This review is from : Shure Match 'N Spell Alphabet And Numbers
Excellent Learning Tool and Durable . My 3 year old loves puzzles but is still learning his letters and numbers so this was the perfect present for him. It's durable although the container it comes in got stepped on and cracked (it's plexiglass-like material). All pieces are wood and there has been no chipping or peeling of any kind so far with moderately rough use (he's three after all). There is a nice variety of words and pictures as well as high quality graphics on the wooden cards. The wooden letters and numbers are also withstanding well. Honestly, he loves playing with it and so does his 6 year old brother and is learning a lot from it. I would highly recommend this as a fun, but educational, toy.

Crystal-clear speech, fun sounds and international music add entertainment and educational value.

This review is from : Educational Insights Geosafari Talking Globe
GeoSafari Talking Globe . After determining that our family needed to purchase a globe, we decided on the GeoSafari Talking Globe because in addition to having a nice globe, you also have a fun and educational electronic game that can run on either batteries or an AC adapter (neither are included). The globe itself is a nice quality and made by the George F. Cram Co. The game is easy to play with one to four players. The only negative point that I see, is its potential for breakage due to its plastic meridian. However, with careful usage, this should not be an issue. We have, in years past, also purchased the GeoSafari Laptop and the GeoSafari Talking Globe Traveler, and they are still going strong (with the occasional need for fresh batteries).
Educational Insights Geosafari Talking Globe Reviews
slightly dissapointed . I am quite disappointed with this product because it doesn't do what I expected. I brought this for my seven year old son because he loves to learn about different places. I thought the globe would help him learn by pointing to a place and telling him about it. Instead, it just plays a game asking questions. Yes, he can learn by this type of interaction, but that is not what I wanted from this product. I thought I had search the internet enough and had found what I wanted for him, I didn't. In my opionion, it would be a great institutional learning aide for a classroom environment. Perhaps for an older child this would be a more useful learning product.
Educational Insights Geosafari Talking Globe Opinions
It will be nicer when my daughter gets older . My daughter has been asking a lot of questions that are harder to answer without visuals so that's why we orderd this globe. The globe itself is pretty nice and will serve the purpose I was hoping for but I thought the talking globe would be more fun for her. Unless I am mistaken, it is only a quiz game and the questions are pretty tough. They are not even questions that the answers can be found on the globe but I guess it's enough for food for thought. Hear the question and if you don't know the answer, do the research- maybe it will make her more curious!
The worst-designed most frustrating $75- toy ever invented... . This globe is absolutely horrible to try to assemble. You must own or buy an almost microscopic Phillips-head screwdriver just to install batteries. Even then, the teeny-tiny screw gets stripped, no matter how gently you engage it. Once the batteries are installed, it takes at least 2 people to attach the globe to the base, unless you want to break the ultra-thin, plastic arc holding the globe. What a waste of $75-. Definitely don't buy this, unless you're willing to take a 50-50 chance of having to return it.

Cons Review
Geosafari Talking Globe . My grandson wanted this for Christmas in 2010, he was 7. Now that he is 8 he is much more interested in the globe. He and his friends have fun with it and the benefit is they are learning while having that fun.

Cheap Geoworld T-Rex Skeleton Info

Price : $109.99
BUY NOW
21100066 Features: -Skeleton. -Assembly required.

Feature Geoworld T-Rex Skeleton

  • Play and learn as you discover
  • Be a paleontologist
  • Replica reproduces a 1:10 T-Rex replica
  • Stone ground effect base
  • Easy assembly instructions

This review is from : Geoworld T-Rex Skeleton
Geoworld Trex in review . I like this particular Tyrannosaurus Rex model because of several unique
features. First and foremost, its size. At three feet, its quite large. The
coloring of the simulated bones is fairly realistic. The model came in a box
which when opened had bags pre marked with numbers. An instruction sheet is
used to guide you on how to put the Trex together. My first impression of the model was "wow", but the wow soon turned into reality as I began the slow
and painstaking efforts to put Trex together. The product is geared towards
6 years old and up. However, it took me well over three hours to put Trex
together. A few of the pieces would not go together as well as others which
slowed the assembly process. Undeterred, I kept at it. While assembling one part, the other part would fall apart. This was minor, but for a child it may be a bit to much. I suggest adults take active part in this because the
assembly is far more difficult than advertised. However, once done, it was
worth all the wait. A stand, two metal rods, a nameplate and of course all
the various bones to make the Trex are what comes in the box. Also the
instructions. The appearance is very well done. The Trex skull is very
well done with all the cavities and teeth one might expect to find in a Trex
skull. The rib cage was a little difficult because the plastic used in this model, while durable is also prone to bending and staying in that position while still in the box. Many of the rib cage bones were bent and needed a little adjustment to get them just right. Again, no big deal. As for the rest
of the skeleton, it was difficult because again it seemed as though I needed
a third hand to complete the Rex. It really does go together much like a puzzle. Once completed it looks great and receives many compliments on size,
accuracy, realism. It may be tempting to use glue with this model. I highly
suggest you think that one over. Once glued that's that. There are alternative ways of dealing with the parts which fall apart while assembling
others. I used very fine wire and threaded it through the various bone
structures and more or less tied the bones together. Very fine black wire is
hard to see and will not detract in any way from the actual product once completed. Additionally it can be disassembled for transport or moving. I
think the model is beautiful, well made and well thought out. Was it difficult? Yes. However, one must have patience when working with these types of models. I have four Trex model skeletons. Of the four, this is my
favorite. it actually went together much like one in a museum. Its display is
also fairly real. Price was very low for a model this size. As far as children being marketed for this model. That's okay so long as an adult helps with the assembly. It is very hard to put together, but the wait, as I stated earlier, is well worth it. In terms of educational value, I give this
model 5 stars across the board. Any child wishing to have an accurate model
of a Trex skeleton will like this one the most. One other word of advice. I
don't consider this a toy, but it is a life like representation of a Trex
skeleton. I highly suggest once made it get displayed were you know it will not be touched by curious hands.

This review is from : National Geographic Exploration-Station Globe, Magazine Subscription, and Cabinet
Natioanl Geographic Globe . The place where the globe attaches does not seem to fit right, but the globe itself is awesome. Many places in great detail, fine colors and very readable place names make it a great investment for educational purposes.
National Geographic Exploration-Station Globe, Magazine Subscription, and Cabinet Reviews
Nice map. Cheap plastic . I broke the base on assembly. The globe wouldn't fit into the base on its own so I tried to muscle it (last resort). It snapped and now I have a baseless globe. At least I can hold in my hands to look at.

The map itself is good.

  • Designed and manufactured in Germany for safe experimentation
  • The ultimate chemistry kit

This review is from : Thames & Kosmos CHEM C3000
Very well thought out Chemistry Set! . I have a couple of chemistry sets, such as the Microchem 5000, which is a surprisingly in-depth set. But this set, the Chem3000 is the best chemistry set I have ever seen, or used. The manual, coupled with the actual labware makes this set a serious tool for a budding chemist, or for someone who really wants to learn some general chemistry but doesn't have the time or resources to go to college.

As regards not being to get the Sodium Hydroxide, you can get it from Unitednuclear.com, and Homesciencetools.com sells both Hydrochloric acid and Sodium hydroxide. Both sites sell other chemicals too, so you won't have a problem getting the necessary chemicals. Also, many hardware stores sell Hydrochloric acid (they call it Muriatic acid), as well as Sulfuric acid (battery acid). So, getting the necessary chemicals is not as hard as it may seem.

Like the guy before me, I have a nostalgia bug too, and the Chem3000 fills that niche very nicely. I consider this chemistry set to be the finest ever made. The only way I think it could be improved (for the price) would be to add more chemical reaction information in their already really good manual.

If you want to learn chemistry but never got around to it, this is the set to buy.

Thames & Kosmos CHEM C3000 Opinions
C300 advanced chemistry . Very good kit. However,it does not contain all the materials needed and the required additional solutions are almost impossible to get hold of these days (like sodium hydroxide - lye, because it is used by crack labs). Since these solutions are needed for many experiments and are illegal to mail, a large part of the experiments are not possible to do. This is a significant drawback.

The experiments need close adult supervision and involve open flames, boiling solutions, hydrochloric acid, etc. and are not for younger children or the fainthearted parent. There is limited explanation in the manual about chemistry, so a supplemental text or course would be best to get an understanding of why the reactions happen.

That said, our daughter loves the kit and it is complete, well organized and of excellent quality.
Gives the experimenter a lot of activity . I never actually had a chemistry set as a kid, with my Dad being more into mechanical and electrical scientific toys, but I have fond memories of both HS and college chemistry lab, and was wanting at least to have some chemicals and actual procedures to use with the set of classic Pyrex labware I was building from the Sargent-Welch site (where they don't sell chemicals to individuals). It appears they've thought out the equipment, much of which is "real"-lab quality (I loved the VWR 100 mL Erlenmeyer flask, the ceramic evaporating dish and the test tubes), so that effective work can be done, and it's quite ambitious, the extent of general chemistry that they attempt to cover with a single lab manual. I noted as did the previous reviewer that some of those non-shippable or limited shelf-life chemicals look rather difficult to find, but many of the substances are just as I remember them being in school, so my retro bug is well supplied. I would think the serious experimenter would need to put a bit of dedication into doing things right or much of the value would go unused. I noted with appreciation that this kit was made in Germany, where I've always been amazed at the emphasis on educational content they put into toys, like my little Wilesco steam engine that I bought a few years back and still run on occasion.

I guess I come from the side of life where I've been there and done all that, and simply want to re-live those days when I was as the intended audience is, having the subject opening before them for the first time. Before I'd lay out this kind of money on a set, I'd make sure the student was up for it.

I'm impressed that such kits are marketed with the young student in mind, and since I'm just a big kid, well, you can count me in as entertained at the same time.
Compare to custom built chemistry set . I have not bought or seen the Thames & Kosmos C3000, but I have recently set up a customized home chemistry lab like the one I had when I was a kid, and I base my rating (5 stars) for the C3000 on the list of equipment and the price. You should refer to other reviews for actual experience with this chemistry set; I am writing to share some of what I have learned in setting up my own home lab.

There is a lot of moaning on the internet about the way that fears of lawsuits and liability have led to the demise of the old-fashioned chemistry set, and about the poor quality and educational value of what typically passes nowadays for a "chemistry set". Many of these seem to be so "safe" that all excitement and learning has been drained out of them. See also the book "Uncle Tungsten" by Oliver Sacks. Some of the lesser Thames & Kosmos sets may fall into this category, and by the reviews I judge that they do. But the C3000 looks to me like it is a good start on recovering the experience offered by the classic Gilbert and Chemcraft chemistry sets of the 50's and 60's, especially in view of the price. While $212 might seem like a lot for a chemistry set, it is considerably less than you would pay if you ordered the same chemicals and pieces of equipment individually. Also, for those of you considering using this for home schooling, I would offer the opinion that it would be worth it to invest even more, and consider something like the $500 chemistry set offered by HMS Beagle, or by expanding on what is offered in the C3000 by purchasing extra supplies. The top-line Gilbert chemistry sets of the 1930's cost something like $40 (I think), which in inflated dollars must be more than $225 now. Besides, for home schooling you probably want something more than what any chemistry set offers.

There are some complaints that the C3000 doesn't have all the chemicals you will need to do all the experiments in their manual. I think that's inevitable, given the price. In any case, if you or your young chemists have any interest in the subject it is likely that you will want to expand beyond the limits of the C3000. I suggest that you get a copy of "The Golden Book of Chemistry Experiments" (out of print, but available as a pdf file for free download, just google on it). I also have the manual for the Gilbert Chemistry Set from the 1930's which has hundreds of experiments and lots of general information. These can give you ideas for experiments. Robert Bruce Thompson's book "Illustrated Guide to Home Chemistry Experiments" has a lot of up-to-date and useful information on setting up a lab, as well as a series of advanced high school or college level experiments. It covers topics such as safety and disposal of chemical waste that you will want to know about. I also recommend the videos by Nurdrage on youtube, which are very educational and interesting, although there are two instances where I wish he had restrained his language. Apart from that they are the best chemistry videos on Youtube.

As for ordering extra chemicals and equipment, I have used a combination of United Nuclear, HMS Beagle, Sargent-Welch, and Elemental Scientific. None of these covered all my needs, and I have shopped around. I started by concentrating on some particular experiments I wanted to do, and then ordering the equipment needed for those, and then moving on to new experiments.

Mineral acids (hydrochloric, sulfuric and nitric) and strong bases (sodium, potassium and concentrated ammonium hydroxide) are the main chemicals needed for serious chemistry that are omitted from chemistry sets (although the HMS Beagle advanced kit does include some of them). Companies such as Sargent-Welch will not ship these to individuals, only to schools or businesses. Robert Bruce Thompson explains how sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid are currently available at the hardware store as drain cleaners, and also how to get hydrochloric acid. Nitric acid is the most difficult to obtain, but it may be available locally (for a price, that's how I got mine), or else try HMS Beagle. See also RBT's videos on Youtube on lab safety.
Educational . My son loves being a scientist. My brother used to create his own experiments and caused a few fires because of it.....I did not want my son doing the same thing so we figured this would be a great. The instructions a step by step; as detailed as to even setting up your work area. As parents we are learning stuff too. THIS DOES REQUIRE ADULT SUPERVISION and IS NOT A TOY!
My 11 yr old LOVES it! . We got this for my sons 11th birthday, we had been wanting a chemistry set. We compared sets and looked at reviews and decided this one was a good one. We are very pleased with this set, it arrived safely, and is very well stocked. The directions are easy to follow and the experiments interesting and educational. It is definitely not the same chemistry set *I* had growing up. I'd buy it again and/or recommend it with no problem.
Kind of Disappointed . I was spending a lot of time creating chemistry curriculum for my 12-year home-schooled son when I came across this set. I hemmed and hawed about the price- thought about starting out with the smaller set first and then because of the reviews I had read on another sight about the great book that comes with it, decided to go ahead and buy it. I thought it would save me a lot of time creating curriculum and searching for the right chemicals.

The set loooks great- it has a lot of potential. We had to buy a toolbox to keep everything in which cost another $20.00. It comes with three styrofoam bases in a box. As other reviewers have stated, it doesn't come with all of the chemicals needed. The first few experiments require things that I had to purchase elsewhere, so I was kind of back where I started- looking for the right chemicals.

The book also doesn't leave much room for discovery. It tells exactly what is going to happen as the student is doing the experiment. I expect my son to make predictions, observe and conclude on his own. So, I'm also back to creating curriculum using the book as merely a guide.

To do it over again, I would continue to create my own curriculum and use the $200.00 to buy stuff on my own.
Good Item . We are enjoying this item. It really is not a toy though. We are learning a lot. The only con about this item I have found so far is it does not have a case. So storage was a problem. I did break an item because of having to move the containers around. I wanted to keep everything is order but this did not work out well. So we removed everything and put it in baskets. But good upgrade to this kit would be a case.

But all together is has made a great chem set. We are using it with our home school curriculum. And I think there will be enough projects and information to get us through most of the year.
Great set but wish it came with all required items. . Love the chem set. Frustratingly difficult to find the items need for doing the experiments, like oil for burner and other items listed in book, that are not included with set.

This review is from : Famemaster 4D-Vision Saturn V Rocket Model
Better Than I Had Hoped For . I had been looking around for a large scale model of the Saturn V rocket since taking a day trip to the Air and Space Museum out at Dulles Airport. Initially, all the models I came across online were single piece wooden models that were only about a foot and half tall and not very detailed. A week into searching, I came across the 4D model. Had to wait almost 2 months for them to come back in stock, but WOW was it worth the weight. Dont let the piece count fool you, it went together in about 2 hours with only minor assembly issues. Despite what the instructions say, you WILL need a little styrene glue for some of the smaller pieces that arent meant to come off, especially the little red pieces that attach to the stage 1 engines. Beyond that, it went together like a dream. And the size....I know it says 43 inches on the box, but that doesnt really prepare you for the magnitude of the thing once its together. And whats best is that the transparent panels are only on one side, so if you just want to see the solid rocket, just rotate it around. Well worth the price and the wait.

Durable Educational and Fun . I have this globe in my first grade classroom. It is a little above their heads, but creates a great challenge for those who are looking to learn more about the earth and the world we live in. I purchased one off of amazon because one of my students asked for it for Christmas in 2009. His parents asked me to help them find one and I could get free two day shipping so I purchased it for them. It was shipped on time and arrived in great condition.

My students use mine on a daily basis and have for about 4 years now. It still works very well. I do have headphones to go with mine and the power cord. I would recommend getting the power cord if you plan on using it a lot! The family I purchased it for just bought batteries for now. They have been very happy with it and are very impressed with what their child learned from it in my classroom. He has been very excited since he received it and plays with it daily at home. His older brother even likes it and plays with it (he's in 4th grade).

This globe offers many activities and exploring modes for the kids so they don't get bored easily with this toy. It helps the students locate different places on the globe and learn about those far away places.

Santa Knows his Globe . Santa was all set to deliver the GeoSafari Globe Jr we had asked him to bring our daughter. He took it out of the box and it looked great, had lots of light, but no sound. No matter how many times he changed the batteries, it didn't talk. Needless to say, he had to take it back to the North Pole and it did not come under our tree. About a week later, though, he left a note saying that the elves "fixed it" and put a brand new Oregon Scientific globe under the tree. The OS globe talks, has lots more categories and challenges, adjusts to ALL age ranges (from 15 to adult), and best of all can be updated (online) ... all for the same price! That Santa, he is so smart.
Educational Insights Geosafari Talking Globe Jr. Opinions
For readers only . My daughter recieved this globe for her 6th birthday. She was so excited, but was very discouraged when she discovered she could not really learn about the continents etc. The globe requires you to read the names of the states, oceans etc. She is a new reader and cannot read the small print on the globe. She was really hoping to point to a place and the globe would teach her about it. This globe asks you questions about a location and you need to find it. She walked away after 15 minutes and has not returned in 10 days. It is being returned.
The Talking Globe by GeoSafari . Good information for learning but awkward to use since it is not interactive using a probe to touch areas on the Globe to get relevant information.
Learning is Fun . The GeoSafari Talking Globe Jr. is an exceptional learning too. It is an for 8 years and above children. The globe teaches the children about different countries, culture, songs plus much more. It is the best item I every bought for my Grandchildren.
Great educational toy . Our five year old grandson and his mother are having a great time with this wonderful educational talking globe. It has kept his attention and he has so many questions. Recommended.
Education made fun . My grandsons are being home schooled. This globe is wonderful in that it lights up and gives audible details on the area they want to learn about. Fun!!
Major Disappointment & Cheaply Made . The toy is cheaply made It comes apart every time my kids try to play with it. The globe comes of the stand freely it only works if you keep it still and tape it down to a table or something I guess. Its just a globe with a bunch of recordings no recognition of what your child press or picks out on the globe. Flat out just a waste of money

Cons Review
Great concept . I have been impressed with the design of this educational globe. The pictures and colored outlines of continents, countries or provinces is brilliant in the their use of giving hints for the child as they learn. This is a fantastic toy for beginning learners in geography; my sons are 10 and 7 and enjoy it greatly. So do I!
Not worth the money! . This nice-looking globe, once received, turned out to be of very poor overall quality, especially when considering the price. The map is made of paper/cardboard and has been applied with numerous wrinkles. While the top of the globe is light, the stand is not heavy or large enough to support the top when spun without holding on to the entire piece. Lastly, the voice emitting from the computerized base is very mechanical and the narrator is difficult to understand. I was very disappointed with this product.

Where To Buy CSI DNA Lab Reviews

CSI DNA Lab Reviews - Based on the hit CBS series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, this DNA Lab Kit will allow the budding scientist to perform different experiments, including exposing the double helix and creating DNA fingerprints.

Learn the principals of DNA Analysis and how it helps CSI to solve the case. Perform realistic tests which includes chemicals needed for analysis and a centrifuge to charge and analyze the DNA. This set includes a centrifuge, magnetic mixer, electrophoresis chamber test vials, ink samples, DNA stain (fabricated to look like real DNA) and more.

Great for the budding scientist! . My mother-in-law sent this for my son this Christmas and it is such a hit. Definitely a toy for the thinking child. My son is 9 and although I do have to minorly assist him, he is absorbing everything. Products used in the experiments are replaceable with common household items--such a plus for us because once is never enough. This product seems extremely durable, too, with holders for all the tubes, beakers, etc. I did see that the guide was age-inappropriate (i.e. Why does my child need to know that so-and-so was an exotic dancer before coming on the squad?), so I had to give it an overall 4. I hate to do that, but this is a toy.
Happy with product . This is a great project and was well worth the money for the future scientist, but definately needs supervision and the supply box leaks so be careful where you store it.
Mixed results . The beginning, basic level experiments in this lab work fine. However, as you get further into the more advanced experiments, you find out the equipment provided is substandard. We purchased this lab specifically for the electrophoresis chamber and centrifuge. Neither worked well. We have contacted the manufacturer, asking for suggestions on improving the use of this lab. They have not bothered to reply to our e-mails. I will not purchase any more items by Planet Toys.
This is the coolest thing eva. . I bought this toy because I wish to be a DNA analyst/CSI when I grow up. It is alot of fun, and I have learned alot from it so far. I love it! I'm Greg Sanders in training. =D
i was not pleased on bit!! I had no idea how to use it! . When i first got it i was sooo excited! But when i opened it, it had no instructions. even the 10 things to do with it didnt explain how to work everything. sure it was fun at first but then i realized, "how am i supposed to do anyhting?" the semi worst part was the stuff stunk. i got really nauseous when i got a wift of it. now i can usually handle smells but this was the worst! I got dizzy and almost through up! I wish i could have soaked everything in like bleach or sumthin just to get rid of the stench! I had to clean it too! i kept pointing my nose in the other direction and walking away for fresh air! I would not personally reccomend this. i ahve not been able to REALLY use it!! I dont no if directions was supposed to come w/ it or what but i can tell you that i was NOT pleased!!

Excellent learning tool . I have a two year old who has picked up his colors and general words from playing with the cards. Great product but he did bite off 2 pieces, so I suggest supervision.
