This review is from : Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Reflector Telescope
Wonderful beginner scope . As a newbee to astronomy, I researched telescopes for months before deciding on the Skyquest XT8. My main concern was being able to carry it. I decided on this one because its total weight was around 42 lbs. You can seperate the base from the tube and carry it in two pieces, or you can carry the whole thing assembled. Since I am a female, 5'4", I still find it a bit bulky. However, I chose this one instead of a smaller one for the simple fact I want to see as much as I can see, and be able to carry it. I am so glad I did. My first few times seeing, I was awed. I easily found Jupiter: Very clear dark and light belts and surrounding moons, could even make out the dark spot! Saturn: Casini's division is evident on a clear, calm night, M42: stunning nebula like a "fan of light" in Orions sword, the moon looks so close, and you can make out so much detail in the craters, plus much more. I highly recommend the deluxe filter set also. The different filters make details in the planets and nebulae more visible. Blue is great for seeing Orions nebula, green gives jupiters belts more contrast, yellow helps with contrast in Venus cloud cover. Over all, I would give this scope a 10 out of 10. I certianly haven't been dissapointed! Orion's customer service is A+, which is incredible in itself.
Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Reflector Telescope Reviews
Orion XT8 SkyQuest Reflector Value Item ! . Lot of scope for the price, my first over 6 inches. Orion designed this to work right out of the box ! Main assembly is the base, will need a crescent wrench and phillips screw driver, rest is included. Sections of the base are pre-drilled, goes together rather easily. One of the best features of this model is that the scope moves silky smooth, up and down movement is wonderful, the base movement left to right is fine but slightly less easy as the cradle. Does have a problem looking straight up (Zenith) but to be fair, all my other mounts (equatorial and a fork mount) lack perfomance in this position.

Rain arrived same day as my scope, so later will give future optical performance, did look at ground objects and is very promising. Unit comes with a nice optical alignment eyepiece, was a slight shift from delivery, found it easy to tweak it in minutes, gives a bulls-eye when correctly centered.

At last clear sky, but full moon, still viewed the famed double double in Lyra, more alignment is needed but still obvious, tried to find M57 a known ring Nebula but the moon won out, observing the full moon was a beauty, use to seeing a washed out moon when fully lit but could see lots of detail-moving on to the North Star for its companion, was visible in lower powers, used a Televue Nagler 4.8MM for 250X, Huge Black Gap with the blue twin easily seen. A smaller scope will find this one but the companion glowed in the 8 inch. Mid morning hours had to glimpse at Mars, best eyepiece again the Nagler gave an impressive image, with a blue filter easily saw the polar cap, even tho smaller now, and pattern(s) showing. Couldn't resist using a 2X barlow on the Nagler eyepiece but the sky conditions would not permit detail, however the larger Martian Disk made the Polar Cap even more obvious.

Deep Sky will have to wait for when the moon clears. This is Not a portable, but is manageable as breaks down to the scope and the base, each about 20 lbs. Set up is fast and I like the spring mechanism, makes the movement even better. Also allows 2 inch eyepiece viewing as well as standard 1 1/4 inch. Will have loads of fun with this one.

Deep Sky (Clusters, Nebula, Galaxies, etc) is where a larger aperature will excel. The 8 inch image of M57 famed Ring Nebula was easy in just low power 60X, and large at 120X, could see the ring looking straigth on tho averted vision showed abit more, M27 the Dumbell, extended biscuit shape showed well again in only 60X, before the moon arrived glimpsed M13, large globular, tho the center blended together outer regions broke apart seeing more stars than use to in smaller instruments-all was just before full darkness, did manage to seek out Mars as keeps getting larger in the early morning sky, only few days after full moon shielded it with trees and Mars view was starting to show more detail, takes patience see, looking forward to better sky conditions. Later tried M13 at 250X, blew it apart, stars near core, breathtaking image even tho starting to get lower in sky !

MARS:
Sept 27th 4 AM, day after the rain cleared the skys and gave a beautiful view (250X, 4.8 Nagler televue eyepiece) of the planet, hints of detail, a S shape band across the center sphere, with Syrtis Major (triange like) easy to see, unfortunately the Martian Summer is steadily decreasing the size of the S P C (South Polar Cap) but could see a bright bead popping in and out of view. Angular size is now just over 17. Was intown viewing only, as the skys fogged up in the country, used the trick of observing under tree(s) to hold down the dew-rewarded with excellent seeing, used 80A Blue Filter.

Trapezium (E & F), Orion Nebula :
Late Sept AM viewed the Orion Nebula, not at transit but wanted to see the trapezium, a tight 4 star group nestled in the Nebula, easy to see the 4 stars but two others nearing 11th magnitude can be a slight challenge ( also are located close to brighter neighboring star(s) ), for the first time saw both of these E and F, conditions had them blinking on and off, the 8 inch gave my first glimpse at both of them, smaller apertures is possible, but I only detected one at best, this first time view for me was worth the price of the scope ! And the Orion Nebula, was beautifully flower-like, hints of green color.

MARS - Saturn Oct 1 BEST VIEW:
Just finished viewing Mars near 5 AM, 4 AM mirror was still settling even tho stored in garage, could not see the Trapezium Companions E and F till near 5 AM, went back to Mars and was huge difference, globe was now sharp, features showed the Syrtis Major starting to enter, but the two other Mare regions near center had details ! Areas defined, my best view to date ! Tho low in horizon looked at Saturn, could easily see the Cassini Division, more detail promised when transit is reached. Also observed a beautiful open cluster below Canis Major, exceptional night indeed and the XT8 performed much better than expected. Used Orange filter and 80 A Blue Filter, again Televue Nagler 4.8mm eyepiece 250X.

Comet Oct 2006:
Just caught Comet Swan 2006, is abit low so need horizon viewing, between Magnitude 6 and 7 for October in early evening sky after dusk, at 60X with 20mm supplied eyepiece nucleus of the comet had some size, moving scope hints of tail, about any size scope will pick this one up but the XT8 brightened the view, appears as a fuzz ball off handle of the big dipper nearing Bootes, use lower power to locate as no luck till I used a 40mm eyepiece for wider view, then 20mm gave exceptional image at 60X..all kinds of info on Comet Swan 2006 via internet, turned out brighter than expected, a great Oct 2006 object..<>..

Last on optics, not a perfect 10 (still does well !) but lots of things to iron out here, perhaps adding more areas of rest for the mirror, and lighter adjustment where the mirror is held in place-note also this is a F/6 system, shorter focal length, shorter tube does permit storage in my Sunbird's trunk ! Also allows lots of seeing in a seated postion. Fun Skys Ahead, WARREN .<>.
Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Reflector Telescope Opinions
Recommended . Firstly, before ordering online, please visit your local retailer and have a look/feel of the scope.

I bought this to replace a 60mm telescope which is very inconvenient to use and has given me more frustration than pleasure. Please, don't even consider buying smaller telescopes.

It took me about 2 hours to assemble the whole thing and I was being "helped" by children 3 year and 6 year old.

The base is made of wood. Weight-wise, it easy to carry, but shape-wise, it is hard and awkward. I have been carrying it without dismantling the tube/barrel.

In the beginning I was worried due to the lack of mechanism for fine adjustments. After I started using it, all my worries have disappeared - the movement is that smooth.

The scope looks big. XT6 appears to be reasonable in size for home use. I haven't compared the two looking at the sky, but XT6 is only ~4 pounds lighter. XT8 permits 2" eyepieces, XT6 doesn't. XT8 doesn't come with any 2" eyepieces, though.

Let me emphasize that it is very important for you to call Orion, find local retailers, call them to make sure that they have one on floor, visit them, and feel the scope.
Astounding! . Orion delivered on all they promised. I have enjoyed many nights of wonder and entertainment for myself and my family. This easy to use Telescope (XT8) is an excellent choice for a beginner. The simple design and easy set-up allowed me to begin my astronomy adventure the day my telescope arrived.

My interest in telescopes began with a Meade telescope purchased from a wharehouse. The frustrating instructions, total lack of customer support from Meade ( I waited over an hour, long distance, before a voice message informed me of an 800 number ) and missing parts prompted me to return it. On line research lead me to Orion and the rest has been nothing but enjoyment of the heavens.

You get a lot of bang for your buck! Saturn and Orion are awesome. I am planning ahead and have marked my calendar for the next available view of Jupiter. Orion's web-site continues to provide excellent useful information that is helping me to develop a wonderful hobby.

Amazon's buying power shaved a few days of my wait while this model was on backorder from the manufacturer.
Great telescope . I am very impressed by this telescope so far, although I haven't spent a lot of time looking at anything beyond a few planets and the moon. The views of Saturn are incredible. I can't believe how well I can make out the rings.

The only negatives of this telescope are the size and weight. It is a pain dragging it out of the garage each night.
The ideal amateur telescope . This is not only the ideal scope for beginners but enough of an instrument to show you new things in the sky for years to come. It is sturdy and simple to operate. It has enough light-gathering power (more important than magnification) to reveal dim star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies and good enough optics to show you the surface of planets like Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars. Affordable as this scope is, there is no reason to give so much as a glance at the numerous trashy 60mm refractors with exaggerated magnification claims that litter the market.

Some advice on selection. Dobsonians like this one come in a range of sizes. A 114mm (4 ?") is a bit on the small side but still a fine instrument, especially if your ability to carry large objects is limited. A 200mm (8") scope like this one is right in the middle of the recommended range. A 250mm (10") is on the big side, and you should buy one only if you are able-bodied.

Some advice on use. Viewing through a telescope is less like playing a CD and more like playing a guitar. Finding objects takes a little bit of practice. To simplify it, I would suggest discarding the finder supplied with this scope and installing two finders: a 50mm "crosshair" finder plus a red-dot finder to aid in initial pointing. You will also need to buy an atlas (Sky & Telescope's Pocket sky Atlas is the best available), a red flashlight to view the charts without blowing out your badly-needed night vision, and a guidebook to lead you to interesting objects. These investments will greatly add to your enjoyment.

What more can I say? This is the kind of scope that experienced observers have been trying to steer novices towards for decades. Although, I recommend that you do your homework before buying any scope--learn the sky and get to know experienced stargazers who can advise you--when it comes time to purchase, you could hardly do better than this scope.

For more advice, see my encyclopedic guide here on Amazon, "So you want to buy a telescope."
Good price good scope. . If you've never bought a telescope before - this is my recommendation. We researched for months before we purchased and this has been everything we dreamed of. Dobsonian mounts are much easier to use than equitorial - for the beginner. However, if you're going to get really serious in the future, note that Dobsonians aren't as precise, and on hot, humid nights, one wrong move and you're 20 million light-years away from where you wanted to be. Equitorial gives you more versatility, particularly at high magnification and for moving objects. Orion builds a good, durable scope with nice mirrors that have really good detail unless you start pushing the upper limits on this. Weight and light-capture are a tradeoff. If you want to see more, you're going to carry more. This is not a small scope - it's about 4 feet tall and a bit heavy. I wouldn't let a child much under 13 carry it around. Despite what you may read, the stand does allow you to put the scope about anywhere you want. The limitation is that folks should stand still or the ground vibrations can make it difficult to see deep-sky options. The software included for finding stars and objects is almost as much fun as the scope itself. It doesn't have the night-view option, but that's available with an upgrade.
Great Tele . I have been exploring telescopes for me, and I want a good sized aperture with good resolution, all around good. This tele is amazing!

* Ideal for breadboard applications

Note: Requires external USB-to-TTL FTDI-type cable or adapter

This review is from : Solarbotics Ardweeny (smallest bread-board friendly Arduino-compatible)
I look foward to several more of these... . ...but at $15 shipping, it better come in gold leaf wrapping, with a DVD of how it can be used. Shesh...it's barely a #11 envelope sized thing. $15?!?!

This review is from : Orion AstroView 6 Equatorial Reflector Telescope
Nice Scope with Plastic in all the Wrong Places . OTA scope seems fine, but the EQ tripod itself is constructed of plastic where it counts most -- at the moving joints. The leg tensioner broke on the 1st night out. Need to find a quality used mount as a replacement.

Nikon T-Ring

This review is from : Celestron T-Ring / T-Mount Adapter f/Nikon
Does it's job: DIGITAL USERS BEWARE! . This item works excellently with the Celestron T-adapter, and even a cheap telescope. However, there's something that all Nikon DSLR owners should know:

I used this on my D200, and it was WAY tighter than I was comfortable with. Lenses/adapters are not supposed to be this tight. I was terrified, putting it on. I almost chickened out.

Also, this doesn't have the stops that the lenses do - this item will spin in the camera's lens bezel, until it can come out again at the next 1/6th turn.

It didn't damage the camera, but it sure felt like it had the potential. Otherwise, it allowed me to take some great pictures, quickly, with little learning curve, and a cheap telescope with a 1.25" eyepiece.
Celestron T-Ring / T-Mount Adapter f/Nikon Reviews
Tight fit on camera great fit on T-adapter and visual back . I like to perform a functions check on everything I buy right away just in case there is a need to return it right away. This one looked easy. Slip it on like a lens and screw onto the T-adapter. When I went for it, the T-ring grabbed the camera like a vice. I then screwed on the T-adapter and attached the whole contraption to the telescope. It certainly felt secure, so I have no apprehensions about using this setup with my camera. It was when I attempted to take off the ring that I found myself struggling a bit and even heard a somewhat unpleasant noise when the ring finally slipped off. I thought I'd damaged the camera, but a quick test with a lens confirmed that all was fine. Not content to leave it there, I practiced a few more times and now feel comfortable hanging on to this item.
Celestron T-Ring / T-Mount Adapter f/Nikon Opinions
Celestron T-Mount adapter for Nikon . I was a little worried about an adapter for Nikon because there have been several different Nikon mounts over the years. I own several cameras - digital and film - so I was relieved that this adapter works in most of them. I can verify that it works for N80s, N90s, D80s and D90s. The downside is that I really don't expect it to last as long as my cameras have.
Celestron T-Ring Adapter . Well, as expected, it's a ring, and fits my Nikon cameras (D50 and D100). There isn't much to write in a review of it, as it's just an adapter. :)

Celestron 18778 AC Adapter for Computerized Telescopes

Price : $29.95
BUY NOW
Celestron 18778 AC Adapter for Computerized Telescopes - This 2.5 amp Universal AC Adapter is compatible with all Celestron computerized telescopes. Includes a two year warranty. Compatible with all Celestron Nexstar i, Celestron Nexstar GPS Telescopes also compatible with Celestar 8, Ultima 2000, CI700, CG Telescopes

This review is from : Celestron 18778 AC Adapter for Computerized Telescopes
A Basic Necessity . The bottom line on Celestron's SE series is that battery power is not enough. AA batteries drain quickly, and if you are using a dew zapper (also a necessity on SCTs) then that alone will drain your battery is just four hours on Celestron's smaller power tank. Plug your scope in, and the drain is even faster. If you're planning to be out for any length of time you should really consider this accessory. I use it with my 8" SE nearly every time I am out and can plug into a power source. It's never failed me yet.
Celestron 18778 AC Adapter for Computerized Telescopes Reviews
Good purchase . I ordered the adapter so I wouldn't go through so many batteries when using our telescope at home. It was a great purchase and well worth it. As with many battery operated items, as the batteries get used, the device they power starts to slow down. This is the case with our celestron telescope. Not only does it slow down, when the batteries get to a certain point in their use, the star tracking functions stop working correctly. So, even though the 'scope has power to move, it's slow and and won't follow the star tracks. Not only that, but it won't even correctly star align on start up. But, with the power adapter, that's no longer a problem. The built in functions of the 'scope work perfectly and the 'scope moves with authority when changing from one object to another and correctly stays fixed on the object as it moves through the sky.
Any drawback would be having to connect it to an electrical cord and make sure you don't trip over it, but that's a minor problem. I'd definiately recommend this to anyone with a 'scope.
Celestron 18778 AC Adapter for Computerized Telescopes Opinions
Happy customer with Celestron AC Adapter . I ordered a Celestron NexStar 4 Telescope for my husband as a Christmas present. After researching Amazon's site for other related products I found the AC Adapter. This is a must have for any of the Celestron telescopes along with the battery pack. I appreciated that the information was so easy to find and the telescope along with the AC Adapter was delivered on Christmas Eve only 5 days after my order. Thank you Amazon!
power adapter . like all power cords this one gets some issues where the cord meets the plug in on the product end.
If your not set up for cord wrap issues and you are an avid scope user learn to tie a half hitch so
the pull stress isnt on the end of the cord.
An important accessory that works well . I have used this accessory with my Celestron C-8 SGT GOTO telescope. It worked as it is supposed to, providing power to the telescope. I even used it on a very cold (25-30 F) night and it worked fine. If you own a GOTO telescope, this accessory is a must.
Good thing to have! . Good thing to have for your telescope when star gazing from home. Two minor cons: the connection between the adapter and the telescope is a little loose (almost like the male and female connectors are not quite matching); also, Celestron should have put the AC connector receptacle in the fixed part of the base, the part that does not rotate - now, I always have to be careful with the power cable so that it does not tangle or fall off when the telescope rotates.
Great AC Adapter . I'm using this on my Celestron SkyProdigy 130 and it's doing great. It has a pretty long cord so you don't have to be right next to the power outlet.
Great for backyard use . I can't imagine using this product anywhere other than my backyard. One of the complaints I saw on this one was a loose fit on the mount itself. However, it was tight enough for my needs. I'd recommend wrapping around the tripod legs and accessory tray to create enough slack. This ought to prevent any power outages caused by user error. Just don't trip over those cords or you'll be bringing down your whole setup!
Performs as expected. . I purchased the AC adapter for use when AC power is readily available in close proximity to my observing setup. The unit is straight-forward and a no-brainer to use. Reasonable quality for the money.

Cons Review
Does not work . As stated before in an earlier review, the plug does not sit right, it is too lose and falls right out.

Feature Celestron 18778 AC Adapter for Computerized Telescopes

This review is from : Fisher Price - Learn Thru Music Plus With Laurie Berkner
Huge Fan of Laurie Berkner Son can't get enough!! . Hello,

I just thought I would let all of you know a little more about this product. I bought the original and stumbled upon this one on the site and had to contact Amazon to find out what it was, just received it. It is a bit beat up but I will be contacting them. This is the complete plus system with the Laurie Berkner catridge, we are huge fans! This is not sold in stores, you can only purchase on Amazon. The songs included are Boots, Bottle Caps, I'm Gonna Catch you, Fruit Salad Salsa and Drive my car. I haven't given it to my son yet, as it is a Christmas present, but tested it out and he is sure to love!

Fisher Price - Learn Thru Music Plus With Laurie Berkner Reviews
An ABA teacher's dream . I am an ABA teacher and therapist for young children on the Autism Spectrum. I have had the original version of this toy for years (2 actually) and just purchased the newer version. While it is a little pricey on Amazon, it was imperative I get the Laurie Berkner Cartridge. This toy motivates my students more then anything else. I use it as a reinforcer and I have yet to meet a child that does not love this toy. The microphone is a great incentive to encourage speech from the children as well. A HUGE must for any ABA therapist or teacher. Worth every penny...
Fisher Price - Learn Thru Music Plus With Laurie Berkner Opinions
My little girl LOVES this toy!!! . I bought the Learn through Music Plus system with the Laurie Berkner cartridge from Toy's R Us for about 40 or 50 dollars a few months ago. It has a lighted touch screen and the cartridge is like a scroll. It goes through quite a few different pictures that play different songs for each one. It's really cute and a must have for your little music lover. I think this is the closest thing to a handheld video game for small children and they can learn from it. My daughter plays with it almost every day!! Every time we visit people and she brings it all the other kids huddle around her because they want to play with it. It's a really great toy!
Lovin' and learnin' thru music . My grandson who is 2 1/2 is definitely tuned in to music so when I saw this toy I thought it was a terrific way to learn. My son tells me that Ben loves it and plays it all the time. I'm sure he's learning also. I'll know better when I visit next.
Great for Preschoolers . This was a Christmas gift for my two year daughter. She loves the music and knows all the songs already. She can even spell "Boots" now. It's a little loud but I would definitely recommend it for toddlers.
Super fun educational toy! . This is the best toy I think I have ever purchased. My grandson began playing and singing with it the moment he opened it. He is so attached to it now that it is trouble when his toy is put away for bedtime or meals. He is 19 months old and loves every minute with his new favorite toy. His mom loves that it is so educational and keeps him occupied for hours while she does her own thing around the house. I highly recommend this toy to anyone with a toddler!
Great toy for kids ages 2-4 . My 21 month old daughter loves her new Learn Through Music Plus! She has just discovered the microphone and is having a blast singing into it and hearing herself. Right now she enjoys the songs the most, but I'm sure in a couple of months she will understand the "games" more. We purchased a few more cassettes and she really likes the Elmo Scavenger Hunt. I really like the Laurie Berkner cassette, although the songs are a bit short so hearing them over and over can get a little annoying. There is a volume control, but even the soft volume is a bit loud. Otherwise, it's a great toy. This toy was a big hit with my almost 4 year old nephew too! He played with it the whole time he was at my house.
great find . I couldn't believe that this was the same machine that sells for almost twice as much elsewhere. My daughters are HUGE Luarie B fans from watching Jack's Big Music Show.
My sister-in-law recommend the toy and when found this version I was thrilled.
Its a Xmas gift so they haven't played with it yet, but I anticipate hearing it every day.

This review is from : 24 Game Double Digits
Wow..I'm shocked!!! . The game 24 math challenge is awesome. I bought single and double digits games for my 5th grade daughter. Her school was holding a tournament. She came in first place. She learned so much and picked it up very quickly. I highly recommend this game. You really have to know your multiplication facts and patterns. This game is very educational and more importantly...FUN!!!!!!!! I highly recommend it.
24 Game Double Digits Reviews
Seems to be addictive! . My son found out about this game at school and pestered me endlessly to get it for him. Over the months since then he's played it so much that his ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply in his head has become pretty amazing. Granted he did like math to begin with which probably helps a lot but this game has really helped to bring his grade up. Amazing what you can get away with when you call it a game instead of educational. There are three levels of cards from fairly easy to pretty hard so it isn't too hard to get a child started on it.
24 Game Double Digits Opinions
24 Game Double Digits . This is a great educational game that lets kids have fun learning math facts. Kids get excited challenging each other to see who can work the problem backwards and solve using each number only once.
Amazing!!! . This 24 Double Digit Math Game is absolutely fantastic! Not only is it fun, but educational as well. I initially bought the single digit game and it quickly became a big hit with the entire family. My in-laws who are in their 60's also enjoyed it. I immediately bought them one since they thought it was a great way to keep their minds "fresh" at their age.
After my kids finished the single digits game, I purchased the double digits one. It is just as great as the single digit, but with more of a challenge. When my daughter came home and saw the package, she quickly ripped open the package to start playing it right away with me. As we were playing, I found myself thinking about getting the 24 Game Variables next!!
I work at an elementary school and all the children love 24! When there is down time, the kids are anxious to play this game in math. I've even suggested that there should be a "Math 24 Club" at the school - that's how popular this game is!!
I strongly recommend the 24 Math Game to all kids (and adults).
Challenge24 Game Review . This game is very educational and promotes using addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. It's fun too. And it's great for many age groups.

Worth It! . Due to the lack of informative reviews, this microscope sat in my Amazon shopping cart for nearly a year. When the time came that we really needed to have a microscope for my son's home school science class, I went ahead and purchased it. My only regret is that we didn't get it sooner!

The microscope comes packed very well! Every piece was in place, safe & sound, when we opened it.

It was very easy to 'put together', as we only had to add the 4x, 10x, and 40x objective lens pieces, along with the 10x huygens eyepiece. Too simple. Has a very nice dust cover with it. The thicker plastic, nothing cheap.

As for the durability, it's heavy enough to remain in place as you're using it, just the right weight for moving it around if you need to. The arm is easy to tilt, and it's tight enough to stay in place unless you're intentionally tilting it.

Has a mirror to direct sunlight or your artificial lighting up under the specimen stage. Mirror has both a normal and concave side (to focus more light). It flips, no taking out pieces to switch them.

Now the best part, the magnification. Wow, it really works! And so very easy to focus! We had the prepared slides on the specimen stage right away, and my son was just in awe (as was I!) at how clear we could see the items on the slides. When looking at the intestine slide, my son said, "Mom, this would be gross if it wasn't so cool!" The 4x lens (along with the 10x eyepiece) has so far been enough magnification, but we've tried all three & they're great!

I don't know if the prepared slides are the same with each microscope, but the 5 that came with ours are:
1. Intestine
2. Honey Bee Mouth Parts
3. Corn Stem
4. Year Tilia Stem
5. Winter Jasmine Leaf

I would definitely recommend this microscope. It's at least everything that we hoped it would be, and need it to be!

Sure hope this helps anyone else thinking about getting one!

Celestron 44102 400x Power Laboratory Biological Microscope Reviews
can't beat it for the money . I took something of a risk buying these for my science department with my little budget. As inexpensive as these are I was really afraid they wouldn't work and I'd be blowing money I could have spent on fewer more expensive ones that would have certainly worked. Big sigh of relief here now. When they came in they were easy to assemble, and then I put that first slide on there for the moment of truth. After some messing around with the mirror and focus knob, bam! Clear picture of that onion cell! There is no powered light source, just a mirror, and that was a worry until I made it work just fine. Only a single focus knob instead of the fine and coarse focus like you might be used to, but that single knob does the trick. Very solid metal construction and very substantial feel. You know you aren't dealing with a toy. Comes with a very thick dust cover too. It's the real deal. If you are a department head looking for microscopes, buy some of these and save the rest of your budget for other stuff. It's got everything you could want (almost). This thing is an incredible value. When I get a little more budget money next year I'm buying more of these.
Celestron 44102 400x Power Laboratory Biological Microscope Opinions
Great value for the money! . Admittedly, I bought this microscope for an unusual purpose, to turn into a robotic digital microscope. As a result, I've stripped the stage off it and glued a webcam without the lens to the eyepiece. But I could only do that because this is such a high-quality, well built item. The construction is sturdy, with metal parts where a cheaper microscope would be plastic. The optics are great, and components such as the focus rack turn smoothly. I don't know why anyone would buy one of those cheap kids microscopes, when you can get this one for so little money.
Great microscope . I got this for a smart, conscientious 10-year-old and it seems to be perfect. It came with 3 objective lenses and a single eyepiece lens, along with a manual in good English and a sturdy plastic dust cover. One thing I would note is that it did not come with any blank slides, so we will be buying those separately. It did come with 5 nice pre-made slides to look at.
Better than I had hoped for . I bought this for my son 2 years ago and it has been a great purchase. I like to use a product for a long time before reviewing it. We had gotten cheaper microscopes in the past and we got what we paid for. This microscope is extremely durable and well made for the price--I was not expecting it to be this nice. It's simple to put together and easy to use. Getting the light just right is tricky at times but that's a user issue. We've made a lot of slides to examine under this microscope and it never fails to amaze. Well worth the money.
Great Purchase . I got this microscope just to play around with at home. I got an LED book light to use as the light source, which I highly recommend. This microscope has an excellent quality to price ratio. The only real downside is that I have to move the slide around on the stage by hand, which is definitely fine considering the money it saved me. So far I've looked at blood and pond water, both of which are fascinating to look at.If you're just looking for an affordable microscope to play around with and enjoy at home, this is the one you want.
Pretty good for the price . Haven't used a microscope before but found this pretty easy to use. Had some difficulty using the 400x zoom because the instructions asked to be careful not to touch the slide with the objective lens but you really had to get the objective extremely close to the sample to see the slide at that magnification. Maybe it is like that with microscopes, I just am totally new so I was afraid to do so and couldn't get it to work until after a few hours.
Great Deal...... . The Microscope was a big hit with my granddaughter. She Loves it. I found it to be very well made and it was very reasonably priced. I highly recommend it! Thanks so much, Margaret
Microscope . I haven't had a chance to try this product out yet but for the price I can already tell that I got a great deal.

Cons Review
Damaged . Item poorly packed. Mirror frame attachment broken and had to repair. Overall quality fine. Could have included extra slides. Price was decent but I'd rather spend more and get better quality scope.

Great product for the price . This was a Christmas gift for my husband who kept dropping hints all year. He was super surprised. Easy to assemble and great for checking out the moon. We have tried to follow the space station when viewable, but it moves to fast to track it with this scope. We need accessories for more magnification.
Celestron NexStar 130 SLT Reflector Telescope Reviews
Sweet telescope! . The first shipment from this vendor was damaged in transit. Not their fault. Exchange procedures were VERY easy and amazingly prompt. Highly recommended vendor!!
The telescope operates very well, although there is a learning curve to the alignment procedure. I added a Barlow lens to double magnification--incredible!!.
