Durable high quality magnets . This is a great set -- it comes with two horseshoe magnets, a bar magnet, a vial of iron slubs and a vial of iron filings. The magnets are durable -- despite being dropped on tile floors and outside on the concrete. Recommended for anybody.

Strong magnets good kit overall . I wanted a magnet kit for some simple science experiments for my 7-year old daughter.
This kit had everything I was looking for: 2 horseshoe magnets, 1 bar magnet, a tube of iron filings and a tube of (very) tiny steel pieces.
The magnets are small but strong. A booklet of magnet related experiments would have been a big plus. Overall, a decent value for money.

The Magnets are too small . I bought the set for the science project I'm doing with my kid. The magnets are way too small to do actual science experiment. It's a nice toy if your kid just wants to play around. I couldn't make a compass out of it. We tried to make needle magnet, but it didn't last more than one and half minutes.

Great for science fair school project . I bought this kit for my 8-year old boy science project focused on magnetism. The kit comes with nice magnets and good iron filings to visualize magnetic field. My son and his friends played with it for a while but got bored shortly thereafter. Great kit for educational purposes and (somewhat limited) fun.
Educational Value Lacking . Good solid magnets. It needs a good booklet on experiments and magnets to be educational. A booklet is needed oriented to children with pictures etc. Science Wiz is much better.
Science Project . This was very useful for my daughter's science project. Good size for transport back & forth to school & she liked the variety of magnet sizes.

Like other reviewers, I agree that the quality of the magnets is good, and the magnets are durable. The kit comes with a two inch horseshoe-shaped magnet, a one-inch horseshoe-shaped magnet, a two inch bar magnet, and also a tube of iron filings, as well as a tube of very tiny steel pieces. I also agree that a basic book on magnets would have been very helpful. I purchased several titles to give my daughter basic information on magnets, presented in an interesting manner:
