Great puzzle. . We purchased several of these puzzles for our 3 year old son. He loves them. The pieces are large and sturdy. We like that each state and Canadian province is its own piece. It's a great way for kids to learn geography and develop spatial coordination. We have all of the continents that are available. We highly recommend.

Wonderful way to learn your geography . The pieces on this puzzle line up to the provinces and states of North America. My 8-year old knows her geography really well, and the 5-year old is susprisingly good at it. The pieces in the outer edge of the puzzle interlock, but the inner ones do not (square states, for example)... so younger kids need help keeping pieces in place. A few of the larger pieces (e.g. Nunavut and Ontario) have warped a little too, making assembly even more tricky. I recommend this puzzle to adults too -- as an immigrant to the USA I had a tough time placing most of the states.

Huge hit with my 4 yr old . A friend recommended these puzzles to me and we started with this one. My 4 year old puts it together at least twice a day. I appreciate that the puzzle pieces are shaped like the actual state. It's been wonderful to see my son learn the names of each state and each state's geographical proximity. My only complaint is that the pieces are a little flimsy, which surprised me because it is made in Germany and we have had excellent luck with other German-made puzzles. It doesn't hinder my son, though; we just use some clear packing tape to reinforce the pieces when they start to bend a bit. My son is constantly asking me for the other puzzles in the series.

Very pleasantly surprised. . I picked up this toy for my three year old knowing that he likely wouldn't be able to do it or wouldn't have the interest. Little did I know that it would become his FAVORITE puzzle. He has been working 100 piece ones for some time, so the number of pieces wasn't a big deal. And he can put the pieces together all by himself and really only needs help with the Eastern states as they are smaller. I am in awe of how much he likes to talk about the states and Canada as he puts the puzzle together, and how he is always asking to work it. And once it is together, he LOVES talking about where family and friends live and where he has traveled to. The puzzle itself is very durable and I like how the shapes fit together pretty well and are realistic in size (the territories in Canada being huge over the states, and the states are various sizes). Overall, a very neat puzzle and I am excited to try another by this company.

Educational colorful and fun . My 6 year old son loves this puzzle. The pieces are thick and colorful, for the most part cut on state/province lines. I'd greatly recommend it for kids just learning the states and Canadian provinces. Older kids might not find it as interesting.

The only downside that I've found is that one of the outer ocean pieces has a narrow area. My son bent this piece slightly sideways while assembling the puzzle, and now it's beginning to tear. If your kids are really rough on their toys, you may end up gluing/taping this single piece back together after a month or so. We've not had a problem with the durability of any of the other pieces.

Overall, very educational, fun for kids who like puzzles.

Great Learning tool and fun. . Well, It's a puzzle. No batteries, no tv, or cartridge required. My kids enjoy video games like most kids, inasmuch we occasionally force on them an educational toy of sorts. This is one that they both enjoy (they are 7 and 8).

The puzzle itself, is of what Id gander is a high quality/density cardboard. Whats particularly nice about it is a majority of the pieces are often a country, state or territory (depending on which puzzle you are doing. We have several of these).

Aside from the enjoyment most kids get out of doing a puzzle, questions arise out of them in which i know they are learning. "Dad, there are two Washingtons?" "What does D.C. stand for?", "Alaska is one of the biggest states isn't it" and so on....

Though they are not exactly cheap for a typical puzzle, in my opinion you are getting your moneys worth for what the kids walk away with. A better understanding of the world we live in.

Geopuzzle . This is a great puzzle for child or adult who wants to learn the locations of countries. Educational, fun, attractive, and sturdy enough. I have several Geopuzzles and am pleased with all of them.

My PreK son loves it! . Albeit, my 4?-year-old son already loves puzzles. I wanted him to have fun while teaching him at the same time. After our first "puzzle lesson" he could already remember specific things about at least 10 states or Canadian provinces, like New Brunswick catches a lot of lobsters. Of course he loved constructing the puzzle more than learning, but he got the hang of it and was asking me after picking up each new piece, "what does this piece do mama?" Meaning, he wanted me to tell him what was special about that state or province. Cute fun!

Pieces don't click together not for 4 year old . Bought this for my 4year old...who is now 5. He is good with puzzles, he can do 100 piece puzzles by himself. Unfortunately, these do not click together as each piece has a straight cut side (no lock and key, curvy, locking sides) so its hard to keep the pieces together. Great educational toy. Not for 4-5 year olds unless they are with an adult.

Disappointed in a few things.... . Note: I am putting many owner pics above for reference on my review.I am really disappointed in this puzzle and Amazon has issues with the Product Features and description. (I will let them know)...I was looking for a good useable puzzle that has the shape of each state in the US... (ie..trying to re-create a fun family pastime of putting the US puzzle together in the quickest time and once you were so good at it you got blindfolded and had to do it all by shape.)... The product features mentioned Jumbo sized pieces (not true)...but since I ordered both the US/CDN and World puzzles I see the box top of the World Puzzle indicates "Jumbo" (still not true) but the US/CDN does not reference "Jumbo sized".Each US state does not have its own piece shaped like the state. (VA & WV are together, MD,DE & NJ are one piece hooked to the Atlantic Ocean , VT, NH & MA are all one piece as well).The cardboard stock of the puzzle is not thick and out of the box we have many pieces that are warped or "popped-up" - making it extremely frustrating for a 7 and 9 yr old to put together.The puzzle is 17" x 17" but from the top of ND to the bottom of TX is only 6.5" ... I believe the designer was trying to stay true to actual sizes of land mass - but since GeoPuzzle doesn't have a USA puzzle alone I didn't think this would be as much of an issue as it is. More than 2/3 of the depth of the puzzle is NOT the US. Also since many of the CDN territories are divided on solid lines, there are minimal "jigsaw interlocking" pieces in this puzzle. There is no way you could move it after assembling because many pieces are just aligned next to each other. This is the drawback of puzzles shaped as the state/territory.The colors are brilliant, I appreciate the State Capitals printed on each state, and the labels on the Oceans. My kids do love putting it together but I think I need to buy a wooden puzzle for possibly three times as much money to get what I am remembering from childhood.My three star rating is in response to the quality of the cardboard - and the fact that the USA is only 1/3 of this puzzle. I really think GeoPuzzle should look to make a USA alone version in addition to their existing line. They already have HI in a small box on the side - they could do the same with AK.

wonderful geography puzzle . We later bought all of the Geopuzzles because they are so great, but Asia was our first. These puzzles are tough and bright and big, and are great at teaching geography. I shopped around and I think these are the best. Our six year old, two year old, as well as my husband enjoy them a lot.

Fun and educational . Although this product is aimed at kids, it's a great tool for adults too. There's something about having the shape of a country in your fingers and seeing how it fits among its neighbors to help you remember just where in the world it is. We've got most of these puzzles -- the one of Africa is especially helpful since many of these nations have changed names and we don't spend a lot of time in school on African history and geography.

Love these puzzles . I ended up with one of each puzzle for my 7 and 10 year old sons. Both have really enjoyed learning the names of all these countries and putting everything together. It's wonderful to hear them as they go through Europe, Africa, Asia... in addition to learning the names of the countries, they are also picking up the oceans and seas, which are also marked. I think it's a tremendous way to learn geographic information. I've also learned some things that I never knew.

One reviewer said that the pieces don't stay together - it is true that since they are not "puzzle shaped" they don't have as many interlocking elements as other puzzle pieces, but both of my children were able to work around that.

A minor drawback is that sometimes that are large areas of ocean in the puzzles and it can be hard to figure out where those go.

Finally, some of the pieces can be very small so be sure you don't lose them.

I've been recommending this to all our friends - it's a great learning tool.

Great puzzle! . I bought this puzzle and several others in the same series to help teach my daughter geography. She's only 2 and she loves putting them together as a family. She's helped put them together so many times now, she knows where most of the countries go and can say the names of many of them. My only complaint is that they are cardboard instead of wooden like her puzzle of the U.S., but I haven't been able to find any companies that make wooden puzzles of continents other than North America. Great educational tool!

Fun With Learning! . We use these puzzles in our homeschool geography study. What a fun way to become familiar with continents and countries. Each month, we study a different continent. In addition to maps, colors, books and all that goes with it, these puzzles add some great fun to our class. The kids would put it together each day and race to see if they could beat their time from the day before. The loved it! As they get more familiar with the countries and where they go, the time gets faster! The children asked us to buy them all because they liked them so much!!

Phenomenal Puzzle . We received this GeoPuzzle yesterday and have completed it with our two year old son four times. He loves it and is already naming the countries.

We do the puzzle with a globe and the puzzle box nearby. We point to a country on the box and ask him what it is, or say what it is ourselves) and ask if he can find it. The bright colors make the pieces easy to find. ("Can you find a green country called Pakistan?") He always finds the piece and holds it up triumphantly. Then we put the piece in together and sometimes show him where the same country is on the globe. He has a wonderful time.

An older child, or even an adult, would have a great time working on this puzzle alone. I find that I'm getting a much better grasp of geography by playing with this.

The quality is excellent. The colors are vivid and the pieces seem as though they will withstand a great deal of abuse.

We're having so much fun with this puzzle that we're going to buy the rest of the GeoPuzzle collection. This is a fantastic way to play and learn political geography at the same time.

Good product . I have a two year old and I wanted to make him identify different countries in asia.When this product arrived , I did not like it initially as the quality of pieces were bad. However my kid started liking it and wanted to play this one atleast once everyday. I did not show him all the pieces at the beginning. Everyday I used to add one piece and he used to learn that. That worked well and he is almost done with the whole map.

I still feel that the quality and size of the pices could have been bigger and countries like India could have been kept in one piece and other smaller countries could have done in a separate piece.

Terrific learning tool . As my eight-year-olds have studied geography this year, I've looked for fun ways to help imprint the regions of the world on their memories. This puzzle is great because it is easy enough that they can do it every day in a fairly short period of time...my objective being learning countries and capitols rather than how to solve a puzzle. We bought all of the continent GeoPuzzles, so they sometimes have puzzle races. I love that the puzzles have country capitols on them. The only thing I wish they would do is magically change to reflect newly formed nations. I suppose that's not a reasonable expectation, so we'll have to draw in a new border on Sudan in our GeoPuzzle Africa!

great way to learn geography . Very cool cards with capitals on one side and countries on the other. There are 50 cards, about 10 from each continent. There are rules for games like "war" and "borders" that I played with my kids. Very fun way to introduce basic world geography to kids.

Great Cards! . These cards are nice and large and beautifully designed. They are laminated so are very sturdy. I'm not a teacher but I think these would be great for classroom use. Great at the dinner table... . I was looking for a way to inject some high-brow fun at the dinner table -- something easy to "play" that didn't require a lot of room or time. These cards have been a hit with the kids (ages 10 and 12) even though there was some resistance at first. The cards are sturdy and over-sized compared to typical flash cards. They are also very colorful. You can hold up the card and someone on the other side of the table can easily see and read it. At the end of dinner, we spend a few minutes competing with each other in remembering countries and capitals. I wish there were more than 50 cards. Great product!

Durable learning tool . Took this product to Africa to share with African teachers, who had never done a jigsaw puzzle - ever! They loved it! Different colors of countries on puzzle makes it very appealing. Pieces were tough and thick. None were tiny. Some were small and for age 5 and under, could be lost if not careful. But the joy on their faces made it all worth while.

Excellent for all ages! . I purchased this puzzle for my three and four year old daughters. When I first opened it I was a bit skeptical that they would be able to do it(it took me a bit to figure out). Once we did it together a couple of times, they now know where a majority of the pieces go and love putting it together! They are also able to name some of the larger countries.Not only are my daughters learning, but myself as well!! This is a great product and I plan on buying the rest of the collection as well.

Wonderful learning tool . This is a wonderful learning tool. Sadly, due to this puzzle and a globe I keep in his room, my 2 1/2 year old is more knowledgeable of African countries than I am. In a good way. Durable, brightly colored and fun to do (over and over), we come back to this puzzle quite a bit.

The best available . This is great fun even if you're not a kid anymore! There are a couple small puzzle piece edges that fray quickly from being awkward shapes, but I feel they did the best they could without resorting to wood. Just as a forewarning, yes most pieces are shaped like countries, but very small countries are tacked on to larger ones, and awkward extensions of certain countries are separated. Thus if you use the puzzle as a memory aid, places like Malawi or Eritrea can be easily overlooked.

Unfortunately, so much more information could have been encoded in the puzzle by overlaying a physical map; learn deserts and mountain ranges rather than "Oh, Chad is that big red piece." Nonetheless, I give the product high marks because it's the best available currently.

Great puzzle . I homeschool, and while we were working on an Africa unit, I purchased this puzzle to help my daughter better learn the geography of the continent. The pieces and the box have held up with all the handling, and I would recommend this item.

Terrific Puzzle for Geography . This toy was used in a mixed 5-8 geography class for a contest. The students loved it ,and they learned the countries placement using it.
I plan to buy the others in the series.

Wonderful puzzle . I bought this puzzle for my 2 and 4 year olds. We LOVE this puzzle. Sure, they need help putting it together but that is no big deal. It is a great learning tool. They are learning the location of all the countries as well as their names and capitals. They also learn about which seas and oceans are where.

As one reviewer noted, the pieces do not stay in place like regular puzzles. This is a bonus for me. I think it is better that the pieces are the actual shapes of the countries (which aren't shaped like traditional puzzle pieces). As long as you are putting the puzzle together on a flat surface rather than carpet you should have no trouble keeping them together. My two year old occasionally gets frustrated that they move a little until you get them all together but my 4 year old, and certainly any adults with patience, are able to handle this.

GREAT for my 4-year-old son! . My 4-year-old who LOVES all things map-related was able to do this puzzle by himself within a week or so. He has learned almost all of the country names now (3-4 weeks later) as well as bodies of water, simply by assembling the puzzle! The countries are mostly individual pieces, which is very helpful in teaching them the specific shapes, locations, and sizes of individual countries. The pieces are quite durable and easy to fit together. A GREAT gift for any kid who likes geography (or who resists it, such as my daughter...). Recommended.

I have a bright 3 yr old son who LOVES this puzzle . Pieces are smaller than I expected, but that was okay with me. I just hope we don't lose any pieces.

Great teaching tool. . This and the other GeoPuzzle maps (of the continents) is a wonderful way to introduce maps and geography to grade-school children. I homeschool and my children are picking up the names and placement of the countries in the world. A great manipulative tool.

Missing ocean. . I bought this puzzle for my almost 4 y.o. son. He is very interested in geography, and loves puzzles. This puzzle is a little hard for him right now, so I always do it with him. It seems to be pretty durable, and quite a few pieces are shaped like countries (not all of them). I only gave it 3 stars because it's completely missing Antarctica and Arctic Ocean. This was surprising to me.

Fun and educational--a great product! . A great product! I have all the Geopuzzles, and find them fun and educational not only for my grandchildren (and the children and grandchildren of my friends, for whom I buy the puzzles as gifts), but also for me and my friends. It's amazing how much we've forgotten--or never knew--about world geography, and the tangible, colorful, FUN refresher provided by working one of these puzzles is a blast. The new world puzzle is a treat because you can view everything at once, and many of the larger countries have their own pieces. Like the other continent Geopuzzles, this one increases our knowledge of where countries are located vis-a-vis their neighbors, and provides a basis for better understanding of the historical relationships among them.

So much better than other geography puzzles . We just got the World puzzle and already have the other ones. These puzzles are a great teaching tool for all ages. Pieces are shaped like each country (and yes, some countries are way too small to be individual pieces so they're part of other countries...do we really need pea-sized puzzle pieces?), capitals are easy to read and oceans are clearly marked. I really like this company.

Well made puzzle . We bought this puzzle for my map-crazy 4 year old. We like the fact that the pieces are the shapes of the countries - it's not just a picture of the map cut into arbitrary shapes. We have three by this company and they are all fairly solid in construction. There are a few where the piece is quite thin and a couple of these have broken - I think in the USA/Canda puzzle. This is not a disaster as they then just become two pieces ;-)

Excellent Learning Tool for Kids! . My kids, and the kids of several people we know, have learned a lot about world geography from this puzzle. The large countries have their own pieces, and a lot of the other pieces are shaped like several countries together. It's a good introduction, and we also own the other GeoPuzzles, which go into more detail by continent. These puzzles are very well-made and will hold up for a long time...

Fun and educational . Just so happens that my daughter loves puzzles, and this one has so much educational value I also bought one for her best friend for Christmas and then went out and bought the US version. Yeah, this is a great puzzle, especially for children first and second grade level.

Good puzzle with a few drawbacks . This is our first GeoPuzzle. I read the reviews and knew that the pieces, because they are meant to have the shape of the country, would not be interlocking. No problem. What I was surprised by was the fact that the ocean pieces, which are interlocking, are cut such that you can put a piece in the wrong place and have it look like it fits; the holes and knobs seem to be all very similar in size and placement. Additionally, some of the inside pieces have a straight edge that makes them look like they should be an edge piece. Not a big deal if you are using the picture to put the puzzle together (the ocean pieces helpfully have random boats on them so you can tell what goes where by using the picture), but if you are trying to put it together by trial and error (as we were the first time we did it) and using standard puzzle logic that straight pieces are edge pieces, you get messed up pretty quickly. So if your child will likely not use the picture, an adult should be right at hand to correct misplaced pieces until the child gets the hang of where the ocean pieces go. And as other reviewers have noted, some of the pieces are small (1 in by 1/2 in); they do lump 2 or 3 countries together into one piece in a couple of cases, and the islands are all just varying sizes of specks on the ocean pieces. Overall a good puzzle if you want a puzzle that has pieces that correspond to the shape of the country.

Excellent . I work with severely handicapped/emotionally disturbed students; many of whom have great difficulty processing lots of information on a page etc. These puzzles are excellent as they are the shape of the country with only the name and capitol imprinted on them. The pieces are sturdy and colorful. I'm delighted with my purchase and the service I received.

amazing learning toy . Can I give this more than five stars? I bought all of the GeoPuzzles and cherish them. They are a great family activity. My kids have learned so much world geography from these.

GeoPuzzle . My granddaughter has the Africa puzzle and loved it so I added this for her 5th birthday. I think that these puzzles are great for all ages. They also use the USA puzzle in her school. A good buy.

Geopuzzle . This is a great puzzle for child or adult who wants to learn the locations of countries. Educational, fun, attractive, and sturdy enough. I have several Geopuzzles and am pleased with all of them.

Latin American Puzzle . The puzzle is not made to have a normal shape once put together but nonetheless I believe it will be effective in assisting my students to learn the names of Spanish-speaking countries and their capitals

Great puzzle . We purchased several of these puzzles for our 3 year old son. He loves them. The pieces are large and sturdy. We like that each country is its own piece. It's a great way for kids to learn geography and develop spatial coordination. We have all of the continents that are available. We highly recommend.

My son LOVES these puzzles! . My five year old, map-obsessed son loves these puzzles. He now knows world geography far better than most adults. He and his older brother now take turns pulling a country piece out of the map and seeing if the other can tell which one is missing.

highly recommended with adult supervision . We actually are going to give this to my 3 1/2 year old daughter for Christmas. She has the North American one and it's been a WONDERFUL educational tool. Each state (except a few of the small New England area states) are a separate piece. It has really helped her to learn the location and name of every state, the corresponding capital and even the provinces in Canada. She is learning the bodies of water now. The pieces are only as durable as a regular jigsaw puzzle though. So, you have to watch if they stick them in their mouths or spill milk on them. We have a few "frayed" pieces.

pieces do not stay together . Like the other Geopuzzles, the pieces come apart if you touch them or accidentally move or slide the puzzle while you are putting it together. These puzzles are frustrating for adults, much less 4+ age children.

Also, the pieces are flimsy, particularly for the price.

A very good idea that has been poorly executed.
