A quick fun project with a lesson . My husband helped our 6 year old make this. It took them less than 20 minutes and they placed the final prduct in the freezer to make it set up more quickly. They discussed solids vs liquids and enjoyed a quick little lesson while making some very pretty (pink with silver sparkles) fun-shaped soaps. Like most kids' soaps, they do not last long but they are cute, fun, and girlie if you have a little one who enjoys making such things!

Very Cool . Gave this to my 9 year old daughter for xmas - she stopped opening presents so she could put it together! She loves it and takes it apart and puts it back together because she is fascinated by the anatomy of the frog. Super cool. And her little sister (age 7) got the shark. I would recommend this puzzle to any one who wants to get a kid excited about biology and anatomy.

Good model . This model was a good alternative to dissection for my 12 year old girl (homeschool zoology). Looks good, anatomically correct, sturdy, reasonably well built. Takes some dexterity to put together, but wasn't a problem for her. Materials that came with it were good, including basics of major organs, plus a great labeled diagram of a frog skeleton. The "Uncover a Frog" book was a good companion to the model.

HArd to get together and doesn't stay . If you want this for a one to two time use...perfect. If you want to be able to put together and set on counter if it gets bumped etc. it falls apart. My daughter became frustrated because she couldn't close it once she put all the peices together. She had to leave one out to get it to close and then the leg and arms kept falling off. If you want to treat it like a mister potato head toy this is cool and fun.

Excellent canine skeleton model . I purchased this model kit so that I could use it as a basis for a wolf sculpture. The dog skeleton is an almost perfect match for the wolf, it only requires minor modifications to lengthen the limbs and increase the size of the paws. That is my particular use for this fine kit. I only had use for the skeleton but the kit is meant to be built like the old "Visable" anatomy model kits currently produced by Skilcraft (Visable Man, Woman, Horse, Cow, etc.). Like those kits the 4D Vision Dog comes with all the internal organs, skeleton and an outer dog-shaped shell cast in clear plastic. Built out of the box it is easily assembled, I didn't even need the instructions when I dry-fitted the pieces, no glue or paint is necessary as everything just snaps together and the organs are cast in colored plastic. There is also a It's a perfect kit for a beginner or child over the age of three who is interested in anatomy. Maybe little Johnny or Mary want to become a veterinarian when they grow up or would just like to learn more about the family dog, Rover, then this is the kit for them. It is an educational model for display and not a toy for pay, it's simply too delicate for that kind of abuse. The parts are small and numerous so it is a not a model recommended for small children due to choking hazard. The scale and breed are not mentioned but measures just under four inches at the withers (the highest point on a dog's neck - where the neck joins the back)with about a four and a half inches long body (measured from the point of the shoulder to the rump). The model is perfectly proportioned according to the AKC standards for a male Laborador Retriever. The proportions in a Lab are similar to those of a wolf (only slightly smaller), another reason that the skeleton works out perfectly for my needs. The scale then is approximately 1:6, which again works out perfectly for my needs. I recommend the 4D Vision Dog Full Skeleton Model kit highly for anyone who loves canines and wants to learn more about them physically.

Cons Review

Holes were too small for leg pegs to snap in place very frustrating but anatomical details are still educational . After at least an hour spent trying to get the back legs to "simply" snap together, we gave up...but not without a fight. The holes simply weren't large enough to accommodate the pegs. Since the other reviewer here loved the dog model, it appears that we may have gotten a defective one. It happens.On the plus side, after all that time working with this model, my son knew every basic part of canine anatomy and marveled at the placement,shape, etc. of the heart, liver, tail bone,and more. So this deserves fair credit for educational value. But it loses points for the "fun" factor and lack of satisfaction when we failed to get it completed. On the plus side, the brochure that comes with the model has many informative facts about dogs. This added to the educational value. Of course, that same information could be found elsewhere. It was just a nice bonus.This figure is not durable and is most suitable for display in a protected area. We had planned to use this for two reasons:1. As a basic guide to canine anatomy.2. As part of a Halloween display. This model is small and does not have lots of visual impact. We will use it anyway and it actually
does not matter...for that specific use...if the dog holds together. It is even a bit spookier when parts of it are strewn nearby. But we had hoped for the option of a complete anatomical figure later.

Very educational . Could be a great learning toy with lots of educational value. Problem is when you get he actual toy you're highly disappointed and shocked at how small it. You'd think by the picture it was a nice size. It is just way too small. I was going to buy other animals in the series but would thoroughly check dimensions if I do.

Snap Circuits Awesome...Grids not so much. . I'm an adult who loves to learn hands on. I have been wanting to learn about electronics for years. So, I was pleased when I found Snap Circuits. Your not to old for them after the age of 18. So,they also have advanced ones.

The motion detector is a great starter kit, but the info sheet which comes with it does not really help much. Colorful, yes, but descriptive, no. It doesn't really tell what things do...

My only other qualm is that the grid is too small. Now this set, you can build it off grid. Kind of tricky though.

Conclusion: Great if you son/daughter or you want to check out and see if there is any interest in electronics for real.

Great addition . we bought the full snap circuit set for our son last year, he so loved this toy. So this year we bought a couple of additions, again he loved it. This toy has so many different possiblities, he plays with it often and creats his own inventions!

We must have gotten a faulty set . We love snap circuits, and this was a nice addition to our set, with the exception that it didn't work. Not a single project worked so we are sending it back. I am not willing to try it again. I will move on to a different motion sensor item. I still however recommend the snap circuits, just not this set.

Windturbine great educational tool . The Windturbine kit was worth the money and well designed. My 8 year old enjoyed putting it together with me, and learned about reading installation instructions using the drawings. That said there was some confusion, on my part, when purchased in that they indicated the kit would also make cars. The same parts are used so you get the Windturbine OR cars. Also there should be no expectation that you could actually charge a battery (to run a electric car) from the turbine (powered by a fan). It's all the turbine can do to light a LED, however it does prove it works. The kit is a good tool to teach gear ratio's and mechanical assembly, as well as how the wind can produce electricity. I'd strongly recommend it.

Decent learning toy . I bought this for myself. First impression is that the turbine blades are larger than I expected. Once built, I found the gearbox difficult to work. It also seems like the gears don't mesh properly. The turbine nose does not fit snugly and so the whole turbine falls off occasionally.
Otherwise, an interesting conversation piece. Haven't tried it outdoors yet - though I would have to do some modification to ensure that it doesn't fall apart. Will probably donate it to a school after I get bored with it.

Educator . Another outstanding Thames & Kosmos project kit. My 8 year old nephew loves these educational kits. The Wind Mill itself was larger than we thought it would be, which was a nice surprise. We have purchased several of these kits and have never been disappointed. My nephew spends hours creating all kinds of incredible projects.

Excellent wind turbine kit! . Very nice kit to introduce the concepts of wind energy to young and old alike. I am an engineer who installs wind energy facilities for a living. This kit has been great to teach my son (4 years old) about wind turbine design, construction and operation. It is also very good for teaching young children skills for assembling kits. We have built it and used it outside and it works very well. The only thing I wish is that it would come with a more sturdy base.

Great for Kids . I have been looking into Wind Power, so I wanted something that my two kids (girl-10 and boy-12) could build to better understand how a Wind Turbine works...It took less than 45 minutes to build and the kids learned how to follow detailed directions and how Wind can produce electricity.Great learning tool!!

more of a model than a toy . This item was fine for my 14 yr old grandson. However, it is quite large so requires a lot of space to display. But I bought it for a 'learning experience' about different kinds of energy sources.

Arrived with broken generator and two pieces missing . We ordered this for my child's science project but when we finally had time to build it with her last weekend we found that the generator is broken, where the turbine connects...so the set is useless. We also found that 2 pieces are missing form the kit.
So not sure what we are going to do now, it doesn't look like we can return it since it's opened??? and can't find a 'contact us' number or email anywhere?? and running out of time for science project. What a disappointment!

no personal experience but 4th grader was enamored with it . i bought this toy for a 4th grader who is under my therapeutic care and is on a points system (he is rewarded for showing a certain number of desired/positive behaviors). He had the choice of several rewards and he chose this one without even opening it to examine the contents (so i have not seen the contents yet either). I explained what it is supposed to do and he thought it was really cool. He is really into science, so he was really interested/excited about the prospect of performing his own experiments. I'm hoping the kit follows up on its promises and actually works. sorry i can't provide more feedback on the actual operations of the product, but if your kid is into science he will flip over the idea of this toy.

So much fun! . This is a really wonderful game for anyone who needs to learn or brush up on their multiplication facts. Each game is short (about 5-10 minutes) which means you can play when you have a few minutes, but it's also fun to play for an hour. We all really enjoy and USE this card game a lot (my children ask for it all the time!) My 9 yo's speed is improving and my 6 year old has already learned his 2, 3, and 5 tables from playing. Awesome Speed Cards . Laura (8 year old) was laughing and hooting when she beat me at the speed card game. Learning while playing . My daughter received this set of card games as a present for her 6th birthday. After playing the beginning deck, Two Speed, she is eager to move on to learn the other decks in this set. The 8 decks of cards are packaged in a durable box which looks like it will last for many years, not like most game boxes. Although she won't need to learn multiplication for a few more years, this is a fun & playful way to establish a the foundation necessary for her later success. Sea-Monkeys was the one toy I never got when I was a kid and I really wish I did! . I first bought myself a really cheap knock-off called SpongeBob Square paints "Plenty-o-plankton" at a local Wallgreens around the holidays to try with my 2 grandsons. Thank goodness I tried it out first because it was total JUNK! I only paid $3.99 for it, so as I always say, you get what you pay for! Anyway, I did a ton of research to figure out what I was doing wrong and discovered that Plenty-O-Plankton was not the same thing as the genuine Sea-Monkeys. Well, this prompted me to find the real deal. I did some searching and Amazon has many different Sea-Monkey kits to choose from. I bought this kit because I'm a SciFi nut any I figured it would be a great conversation piece for my office and it has. I've had people stop by every day to look at them. It really works great and I will buy another one for my grandsons.
Important to note: Read ALL THE DIRECTIONS on the packets and the FAQ's at [...] if you have any troubles. They also have great e-mail support. Water temp and location of the tank is very important. Avoid direct sunlight but using an incandescent light to keep the tank temp above 72? F helps them grow really fast.

Schylling Sea Monkeys On Mars Reviews
Mesmerizing . I got this for my son, but ended up watching the Sea Monkeys frolic for long periods of time. The Mars tank is the best because it looks almost like a natural setting. At first, some Sea Monkeys keep running into the astornaut, but now they are a little better at avoiding him.

I followed the insructions and the Sea Monkeys are thriving! There are mature Sea Monkeys and babies in my tank. I'm waiting for the next generation to be born, since some females have been carrying egg sacs around for a while now. The babies like to hide near the base of the mountain, while the adults swim all around. Now they are even bold enough to swim under the spaceship.

I aerate the tank every other day with a tiny Capri Sun juice straw that has the bottom 1/4" folded up and taped. I pieced all over the bottom 1/2 inch of the straw with the smallest pin pricks I could make. Be careful to keep blowing and draw the straw up before water (any Sea Monkeys) gets sucked into the straw.

They also love short periods of direct sun (make sure the water doesn't get hotter than 77 degrees F.) If it is the first light of the day, they go wild! That's also what makes this tank so great. The arches and mountain make some shade for Sea Monkeys that prefer privacy and less sun. Since they're so little, it looks like they are flying around. I think this is by far the most comfortable habitat for Sea Monkeys that I've seen.

I hope they make some more like this so I have someplace a little different to put my 2nd generation Sea Monkeys. I want to bring one to my offic!

It's great as a little kid's first pet too.

Sea Monkeys are fun :) . I like this aquarium because the wide base makes it hard to accidentally tip over.

Here's a tip: for an aerator, I bought a cheap two-pack of airstones at the pet store, and popped one right into the Aqua-Leash.

Sea Monkeys on Mars a down to earth habitat! . My 7 year old son and I received the sea monkey habitat and he marveled at it, waiting with bated breath for the sea monkeys to arrive. When they arrived, we established a colony of sea monkeys on mars, letting my son see how life forms. Now he can learn how to care for the sea monkey as they grow and flourish. This is a great life lesson toy about life and how it forms.

Good Fun! . The whole family is enjoying our Sea Monkeys on Mars! The set-up is super easy, and the critters all hatched. The little and big kids alike are all checking in on them frequently and enjoying feeding/watching them grow. Lot's of fun, great price!

Solid sea monkey habitat! . I bought this sea monkey habitat as a replacement for one of those other, much more flimsy aquariums that are out there. It has not disappointed! This set is much easier to move from windowsill to windowsill (without fear of breaking or leaking) than the now-retired, older aquarium. Good stuff!

Fun even for adults! . Bought these as a gift for my husbands 43rd birthday. He always wanted them as a kid. I think he loves them even more as an adult! So much fun to see him acting like a kid! Very easy to use! Going to purchase two more sets for our 11 year old boys for Christmas!

Pretty good . When I received the kit, the little astronaut had broken off of his tether and was rattling around the box. I wasn't too upset so I just threw him into the tank and let him sit on the bottom.

I don't understand why they put the Aqualeash in this kit, because it is generally used to move your sea monkeys back and forth between containers, but since this is the only one I have, moving the little guys for no reason makes no sense. However, I did end up using it for an aerator, since the Million Bubbles Air Pump is sold separately. I just do one pump, and then withdraw the Aqualeash so that nothing gets sucked up, and then let go of the pump,

Other than that, the kit is pretty good. It's not the best quality, but if you just want some sea monkeys to look at and read all the directions to take care of them, you should be pretty good with this.

So Much Fun! . I wish I would have given them a little more time when I was a kid before pouring the water out, I didn't know how small they would be. I gave em a little more time this time around and wasn't disappointed, they sprouted with almost no effort on my part and they are now thriving, unlike their neighbors, the fish. This is a great, fun educational toy and the Mars theme is really cool for a kid (or adult like me) who is a science geek (and i mean that in a good way.)

My daughter loves it! . My soon to turn three year old daughter loves this placemat. Excellent Introductory Kit . This was a Christmas present for a 10 year old. The set is well laid out, the supplies well marked, and the containers of the materials are very well designed (always a concern with a chemistry set). The instructions are clear, and work well from introductory to more complex. The experiments are fun, and even introduce a little "magic" which is cool. This is a real chemistry set, and gives kids the feel that they are doing real experiments (which they are) and not just playing. Educationally, the set is very good at introducing concepts in the context of each experiment. It may seem kind of expensive for a beginner kit, but it is a high quality kit. When you compare it to the marginally less expensive "kiddie kits" that are out there, it's worth it.

COMPLAINTS (all minor): The very first experiments require making a solution that needs to rest for a day, so be prepared for that. Hopefully it will reinforce to your kids the reality that this is real science. I was a little disappointed that there were some things you will want that aren't part of the kit. For example denatured alcohol isn't usually part of your normal household supplies (isopropyl is not denatured alcohol). These are considerately labeled in the manual, however. The test tube stand is a little shallow to hold test tubes firmly, but it holds them well enough.

Great fun for dad and son . Dad says he got this for our son (he is 8), but he is having as much fun or more. They are learning a lot and were able to use some of the chemicals for a science fair project. Amazon has the best price on this kit and it is worth the price because there are lots of experiments to do. We have purchased many kits for 20-30 dollars and they're done in a day. There are still a lot more experiments to try on this one and the educational value is much better than a less expensive kit. Worth the money...

Be aware: requires at least 15 items not included in kit . I ordered this chemistry set for a 13 year old boy from a financially-challenged family. I was glad that I opened the box and read the detailed guidebook before I gave it to him, because there were many items required to perform the experiments that are not included in the box, and some of them are not even things that I keep in my own home. If you give this as a gift be sure to read the guidebook and purchase the missing items, or the gift recipient won't be able to conduct any of the experiments.

limited for price . Given the cost, it's surprising how limited the selection of chemicals included in the kit are. Most of the kit is mostly just a few pieces of cheap labware. We got the kit a few months ago and then needed a replacement manual after a spill (not the first time I'm sure this has happened w a chemistry set), and Discovery Customer Service was of no help at all.

Chem set . My grandson just loves this set!!!!!He can't wait to try this out at home. His mother and fathwer are excited, too. Looks like they have lots of projects for long winter nights!!!!!

Es un poco complicado . Muchas de las instrucciones no son muy especificas y por lo tanto confusas. Las probetas deberian de traer marcadas las medidas de cm3 porque es un poco complicado para un niño tomar estas medidas cuando tiene que vertir algun liquido. Pero en lo general es instructivo y les enseña a los niños a ser cuidadosos y a tener paciencia cuando estan realizando algun experimento.

Not a good value . This chemistry set is a rip off. Priced way to high for what you get. Does not come with everything you need to complete the experiments. There is a whole list at the beginning of the booklet of other things you will need. Comes with four test tubes, but only two corks for the tubes. The directions are sometimes confusing. There are not really 75 "experiments". They take the experiments and break them down in to parts and call each part an experiment. So there are 75 parts of experiments. Kids should not work with this kit alone. Some of the experiments don't work. Don't feel that much chemistry is learned. Most experiments are turning liquids different colors, which has an "ooh" factor for kids. My kids (ages 10 and 12) like the kit, but I do most of the work with it, setting everything up and I find it frustrating. If you still really want this kit, consider supplementing it with the book Christian Kids Explore Chemistry to fill in the learning lacking in the set.

Pric3 hike . I would be ashamed to show the price to of 70.00. When others have it on sale for as low as 49.95 and two places for 55.00. I hate sellers who raise the price then cut it to just what they want to get. Trying to make people fell like they got a discount. SHAMEFULL!!

Insect Lore bug jar . We purchased 3 of these for our younger children who are bug fanatics! This product is rated only okay for me because the handle repeatedly comes off! This is frustrating for my kids (ages 2,4,& 6), and myself with the repeated " MOM, can you fix this?" Otherwise my children are very interested in finding all the various bugs in our backyard. They mostly use the magnifying lid and look in the grass to see the bugs more closely, again probably so they don't have to be bothered with the handle issue. Honestly,we could probably have given the kids a magnifying glass and an old tupperware container and they would be just as happy with that!
