The microscope does not work well . The rest of the kit is great with lots of things for kids to do, but we can't see anything with the microscope. Either I am not doing something right, or it is not very good. There are really no instructions for that part. We are pretty frustrated this morning because it is a big part of this toy.

AWESOME! . this toy is the best toy I have ever encountered in myy life! it makes me feel like i am a real csi investigator!!!!!!!

CSI Review . After the kit was purchased, there was a recall about asbestos in the fingerprint part of the kit - I don't know if this applied to this set or not. The shipping charges were entirely too high.

The coolest! . this is the coolest i want be a csi agent when im older and this helps get a better understanding about forensics

batteries not included . Cool game and all, box calls for 4 "D" cells and 3 "9v" batteries, we got home and not only is there absolutely
no need for D's or 9v's anywhere in the game, the 4 AA's you do need to use the microscope you left at the store because the
box makes no mention of needing them!! grrrrrrrr

CSI . I like this game because I want to be a CSI like Gill Grissom

Neat and enjoyable . I bought this for my nephew who is into unique and diffrent things. I was not sure how he would like, but I thought it would be a great to try. Needless to say he loved it. Of course now there is a head sitting on his t.v. but oh well. I watch the show even though he does not.

Review of CSI Kit . Overall, we are happy with the product as it contains everything as shown in the picture and the fact that it came with an actual "case" to solve, really added value to the kit. I do want to mention, however, that we thought the carrying case would be more durable - made of metal, but it's plastic and has to handled with care. That would be my only complaint ... or suggestion for improvement.

Currently a lot cheaper at Toys 'R' Us. Great kit that is a lot of fun. . We bought this in Toys 'R' Us today for $29, which is supposedly their regular price.

It is a great kit, that pretty much performs as advertised. I agree with the other reviewer that the box is kind of flimsy, but for $29, I didn't feel that was a big issue. There is a lot to do with this, and is appropriate for both one child, or kids to do as a group. You won't be disappointed.

Overpriced on Amazon . Just bought one at ToysRus for $26. Price increased on Amazon from $49.99 to $52.95 in 6 hours. Looks like a cool toy but definitely not worth that much. FYI- The case is just thin cardboard.

The Box . I love this product and it works very well. Great for anyone who has never done anything like it.

The microscope is very cheap and i suggest to get a better microscope to solve cases

Poor Quality for the Price . My son was as disappointed as we were with this product. The invisible ink was missing, the black ink is nowhere close to finger print ink and very difficult to remove. The microscope lens is blurry...with and without the light. Overall- it's cheap plastic and not worth anywhere near $60. We are attempting to return this item; however to date (after approximately 9 days, the seller is not cooperating as far as allowing us to return it).

Liz Phillips - Situation Card? . My children got this toy for Christmas of 2010, and they really enjoyed playing with it, we had a lot of fun together playing with all that was included. My problem came when my wife found a love letter under the bed in our guest room, a love letter from Liz Phillips. I have been accused of an affair with Liz but I have no idea who she is. I'm assuming it came from this game. She mentioned a rose sketched at the bottom of the note. Have any of you seen this love letter in this kit? Please post a picture if possible. Thank you very much.

CSI Field Kit is cool but not everything you hope for. . The CSI Field Kit is a fun toy, but unless your child knows how to use it, it is frustrating. There is nothing that shows you how to use all the items in the box. Eventually, you end up with a lot of plastic toys that don't do anything, plastic gloves and police tape that get torn, etc. I also purchased other CSI toys-walkie talkies (don't work that well), a listening device, and a kit containing actual cases. That kit is somewhat useful, but you don't get to use all the cool CSI stuff the way the child expects.

not happy . I recently purchased this CSI kit for my daughter for Christmas and was disappointed. The products in the kit are very small, barely enough to do any experiments or tasks and the "case" it came in is made of thin, flimsy cardboard. The pictures and descriptions do not match the poor quality of the kit. In addition to buying a rather expensive kit, I now have to buy her a real case to keep it in because the cheap box broke as soon as she opened it. Not happy!

CSI FIELD KIT . I bought this for my grand daughter for her birthday, from the picture I was under the impression it was a real case not a cardboard case.. For the most part it was everything it was suppose to be.. She liked it but for the money I was hoping for a little better product.

Cons Review

Best Toy EVER !!!!!!!! . The Junior Kit is great and my kids love it, but the best part is the kit really works. Dusted around the broken glass from a car break in my home driveway. Found some prints and gave them to the local cops. Two punks were caught days later.

great for a 11 year old tom boy (girl) . I ordered this product for a Christmas gift for my 11 year old niece. She is picky about gifts. She got this gift and it was being put together the next day... I think she thoroughly enjoyed it. it was just as i have seen on CSI before when they try to do skeletal reformation. A good buy for little boys. . My oldest son HATES bugs. So when he got this for his birthday, I thought "We'll have to return that." To my surprise, this toy has helped him overcome his fear fo bugs and has even gotten his younger brother to forage outside for bugs with him! They are 8 and 5 and they are in love with this kit! I highly recommend it, even if you think your young one won't use it because of their fear of bugs. I say give it a try. It has totally turned my son onto insects and he loves findings all the different ones he can. Great toy!

Granddaughter Love It . We purchased this for our granddaughter who wants to be a forensic entomologist. She loves it. The only problem we encountered is that she couldn't understand the instructions. She's now waiting for insects to come out so she can use it.

THIS THING IS AWESOME FOR KIDS!!!!!!!!! . This kept my nephew busy for hours and even days!!!!!!!!! Great educational tool also.

Learn the principals of DNA Analysis and how it helps CSI to solve the case. Perform realistic tests which includes chemicals needed for analysis and a centrifuge to charge and analyze the DNA. This set includes a centrifuge, magnetic mixer, electrophoresis chamber test vials, ink samples, DNA stain (fabricated to look like real DNA) and more.

Great for the budding scientist! . My mother-in-law sent this for my son this Christmas and it is such a hit. Definitely a toy for the thinking child. My son is 9 and although I do have to minorly assist him, he is absorbing everything. Products used in the experiments are replaceable with common household items--such a plus for us because once is never enough. This product seems extremely durable, too, with holders for all the tubes, beakers, etc. I did see that the guide was age-inappropriate (i.e. Why does my child need to know that so-and-so was an exotic dancer before coming on the squad?), so I had to give it an overall 4. I hate to do that, but this is a toy.

Happy with product . This is a great project and was well worth the money for the future scientist, but definately needs supervision and the supply box leaks so be careful where you store it.

Mixed results . The beginning, basic level experiments in this lab work fine. However, as you get further into the more advanced experiments, you find out the equipment provided is substandard. We purchased this lab specifically for the electrophoresis chamber and centrifuge. Neither worked well. We have contacted the manufacturer, asking for suggestions on improving the use of this lab. They have not bothered to reply to our e-mails. I will not purchase any more items by Planet Toys.

This is the coolest thing eva. . I bought this toy because I wish to be a DNA analyst/CSI when I grow up. It is alot of fun, and I have learned alot from it so far. I love it! I'm Greg Sanders in training. =D

i was not pleased on bit!! I had no idea how to use it! . When i first got it i was sooo excited! But when i opened it, it had no instructions. even the 10 things to do with it didnt explain how to work everything. sure it was fun at first but then i realized, "how am i supposed to do anyhting?" the semi worst part was the stuff stunk. i got really nauseous when i got a wift of it. now i can usually handle smells but this was the worst! I got dizzy and almost through up! I wish i could have soaked everything in like bleach or sumthin just to get rid of the stench! I had to clean it too! i kept pointing my nose in the other direction and walking away for fresh air! I would not personally reccomend this. i ahve not been able to REALLY use it!! I dont no if directions was supposed to come w/ it or what but i can tell you that i was NOT pleased!!
