This lovely telescope is crafted from brass and will magnify far away objects and landscapes with a clear image. The scope extends to approximately 15.5" long. It can retract to fit into its own ornate wooden box. Due to this item being hand finished, some minor differences in cosmetic appearance may occur.

Galileo is credited with inventing the first refracting telescope. Through his understanding of how light passes through a lens, he was able to construct a device that focused on an image and enabled the user to see an object as though it were brighter, clearer or closer.

The magnification of this brass telescope is 12x.

Great Microscope; Faulty On/Off Switch . This is an excellent microscope for a budding scientist or entomologist. We bought it for our 6-year-old son. It's durable and sturdy, and the optics allow for decent magnification of insect legs and heads, rocks, sticks, and other 3D objects in addition to slides. It is not high-powered enough to view blood cells or other microscopic samples, but it is a good starter microscope for the price. My only complaint is that the on/off switch is a bad design. It's a small push-button that jammed inside the instrument the first time we used it. The light still works but only by jabbing the now-barely-visible button with a pencil or other sharp object. Aside from this design flaw, I'm happy with this microscope.

Endless Combinations of Fun and Learning . I purchased these weighted numbers for my grandchildren in conjunction with the pan balance. It is a perfect learning toy for a toddler that grows w him/her. There are multiple uses for the weighted numbers... if you purchase a second set the child can be introduced to number recognition by tangibly finding the matching number or placing like numbers on opposite sides of the balance scale to see if they are even and match! As their skills grow the child can do number combinations i.e. 4 and 3 for 7. An art project can also be incorporated by tracing the numbers with a pencil. The uses are limited only by your imagination.

Great for science project . The only downside was one of the tests, Pesticide, did not return a result for all four water tests. However, I emailed the company that makes the test and customer service promptly offered to ship new test strips for that test. The CD contains a summary of each of the contaminates testing, which I had made my son research on his own. The CD summary was a nice overview and I let him cite some information off the CD since it was very easy to understand, and cetainly more at his level than some of the information gathered from some of the technical websites.

Rawr! . My preschooler, kindergartner, and grade school-er all love when I bring these down. They play naturally (sans coaching or prompting) with them at each of their own development levels: Colors, type sorting, counting, adding and subtracting, and grouping/ dividing them between each other. Play with these lasts them at least 30 minutes and they pick up nicely back into the tub. I expect these will last us many years and pass on to share with nieces and nephews too.

love it! . I love this journal! It's a perfect gift for someone who loves to travel and I appreciate that it is made from recycled, cruelty free material. magnetic blocks . My first interaction with this manipulative left my 2nd grade students wanting more exercises in adding with regrouping. This helped them to understand the concept of regrouping. They were able to understand with clarity the reason for going to the next higher group to complete the problem. An excellent resource that every educator should have.

Perfect Size . Absolutely love the size of this product, it's actually better than I expected. It's easy to put away and does not take up much room.

Not complete enough for all our homework . We use these at home to reinforce what the kids are doing at school. The pieces are big enough to use in front of a class, but still a great size for home use. They all store away flat in a gallon size bag. Don't take up much room at all.The only problem is, there are only 10 "tens" strips. The homework problems in the kids' base ten lessons go up to 99 + 99. You can't demonstrate 99 + 99, or even 50 + 60, using the tens in this set. The whole point of the set is to demonstrate the ten place value using the tens strips. I'm giving it a high rating, because 10 tens is standard for a base 10 set. But I feel like for the price of this set, they should include enough tens strips to do all double-digit problems up to 99 + 99. Especially because they don't sell extras seperately.

Nice quality open ended toy . My 6 year old son with autism and neurotypical 4 year old sister have a great time playing with this. It helps establish pattern recognition, counting along with learning what some, none and all are in a tactile way. We have owned this set for just over 3 months and we come up with more ways to play with it all the time.

I thought they would be inch cubes, but they are 2 centimeters. I especially like the cards with 3D structures that my students must do some thinking about to build.
