time had by all.
My Son is Using Geodes for the Science Fair! . We bought this for our six year old for Christmas. He is very interested in rocks and was so excited to get out the hammer and break them open. Once he got the hang of it, he didn't want to stop cracking them open! He listened so intently as I read the booklet describing the formation of geodes. He is even using it as part of his science fair project!
Great Fun With the Kids . I bought a few different sets of Geodes for my kids for Christmas. These were by far the best quality Geodes and they were larger than I expected them to be. Each one cracked open to reveal a large cavity with great crystals. They took some effort to open but the results were great. We used some books I bought as well as the included pamphlet to identify the type of crystals. They have added these to their rock collection. This was much more fun then just buying the already cut rock samples as they got to do this themselves.
More Proof That Science is Fun . Fantastic, fun and educational are three words that immediately come to mind when describing the Ultimate Geodes Science Kit to friends and family. It can be difficult trying to convince children that educational toys and games can be fun but once they crack open the rocks and discover the crystals underneath they will be convinced. It's also fun for the adults! Another great science kit from Dr. Cool!
This Geode Kit is awesome! . This Geode Kit is awesome! My kids love it for how much fun they had with the process of breaking open each geode and looking at the sparkling crystals inside each rock, and I love it becuase I was able to introduce them to a little bit of geology in a fun and interactive way.
SO MUCH FUN! . This geode kit was awesome. The crystals were wonderful and the kids had a ton of fun cracking them open. This was a great science activity for the entire family. From the moment they started cracking the rocks open the kids were engaged and interested in this product. The had fun comparing the crystals they found to the ones in the guidebook. I think they enjoyed identifying them almost as much as they enjoyed cracking them open. Huge hit and highly recommended!
pretty amazing collection of geodes . I should of saved this Geode Kit for Christmas, the kids absolutely loved it. Of course they had fun smashing the rocks open and the crystals that appeared on the inside of each rock were pretty amazing to look at. Highly recommended for all parents!
