Solar Lab . This lab was purchased for my grandson. This father said the solar panel didn't work. But that he could replace it easily. The remaining parts of the kit were usable and my grandson and his father enjoyed it. Not sure if I'd buy it again.

2/3 teacher . I originally bought this clock for my classroom. It is a very popular item at choice time. The lady tells the time and the children need to put the correct time on the analog clock by manipulating the color coded hour and minute hands. Press the "A" button and the correct answer is shown in the display in both analog and digital. I brought the clock home to replace the batteries and my 6 year old son loved it. I am buying him one for Christmas. He has learned the hour vs. minute hand. He is moving the hands in the shortest way to get to the right time. We also play a game with the stopwatch where he times me doing things like singing a song. Great learning tool! Very hands on for kids. Time is such an abstract concept. Kids need lots of daily practice and repetition and this clock is great for these things!

neat concept. . It is expensive compare to other teaching clock but fun my only issue is that it is very hard to unscrew it to put batteries in. You need a eyeglass screwdriver (yes no kidding) a very thin and very small screw driver for it. Other than that it is great.

Do not buy this toy - it doesn't last long. . We bought this toy for our daughter for Christmas but since she had a bunch of other toys, we held off giving it to her until a month later. The toy worked for 1 week and then only the red on/off light would stay lit up but it wouldn't talk or do any of the functions. We made sure the batteries were good too so it wasn't an issue with them. Way too expensive to be spending money on a toy that doesn't last. Go with the lower cost options or use colorful workbooks and save yourself the hassle.

"Talking Clever Clock" an excellent preschool learning toy . I just gave this "learning toy" to my 5 year old grand-daughter as a Christmas gift and it was a "hit". She loved it upon opening it and my daughter who is a teacher was thrilled. My grand-daughter now keeps it in her bedroom and is using it to help her learn about time, etc. while having fun. I think my grand-daughter will have learned how a clock works in time for my purchase of a "real" alarm clock for her birthday in a few weeks.

Cons Review

Not worth the money . My son received this you when he turned 5 and he is almost 7 and has only used it to hear the woman's voice announce the time. It is difficult to figure out how it works even after reading and re-reading the directions. The buttons are not clearly labeled and the volume button does little to change the sound level. It not even mildly entertaining.

buy a better clock . the first one arrived broken with no instructions. the replacement (easy process) worked.... as well as it was meant to. the time can only be manipulated in increments of 5 (3:00, 3:05, 3:10 and so on).
that confused the kid. it also does not always repeat the correct time that the clock hands are placed on. i could go on, but why bother. it does not tell time. enough said.

teaching time . This is an excellent teaching tool. I have been using this at home with my own children. They also use it when they play school. It has a variety of teaching levels(from on the hour to time story problems) so one child can get at least three years of learning out of this clock.

volume can be easily fixed great product for an interested kid! . Our whole family loves this one. Yes, the volume is loud but by simply taping an index card over the speaker it can be muffled and still be understood perfectly, really. I found it loud at first but we don't even use the cover anymore now that we have two little boys in the house.

The product is loaded with information about each planet giving kids choices to find out about history, distance from the sun, size, gravity/mass, year/day, temperature, space visits, moons, and other fun facts for each planet. They also make it easy for the child to understand by often making comparisons to earth. At anytime the child may choose to listen to something else by simply pressing the easy to use flat touch pad which is plastic and easy to clean. When talking about a planet or moon the picture lights up. If the child chooses to quiz his or herself and gets and answer wrong the product will correct them and ask them again it seems within 10 or less questions.

This product also happens to be lightweight, durable, and easy to clean if needed. It is worth mentioning that this product has an interface that is easier to use than a leappad. My boy was already very interested in the solar system but this took it to another level of fascination.

Interactive planetarium . Wonderful toy for a child with an active mind. A bit expensive but worth it for a child who has this interest.

Worth it but you can find them at a thrift store for less . I have found several of these at a thrift store. They are great fun and my 5 year olds are obsessed with them. The speakers accent is a bit distracting but it isn't bad.

Cons Review

Cool till it dies and the company won't help you . This toy is very educational and includes a lot of information about space. Unfortunately, it's not very durable. It was treated with care, but the electronic board has obviously gone kaput because you can only turn it on now with the Reset button. And after you do that, none of the buttons respond at all. If you push the ON/OFF button, it tells you it's turning off. Then you can turn it back on with the Reset button again. Not a whole lot of fun or education. That's all it does now.

I wrote to the company, Scientific Toys, and they told me to take it back to the store. I wrote again and said it had been past 30 days and asked if they could help me. No response. I wrote again and got no response. I wrote one final time and said that I would like to be able to leave a good review on Amazon about their company and product, and that I would wait a few days to hear from them before posting a review. That was about 2 weeks ago.

So I wouldn't buy this product (pretty expensive for something that doesn't work at all!) or any toy from this company since they don't stand behind their products. They just ignore you.

Too bad.Scientific INTERACTIVE PLANETARIUM (WITH TRY ME)

Very loud interactive planetarium . I am very disappointed with this product.
The volume is not adjustable, and the default sound setting is so loud that it can be heard in another room, even with a door closed.

Electronic toy voices are occasionally annoying or difficult to understand, this is the case here. So, needing to have something repeated... loudly... can "get on your nerves".

I will be more careful in the future and not assume that all speaking electronic toys come with adjustable volume.
Buyers beware!

Scientific Interactive Planetarium . This toy was recommended for children between 5 - 12 years old. I bought it for my grandson, who just turned 5. The toy was quite boring and way too advanced for a 5 year old - even one as interested in Space and planets as this one. I would NOT recommend it for anyone.

Super Cute Kit... . I picked this up on a whim for our daughter for Christmas. It's cute as a button and the box is a nice quality. The animals are super cute and a little funky. The colors are vivid and fun. Our daughter was pleased and added a few other of her items in the box. The product dimensions for this kit are not listed correctly. I'm not sure of the actual size of the box but I'd say it's approximately 9-10 in height and width. The dimensions shown must be for the diary that comes in the box.

This was not new . This came in a box, but the individual items were not wrapped, and some parts were scuffed up. I think it might have been a returned item. It works well enough for the price I paid, and my 5-year-old enjoys it. However, it is a little tricky to get the microscope and telescope focused. And part of the telescope broke off the first day, but we were able to fix it.

Very cool one shot toy . I have liked this toy a lot. My 6 year old brother got one for his birthday; he liked it and so did I (I'm 10 years old). This proves that this product is for all ages. I find it educational as it shows and teaches the techniques that paleontologists use. Do not buy it for very impatient kids -- it took 2-3 hours to finish digging out the fossil, but the amount of time it lasts is good for patient kids as it does not get boring during those 2-3 hours. 2-3 hours of fun is good for its low price.

Very Entertaining!! . My grandson loves this type of excavaction set; it doesn't involve putting bones together etc, you chisel the dinosaur as it lays flat in the cement. I have been able to find 3 different types of dinosaurs madee by this company and he has loved doing all of them.

Very rewarding if you're patient . Takes awhile to chisel away down to the fossils (if trying to be careful). But once we started seeing bones my 4 year old son got really excited and insisted we finish. He was gripped by the activity until the end. He loves dinosaurs and this was a great way to let him play with dinosaurs in a new way.

Second grader loved it . My second grade daughter was stressing out over timed tests at school, especially substraction. She gets these cards out and wants to play. The rules say to arrange the cards in equations and just "imagine" the plus, minus and equal signs, which is too abstract for a beginner. So I made a simple mat on a sheet of paper with places for the cards and the symbols written down like this ____ + _____ = _____ or this ____ + _____ = _____. Three times each because the goal is to create 3 equations as fast as you can. Anyway, the homemade mat made it easier for her to play and it has really helped her confidence level.

Make math drill enjoyable . I picked this game up from a toy store this summer on a whim. For over a month it sat on my headboard because I didn't think my 8yo would enjoy it. The Amazing Alphabotz - So Much Fun! . When I purchased these cards, they immediately caught my eye as being something different than all of the other alphabet cards I already own. I was drawn to the bright colors and the robots, since my child is such a big robot fan. When I received the package and opened the box, his eyes lit up and immediately started to identify the different objects on the cards. The card in the back of the box that tells how to introduce the characters, letters, best friends, objects, etc. was really helpful and the games that are included were so much fun for my little one (Rhyme Time, Letterlicious, and Alphabotz Story Tag were big hits!). Instead of grabbing a book before bedtime, he asks for 'his robots' and we read the secret phrases together. I got so much more than I bargained for with these cards!

Great Camera for Kids . This camera is a great starter camera for kids, with digital photo and video capability. It's very ergonomical in terms of the point & shoot mechanism and easy holding handle. Picture quality is a bit dark, but it may be due to our settings. I'm excited to let my son use this on Cub Scouts excursions and field trips, as I don't really have to worry about it breaking within only a few days....love that feature. Also has flash!

Awesome for Kids of All Ages at Home or in the Classroom! . This really is a tough cam!! My 2 and 4 year old use it every day and there isn't even a scratch yet! I don't worry at all when I see them toting it around since it is so durable. I am extremely impressed by the video imaging for a "kids" video camera. Works best in a well lit area. Pictures are a little fuzzy, especially if a young child isn't holding it still enough but considering it's for my kids it's really not a big deal. The photo is comparable to other kids cameras I've experienced. My kids love that they can take their own videos. My husband will be using in his 2nd grade classroom for scavenger hunts and other projects for the kids. It's very simple to maneuver - easy for kids of all ages. Simply click the trigger to begin videoing or to take a photo, and click the trigger again to stop the shoot. To be honest it's so simple to use I've even stopped using our little digital camera for videos and just grab the kids Tuff Cam!

We love the Tuff Cam! . We received the Tuff Cam and absolutely love it! It is a well-made product and very easy to use! We took it outside and used it during a hike with the kids and we also used it to make a YouTube video of the the kids playing with toys etc. There is NO learning curve with this item, super super easy to use that even a beginner or older child can do this on their own. We love that you simply plug it into your computer via USB port to upload your videos and it charges quickly and easily via the charging base that also plugs into your computer. We give this product a huge 2 thumbs up!!!
