Dig for dinosaurs at your kitchen table! . If your child loves dinosaurs, you *must* buy this.I bought this for my 4-year-old son because he eats, sleeps, breathes dinosaurs. Inside a brick of clay lurks the "skeletons" of two velociraptors. The kit includs a digging/scraping tool and brush for my little paleontologist to literally dig the two skeletons out of the brick. The booklet included in the kit is extremely well-done; it discusses dinosaurs and velocirators' living and eating habits, shows the different pieces of plastic skeleton that were buried within the clay, gives tips on identifying and how to record findings, and gives instructions for putting the pieces together to make complete skeletons.I have to admit that the clay is very hard, and scraping takes a very long time--so we gently tap away chunks of the clay using a tack hammer and small chisel. I do most of the scraping, and he does the brushing. The brush isn't big enough, so the buyer might invest in a much bigger paintbrush (or old blush brush). The best part is discovering yet another bone. They are exciting to find, challenging to extract, and very fun!
Educational Insights Velociraptors (GeoSafari Dino Digs) Reviews
Neat idea. . This was a lot of fun for my 6 yr old son. Even my 12 yr old girl helped dig for bones. It is definitely messy (lots of dust) but easy to clean up. The only complaint I have is the dinosaurs do not stay together very well once you assemble them. It would also be fun if you could put the bones back into the "earth" and dig them up again. But overall, it was fun for both kids to do together. They didn't even argue!

My Son Loves This! . I bought this for my 8-yr old son who says he wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up. I love that it was not necessarily easy to uncover the bones, he did it little by little over several days. Yes it was messy that didn't bother us, easy clean up. The bones were flexible so you didn't have to worry about breaking them as you uncovered them. We also used a little chisel to help as someone else had noted. We are just putting it together today so I can't yet vouch for how well it will stay together. Taking other's comments into consideration though.
5 stars overall . My 10 year old daughter has done 3 of these and keeps asking for more! Fun all around, only reason its rated 4 stars for durability is because withone of them, the jaw kept falling off and the dinos kept falling over on the platform. The wax was great for the joints, but they need to make something softer stick the dinos onto the platform with. Small probs that were fixed with sticky tack.
AWESOME! I dig it more than kids!!! . This is an awesome toy and I think I will buy a few as the staply b-day gift for this year. We had some good family fun with it and the info on the animals in the dig is informational. All around great buy!!

Cons Review
My kids are begging for more . I got my daughter a Dino Dig of a T Rex skull three years ago, and since that Christmas she and her girl cousins (age 6 8 and 10) are all asking for more. They love the fun of hands-on science and discovering the bones inside, whether it is a baby dino in an egg, a footprint, skull, etc. It is messy, but afterwards you can bury your fossil (and other stuff) in the sandbox, water it, let it dry for a few hours, and play archaelogist all afternoon. It sure beats the art kits little girls usually get, both for fun and educational value- I'd rather my daughter engage in an archaelogical endeavor than make yet another bracelet or unicorn painting. She is ten now and still loves this line of toys - has a cabinet full of "fossils" to show off, too, and most important, a growing love of science.
