8 x 12 Green Magnetic Field Viewing Film, Fun! Info - Encased within the green film are millions of magnetic particles suspended in oil. The viewing film will become lighter or darker when a magnetic field is applied. It turns dark when the field lines are perpendicular to the surface, and it turns light when the field lines are horizontal, i.e., across the surface. If a magnet is placed under it, with one of the poles facing the film, it will show the magnet as dark with a light outline. The film is highly flexible and can be easily wrapped around objects.

Not as cool as I thought it would be . Unless you have some really strong magnets, you will probably be disappointed with this. It only works if it's touching (or close enough that it might as well be touching) the magnets. The iron filings don't have a neutral position and maintain the image that was last imprinted by a magnet. It doesn't really show you the magnetic field lines, either. You'd be better off getting some iron filings and sprinkling them on paper instead.
It's probably pretty cool if you're high or don't want to bother with the mess of iron filings (or both), though.
