This review is from : 3" Handheld Brass Telescope - Pocket Sized Scope - Nautical Decor
cool mini telescope . This telescope can be worn on a necklace, is retractable, and a really cool working telescope. If you wanted to use it as an opera glass or at a sporting event it would serve that purpose as well.
3" Handheld Brass Telescope - Pocket Sized Scope - Nautical Decor Reviews
3" Telescope with the Heart of an Explorer . This sweet little thing is perfect. It is only 3" long but it thinks it's much bigger, because it looks exactly right. I intend to buy more of them because they are so cute!
3" Handheld Brass Telescope - Pocket Sized Scope - Nautical Decor Opinions
Fun novelty item useful for crafting jewelry . I first saw mini brass telescope necklaces which could extend at a festival, selling for $30. I was tempted to buy one, but my friend dissuaded me, saying they could probably be found cheaper elsewhere. I looked up the necklaces on Etsy, but they were selling for about $30 as well.

However, I found the mini spyglass here. The telescope extends smoothly from about 1" to 3". The brass is a tiny bit discolored, but it makes it look antique.

I hooked the loop on a brass chain and made a necklace, perfect for gifting to my friends at a more affordable price. It would probably also make a really cute keychain.
Wow... these things are very cool! . I ordered up three of these to give out as prizes during an orienteering event I'm putting on for some local geocachers. I was looking for things that would be of decent quality, decent price, and be things that folks would be happy to win. This item scores on all three. They are very solid, extend smoothly, and actually work! Though 3x magnification isn't all that strong! The lenses are ground well, and there is no distortion. I was kind of expecting them to be a bit flimsy, but they are fairly substantial for their size. I may set them up with lanyards before giving them out. They'd make for a very nice necklace. Its always nice when you buy something online and then it exceeds your expectations. It didn't hurt that delivery was earlier than projected, either. I'd buy this again from this seller.
Teeny tiny . This is so tiny it's unusable. I bought it for my 3 year old as part of a pirate chest set and it's so small I have a hard time looking through it, let alone him. I wouldn't recommend this product at all.
SO TINY! . Somehow I thought it would be bigger. It DOES say '3" brass telescope' but I just didn't realize that 3" in miniature NOT just small. I honestly did not realize that the item that arrived was even the item I had ordered! I actually ordered three things from the same company. The Compass / Sundial in a wooden box, and also the Sextant in a wooden box. Both of those item's are beautiful but when I found the tiny little "telescope" I actually first thought an eye piece had come loose from the sextant! My next thought was that it was a little trinket they had thrown in as a thank you. I thought it was a little key chain miniature or some freebie. It NEVER occurred to me that this tiny little thing was what I had paid for. I expected it to be small... as in hand held type small. This is the size of a FINGER!
Oh well. That will teach me to get out my measuring tape next time.

Cons Review
Not Functional - FALSE ADVERTISING . I did not have huge expectations for this piece when I bought it; for six dollars, a couple of cheap, blurry plastic lenses and a brass-tone body was all I expected. I bought this as a gift for an imaginative six-year-old, and it didn't need to be anything serious. When it arrived, the front "lens" had fallen out inside the body of the "telescope." I unscrewed the front to put the lens back in position, and found that is was just a flat piece of glass that in my case was cut too small to stay in place. The back "lens" was the same.Flat glass =/= lens, folks. This telescope-like object has no magnification, and offers a better view if you remove the two pieces of blurry glass. I understand that this is supposed to be a costume piece. It didn't have to do much to live up to my expectations, and 3x as advertised isn't much. But it doesn't do anything at all! From the product description:
"Galileo is credited with inventing the first refracting telescope. Through his understanding of how light passes through a lens, he was able to construct a device that focused on an image and enabled the user to see an object as though it were brighter, clearer or closer. The magnification of this brass telescope is 3x."WRONG. The magnification of this brass(?) telescope-like-object is 0x. Suckers. If you buy this, realize that you will have to have the imagination of a six-year-old to get your money's worth.
Fun functional jewelry telescope . I bought this trinket for my girlfriend who considers this a must-have addition to her Steampunk attire, and not an "office supply" (which is the Amazon section it can be found it... LOL!). It IS tiny - tinier than it appears in the item photo, but cute. It has a loop to hang it as a necklace or a charm on a bracelet. And, it actually works OK, although not for any great distance. If you're into nautical or Steampunk items, this is a cute addition to one's collection.
Small telescope . Cheap. Not usable at all. Decoration ONLY. NOT FOR KIDS. Not for kids of ANY AGE. it's a MINIATURE, emphasis on SMALL.

nice . you can see good distance and it easy to use, it's a little stiff but that might go away after use
This review is from : 15" Handheld Brass Telescope with Wooden Box: Nautical Pirate Scope
Good for finding mermaids! . I just got me telescope and it is really nice. The brass gleams, the leather is REAL, the wooden box is high quality.
They shipped it immediately and it arrived in perfect condition. I bought it as a sorta salty accessory on me desktop, but this morning at daybreak i went out to the bay and spotted me first lovely lonely mermaid on the rocks some distance away. I was able to observe her unnoticed and the telescope was strong enough for me to see the scales on her tail.
Highly recommended.
ps.
the telescope works by pulling in or pushing out the tubes until if focuses. If you are interested in top quality optics in order to, say, watch an eagle snag a salmon, this is not the right telescope for you ... but if you want to snag approving looks directed toward you that say "what a cut of the canvas that old salt makes", (or something like that) and still get a reasonably close up and clear view of the things you seek then you will be a happy sailor with this spyglass.
15" Handheld Brass Telescope with Wooden Box: Nautical Pirate Scope Reviews
broken box difficult to use . Santa brought this toy for my daughter for Christmas. The box completely fell apart and is beyond repair as the hinges broke. The telescope is difficult to focus and is very poor quality. Would not recommend this as a toy for any child.
15" Handheld Brass Telescope with Wooden Box: Nautical Pirate Scope Opinions
Hmmm. . Well, it looks cool, but it is poorly made. The brown part of the scope is cheap imitation leather covered plastic, which has filled the inside with dust and plastic shavings. The brass part is loose where the second and third section come together, so it wobbles when you hold it extended, and finally the focus is off, so you have to partially collapse it to focus. I wish I hadn't wasted thirty dollars on this. It might be worth $5 - with the box, certainly not what I paid. Won't order from this company again.

Cons Review
unhappy . The telescope had a major scratch on the lens we had to send it back waiting on refund grandchild didnot get it for Christmas wish they had been inspected before being shipped out
Brass Telescope . Bought this for my 4 yr old great nephew as his "Santa" gift. He was absolutely thrilled with it-and so were we! It is well made and will last him a long time.
Amazing quality for the price . When my 9 year old son opened this gift, I thought he was going to burst. It is by far his favorite gift. He carries it around with him wherever he goes. The brass telescope is heavy and focuses by adjusting the length of the extension slightly. The handle is wrapped in leather, which is hand-sewn together at the seam. The box that it came in is excellent quality as well--nicely finished with smooth seams. I find this gift to be a steal for the quality. If you are looking for a gift with an authentic, antique, pirate feel with high quality of craftsmanship, this is the gift to get.
Mom found the "pirate telescope" he wanted... . Our son has recently become obsessed with pirates and had requested a "telescope" for Christmas. Upon further digging, we realized he wanted a "pirate telescope", not one for looking at the stars. Well...sounds easy enough, but hard to find in all actuality. Found this on Amazon on Friday, ordered it and it arrived today (Monday). Crazy fast shipping. Came packaged well, one part of the wooden box had come off, but with some wood glue it's back to working order. This thing is worth the money, it actually works, the box is very neat, it looks like a real pirate telescope. He will be thrilled!

This review is from : 15" Hand Held Silver Telescope w/ Leather Case & 12x Magnification
Fun... up close . I have always enjoyed hand-held optics(binoculars, monoculars, spy-glass-type telescopes). I didn't have a great deal of hope for this one, as the price seemed a bit on the low end for anything that would be truly effective.
I was, however, delightfully surprised when I received and (admittedly, after a false start) figured out how to use the unit.
Needless to say, you won't see the astronauts' boot-prints on the moon. You will, however, bring ill-defined but visible objects within range for clear observation. I have been able to use it to find the livestock on my own and neighboring ranges, as well as evaluate wind-storm damage to trees that might possibly endanger said livestock (cattle, horses).
Also, when stabilized in a microphone stand (I am a professional performer), I have been able to do some limited astronomical observation.
The unit is more than worth the price I paid for it, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Enjoy!

This review is from : 10" Handheld Brass Telescope w/ Wooden Box - Pirate Collection
Wonderful product outstanding service . This small telescope was needed for a special presentation in front of a corporate audience. The quality of the item was excellent and showed very well under the circumstances. In addition, we had short notice to obtain it and didn't know if we'd be able to have it delivered in time. I made a special request of the seller, and the telescope arrived in only a couple of days, well in advance of the day it was to be used in the presentation. I give this vendor the highest recommendation and would order from them again any time.
