Nice set of planets. . We got these for our 4 y/o old for the her birthday. She thinks they are great! My husband and I are happy with them as well. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
*You can either stick them to your ceiling because they are flat on one side OR you can buy a second set and they have the ability to be stuck together back to back so you can hang them from strings or make a mobile. That is why you might want to buy a second package--depends on what effect you are going for.
*Be prepared to go to your local craft store and buy some poster putty. The adhesive that came with them was awful and they were all falling. Poster putty is perfect for these and they are secure now-a cheap and easy fix.
*The Sun is very small in proportion to the planets--only about twice as big as Jupiter.
*The surface of the planets are textured to accurately represent what each planet looks like but this does not show up when the lights are off and they are glowing. Looks like a bunch of round disks of different sizes and one with rings (Saturn, of course!). That is not really surprising though and we didn't feel like it took anything away from it--our daughter certainly didn't mind!
*You have to expose them to an artificial light source before they will glow. Didn't take long to get the desired affect. The glowing does not last all night long but we didn't see that as a problem, either.I really feel these are worth the money and my only complaints are that the sun is way out of proportion to the other planets and of course my child would have loved it if Pluto would have been included. There's just something very charming about a dwarf planet to a little kid and excluding it because it is small seems contrary to making something for kids.

glow planets . If you buy this for any educational use you have to buy two. I'm guessing you could hang them and make it fun.
Cons Review
The planets are falling! . I agree with the 5 star review that points out that the adhesive is inadequate for installing these planets. But I think this is much worse problem than they do. It's not the adhesive; it's that the planets are hollow, so there's nowhere for the adhesive to stick to except the thin edges (and the tiny connectors for making a mobile). Basically, the makers of this toy were too cheap to put at least some solid plastic on the back so that the adhesive they supply has a place to go. As a result half the planets fell down within 30 minutes of putting them up. As the 5 star review points out, you'll need to go buy adhesive separately from what they provide to keep the planets from falling on your loved ones. What were the makers of this thinking? Did they test this product at all?
