Great learning toy . My 11 year old son is very into putting things together so I got this power house for him so he could build and learn at the same time. He was very careful with the pieces (they're made of styrofoam). I would say a younger kid may have trouble with the durability but it's been perfect for him. He has learned a lot.

Power house is a great way to learn . My 9 year old daughter used this for a science fair project to demonstrate residential solar energy. The solar panels are surprisingly strong. The manual and materials are easy to use and understand. We supplemented this with a number of resources on the internet to really understand how a solar panel generates electricity.

for an older child . I got this for my eleven year old. We do the projects together, but I think to get the most out of it, it is for 13 and up.

Don't buy this project . hello we are students and we bought this project thinking it would come out great but unfortunately we were disapointed . the reason is that the manual book is to vague, the parts don't fit in correctly also satin and it is not durable. we thought that the project was going to be nice especially the solar power pannels the pannels don't even charge and there is nothing to light up. about the manuel the instuctions were not instructions they were more telling and explaining. the paper parts were even confusing.its alot of money we wasted on this project and sorry to say this but we would like our money back!! we are students and we give this a no star rating :) oh from the picture it looks nice but actually its not worth it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not durable . this would have a great benefit if it wasnt made out of syrofoam, maybe make the outside plastic and the inside styrofoam, because my daughter is using this as her senior project on green homes/going green, and she nearly broke it in half just by trying to put it together. not well made if you ask me, but she did learn a lot from the experiments.

Solar Home Project . I purchased this Solar Home Kit for my 9 year old son and one of his buddy's for a science project. He and his friend actually put the whole project together with no help from an adult from start to finish. The only adult supervision they recieved was to ensure their safety and for guidance.

Terrible Ordering Experience . I am sure the kits are going to be great but we ordered them through our school with no problem but when I went to order one item from Amazon, I was billed for three more kits! Customer service is somewhere else in the world something where they do celebrate Christmas and could care less about getting my money returned to me.

Good Project for the budding solar engery scientist . We purchased this item for our budding scientist. He just started working on the home and he enjoys constructing the house and checking the temperature. I have to check how much he can accomplished so I can provide more feedback. For myself, I wish the house was not constructed by foam since it can easily be chewed on by a little tyke.

Fun and Educational! . The Primary Science Mix & Measure Kit is full of five cups, three measuring spoons, a bowl with lid, a scale and ten activity cards. The first thing I did was set up all the items on the bathroom counter (luckily we have the room) and let my boys play on their own. I wanted them to be comfortable using the cups and seeing how much water goes in them. They had so much fun doing this and it was actually nice for them not to use my measuring cups! The cups and spoons in this set are also very kid-friendly and easy to hold. I am thinking too these will be fun when we can outside and not worry about messes!So now your probably thinking, "Okay they are playing with measuring cups, now what?" Well the set includes ten activity cards that give parents all sorts of ideas to get kids thinking, learning and having fun! The cards have activities such as having kids fill them up to see how two containers of different shapes can hold the same amount, how a whole can be made, and understanding the weight of different objects. My favorite though is the recipe cards as I am so not crafty! There are cards for Mystery Goo, Bubbles, Puffy Paint, Trail Mix, Three-Day Clay and Slime Stencils!Overall, this set includes not only the tools you need but also the ideas for activities. I do wish though the scale that it included had numbers on it instead of colors, so it was more like a real scale. The cups though are all high quality plastic and definitely standing up to the roughness my boys have been putting them through.

Great for the young scientist! . I bought this for my 12-year-old for Christmas. He's been having a ball with it, and learning a lot. My only complaint was that it didn't come with something to organize all the little pieces. But I noticed that ahead of time, and was prepared with a small tackle box for him to put everything in. So far, he's been able to do most of the projects with minimal assistance.

Nice colection . Haven't had too much time to look at it myself but the one I bought it for has spent enough time reading through the history and how to do the experiments that I know it is well liked. Definitely a good buy for the inquisitive young science student.

Expensive but packed with content . This was our son's "big gift"; he's a 7 yr old who wants to be a scientist when he grows up. Highly recommend purchasing a tackle box or some storage solution to store all of its small parts. While we realize most of the stuff you could cobble together yourself, for us, it was just easier to purchase a science kit with all the parts. I knew the science experiment materials would be made of cheap plastic (and they were), but I was expecting a hardcover, sturdy book for this price. Unfortunately the "manual" is a flimsy paperback (why I rate this product a 4). However, the content of the book is great - jus wish it were more durable. So far we've completed 4 experiments and they've been easy to follow with great discussion questions. It's a lot of fun and very educational (not in a boring way).

Great Learning Toy . I got one of these when I was a kid and loved it! My 10 year old son wants to be an "Inventor" when he grows up and loves eletrical stuff,wires,batterys,light bulbs,little motors etc.. This Was My First Lab Kit Back in 1990 to the present time. . Back before Christmas of 1990, I was playing around with a 120 In One electronic lab kit. I liked it so much that I wanted my own for christmas. Back in 1987 I was given a small one, but I did not know how to use the spring terminals. My father got me the 200 In One lab kit, cause I was so interested in electronics and experiments. In 1991, I started playing around with it I built many projects with it, and learned the components. The main projects I used the most from 1990 to 1994 until it fell apart was the One Transistor Radio circuit. I started building this project when I was still interested in shortwave and AM radio circuits. The crystal set wasn't too loud, so I build this project and kept on experimenting with it. The One transistor radio project was picking stations from all around the world without tuning the variable tuning capacitor. It required a wire antenna on terminal 70 and it had to be strung across the room. I had a RF ground as well. In the daytime the a small amount of radio stations from the shortwave band came it if they were strong, but tuned the AM broadcast band. When I get another one of these kits, I will have to try to build this circuit on a breadboard if I can find the input transformer and Germanium diode. In 1992 to 1994 I started a real radio station using this kit, and was transmitting on various AM frequencies. This lab kit does more than radio circuits, it teaches you the basics of electronics, and also will show you the simple values of the resistors, capacitors, transistors, and diodes, and transformers. It does teach basic digital electronics such as electronic games, and simple 1 digit counters. Still this kit is worth a great education that you can use in your technology classes to pass the course in electronics. Without this kit, I don't know where I would be at, but the 200 In One sure gave a great advanced hobby in electronics, computers, and communications. Since I am using the AM broadcaster circuit, I will get another for the One Transistor Radio. I miss that circuit so much!

Great gift! . Bought this for my grandson last Christmas (10-1/2 at the time) and he is still building new things with it. A great supplement to science and math curricula and keeps him busy during those numerous Michigan snow days.

Ok but could be better. . This project kit is ok.
Everything works and the kit is well designed. The book is big and has good graphics but it really doesn't tell you much about electrons. You sort of end up just learning how to read a schematic and building some pretty lame products. I don't like to be negative but really if anyone is out there like I was I think before you spend eighty dollars you may want to reconsider what you're looking for. Are you looking just for a project kit to start to have a very basic idea of electronics? If so this kit is good for that but the price seems high for just that.

Great for my 12 year old . Great toy to introduce electricity to your child. I would say that they need to have a slight interest already otherwise the toy itself may not spark the interest as it takes some work and reading to build something. So if they are interested they will put forth the effort, otherwise they may not.

Animal hospital for kids who have pets . I bought this as a Christmas gift for my godchild who will turn 4 in March. She is very interested in animals and has already expressed a desire to be a vet. Admittedly I am a little biased but I think she is a very intelligent child and she loves the animal hospital. She had to get every piece out and examine it immediately upon opening it. I think this would be a very good experience for any child who is interested in animals. It allows them to see some of the instuments that a vet would use and they can set up their own little office. This is not to be used to treat real, live animals though. There are lots of pieces in the set so if you have a child who gets frustrated easily or has trouble keeping track of lots of pieces, this probably would not be a good selection for them.

Great toy . I bought this for my niece for Christmas. She got tons of toys at the same time but the one she kept playing with over the next few days was this one. It really spurred her imagination. She liked the hard plastic dog it came with (but every stuffed animal made a visit) and the "table" to put all the animals on. My sister liked that it zipped shut at the end of play with all the pieces inside.

Excellent toy! . I bought this playset as a gift for my six-year-old niece. I was impressed with the number of accessories that came with it (stethoscope, pretend shot, pretend medicines, animal collars, two plastic bandages, a cast, charts, cardboard treats). One really neat thing that got a "COOL!!" from my niece was the X-ray cards. When you put the cards behind the black X-ray, they show bones. The dog that came with the set is cute, but I am sure any child will put all of their stuffed animals through the vet's office...it looks like the kind of toy that will get played with again and again. I also like how the whole playset packs up into a flat carry-all.

Good product fun for aspiring vets . I got this for my five year old daughter. She wants to be a vet when she gets older. She really likes the toy and has enjoyed playing with it. Pros...nifty accessories to feel like a real vet...xrays are pretty cool...window that "opens" to greet visitors. Cons...puppy is plastic...not all the items will fit back into the pockets (like the puppy), so the item is not completely self-contained.

Awesome toy for a pet loving child! . This toy is perfect for a child that loves playing hospital. The X-rays are not the best and the plastic dog is just OK, but Beanie Baby dogs are the perfect size to fit (the cone is hysterical!)I thought the price was a little steep, but he has definitely played with it enough to justify the cost.

Daughter 8 and Son 4 love to play with this toy and the school house one. . This has multiple pieces but it is a very fun toy overall and there's lots of room for pretend play with this toy. I highly recommend if your child is interested in taking care of animals or the School house one if they are interested in being a teacher, my 8 year old uses this set to teach my 4 year old about school. It's a great way for them to play together without fighting.

The Vet is in the house! . My daughter is a huge animal lover, so we purchased this set for her birthday. It is a cute set. It has everything that an aspiring vet needs. The dog that it comes with is not so cute, it's plastic, but your child can use just about any stuffed animal she has. Webkinz and beanie babies are just the right size. My daughter uses ALL her stuffed animals for this set. They all line up for their check ups! While I thought this set would be a huge hit for my animal loving girl, she doesn't play with it very often anymore. When she first received it, she did, but as the days go on she has lost interest. When she does play vet now, she often will just bring out her small Dr. kit and not this set. As a Mom, I love this set because it's all contained and it's super cute. The price was great here at Amazon. I only paid $19.99 at Amazon. In stores it sells for much, much more.

Great for Pretend Play!! . My daughter received this as a Christmas gift and loves it. She loves the little bones and kibble as well as the little prescription bottles. She has been sending her beanie babies to the vet as well as her American Girl doll and her dog to the vet. It is a very nice toy, and when she is done it all folds up nicely. At first I was a little bummed because I could not get her the Barbie Vet Set as it was sold out everywhere, but this is much better because it just folds up nicely and can be stored anywhere.

Thames & Kosmos Archaeology Egyptian Pyramid . I purchased this archaeology kit for my daughter, who teaches fourth grade, and my grandsons, who are seven and nine years old. They loved it. It was educational, fun, and the boys loved helping Mom carefully excavate the inside of the pyramid. I don't believe my grandsons could have read the instructions and completed the tasks alone, but it was a great learning experience for all of them and a wonderful activity for the family.

Lots of fun great buy! . i was very happy with this excavation kit. although it created a bit of dust, i was able to do it in my living room on some newspaper with little clean up. the pyramid is clay with hardened sand inside. the artifacts are ceramic. 4 canopic jars, a sarcophagus containing a real-looking mummy with a death mask! this kit is good for kids 8 and older, i would even recommend this kit for adults, i'm 25 and i had alot of fun with it and the pyramid and the artifacts make great decorations for my Egypt themed living room! it was defiantly worth the price!

My 9 Year Old Liked it...It's a one shot deal though.... . This is a great toy, but once my daughter found the "artifacts" it lost it's lustre... It's fun for a bit, though.

Great gift . My 5 1/2 yr old nephew absolutely loved it. Lots of competition but this one took top toy honors at Christmas - he put on the safety goggles & left his other gifts alone for about an hour. He's very much into anything Egypt and this was not only fun for him, but educational. He had fun cracking the pyramid open and loved the mummy. It is a one-time find but he had fun and he is still playing with it.

Great educational value ! . Bought it for my 6 yrs daughter, she was excited to get this and super excited to play with it. This is one time use toy, reason being that once you open the pyramid and unearth the mummy/stuff, you would not be able to do it again.

National geographic did a splendid job in designing it, it even comes with the code and you have to break the code to open the pyramid - my daughter loved this part!

The kit comes with all the stuff you need for digging/cleaning and safety glasses - very thoughful. The kit even comes with a model and informational material that is well written.

4 star for durablility as the pyramid lid broke with one time use. Overall this is must buy for kids interested in archaeology.

Favorite toy of Christmas . We got this for my 8 year old son for Christmas. It was a blast not only for him but also our 6 year old son as well, as they used great teamwork to do the activities together. The first activity had them decipher ancient writings to figure out which side of the pyramid to break into. Then they took turns cracking away at the surface material to get the trick door open. Finally there was a good hour of digging in the pyramid to uncover the treasures. There was plenty of time during each activity for each of them to take turns. My one suggestion though would be to make sure you have a good 2-3 hour block of time, as it's going to take that long to complete all the activities. And it's a little on the messy side, so expect your kitchen table to get covered with sand. But what a well thought out toy! We were incredibly pleased.

enjoyable and has education value . i bought this item to share with my students in an after school program, they loved it. could not buy one for each so they too turnes and enjoyed every minute of it.

archaeology kit . Bought this for my 11 year old son who wants to be an archaeologist some day. He continues to study the contents of the tomb and read the book that we also purchased for him. He was fascinated by all that he learned and shared it with his family at Christmas. It was worth it!

My review of Archaeology pyramid . I bought this pyramid for my son because he loves Indiana Jones. For a while he had said he wanted to be an archaeologist. The price was not so bad and it is pretty durable. Although one thing I do question is the sand. I'm not sure but my son got an infection in his eye not too long after playing with it. The box does advise that it can be dangerous if gotten in eyes. I had to take him to the doctor to get drops because of the infection. It went a way and his eye is fine. Again I'm not positive but could have been from the sand. You have to make sure your child has protective goggles that they provide in box and wash hands thoroughly after playing with it.

Aesthetically appealing but poor construction . This is a nice looking and scientifically viable celestial globe however the plastic construction is cheap. The top and bottom of the globe is slightly askew as well. The person who put it together seemed to have rushed it. The lighting feature that illuminates the globe is a neat concept and works good enough. If this cost half the price I would say it is a decent deal but for almost $80 after shipping I would recommend trying to find one on ebay for much less or an alternative globe.

Constellation Illuminated Globe Reviews
astronomical and mythic. . The globe is about a 1/8 thick (!) layer of plastic, rather than cardboard. I had thought that the light in question would shine through the stars, however the globe is solid, with no holes. There are however two layers to the plastic, the outer one shows the astronomical designations and constellations, including the milky way. The inner layer is painted with classically styled pictures of the creatures/people of the constellations. When the light is off it is a smooth blue star globe, with just the astronomical markings. When the light is lit, the inner pictures shine through and overlay, showing the more mythical interpretations of the constellations.

The globe is very solid and seems sturdy, the bracketing frame is simple plastic and may not hold up as well. The globe does turn, but somewhat stiffly.

I'm bit disappointed that the light doesn't shine out of the stars, I'm considering drilling out the holes for the stars, so we can use it as a constellation projector too.

Cheap construction . the globe is nice, the illumination is also nice but the bracket is poorly constructed, my globe actually got broken at the bracket while on delivery, Would be better to have better material to fix the globe on the holder.

Perhaps better packing material is necessary. It's not a cheap item so improve the packing!
