Wonderful Flash Cards . I got this set for my son (as well as levels A and B) right before my son started kindergarten. It was nice to let him practice some of the easier sight words, and it really helped him as he started school. These flash cards are great as well, because they taught him words that are not pronounced phonetically as well as words that he began to see a lot as he started to read books. He enjoyed the "flash card" system, and even asked to work with them. Now, as he is in second grade, I still use the cards. This time, though, I use the cards to help him with spelling these words. He is an auditory learner and tends to try to write all words phonetically. By showing him these cards, I can let him see what the different words look like--and how they are not spelled as they are heard. My second son is starting kindergarten, and we have started to use the flash cards with him. I feel that we have gotten years of use out of these cards, especially since they are so durable. I know that they print words on both sides of the card to make the package less bulky, but I do wish , as another reviewer pointed out, that the words were only printed on one side so that I could put them in piles of "what my child knows" and "what my child doesn't know." Other than that, it is a wonderful educational product.

Great learning game & fun! . My daughter had some trouble conceptualizing fractions and this game made it concrete for her. We had fun putting together the pizzas. The game doesn't take long and you can add some extra learning to it yourself. For instance, ask your child what is larger 3/4s or 1/2. They can see the little pizzas and can tell you the answer. They will have this concrete image stored inside their little brains and when asked the same questions in school will be able to tell their teacher. Great fun with a learning bonus!

Not the most educational but fun. . The game I was sent was actually warped and the spinner looks like it has been through the ringer.

However, after playing it for the first time tonight, my 4, 7, and 9 year olds LOVE it.

The other negative, other than the condition, is that I fail to see how it is really eduacational. The spinner shows the actual toppings from the pizza rather than the fractions so my kids were more likely to call, "I got a mushroom" than to say, "I get 1/2".

Pizza game . I am an elementary math teacher. I have worked with students in grades 1st - 5th. I changed schools this year and this is one of the games I used at my old school. When I found it on Amazon at a great price I ordered it to use with my students. I have not taken it to work yet. My kids at home are enjoying it.

Fun fractions but very basic . If your goal is to use this game to get your children to understand basic fractions you won't be disappointed. If however you've been working with fractions and your child understands them (say you involving them in cooking where measuring is required), you may find this too basic. While it's great to know that 4 quarters make a whole and you can add 1/2 and 2/4 and get a whole, that's about the extent of the creativity this game offers. My child gets frustrated because other than those combinations, (and the regular 4/4 etc.) he can't add the pieces of pies with different toppings and make a whole pie. Good, but not great. Could be much much better or perhaps the company could offer a more advanced game?

Auntie's fraction game . This game is very educational, I think that we are going to have loads of fun with it

Learning fun . Lab in a bag - blast of color was a good experience for my Grand-daughters ages 5 and 7. We did the many experiments and enjoyed seeing the changes in colors and the growth of little beads. We even made a form of snow! They loved it however an adult does need to be right there with children to do the experiments properly. The directions should be read ahead of time to make the process go faster as they are lengthy. The end result; it was a great memory maker for spending time together. All products are safe for the kids but there are some cautions on pouring some liquids down the drain as they could cause some problems so do read the directions.

Good fun . My kids like to experiment, and they really liked this kit. It's pretty basic so good for beginners and easy enough for a 4 yr old to help with.

Fun Time! . I ordered this for my 5 year old daughter who is into making "potions" and we had a great time doing them. Instructions are very good, point by point on how to do perform each experiment and how to get the most out of what the child observes. With a 5 year old, you really have to be there to help but I can also see how this would be great for an older "scientist" too. Great purchase!

Scientific Fun . I purchased this for my 8-year-old granddaughter. She told me, "This is my best gift ever!" She really enjoyed the scientific experiments, like growing crystals, and was looking forward to trying out more things. My daughter said it held her interest and she was still excited about playing with it days after receiving the kit.

A good choice . Our 6 year old grandson loved it. His 4 year old brother joined in the fun, too. It was a birthday present. He like it so much he requested another "kit" for Christmas.

Too Easy! . While this is recommended for ages 3-8, it was no challenege at all for my 5 year old and my 3 year old was able to figure everything out pretty simply within a matter of minutes. I would have expected it to be more of a challenge and a longer-lived item, but since it was so easy they haven't bothered with it much since the first day we got it.

Great product wish more tiles were included . Great toy that my three year old enjoys to play with. I only wish the product had less packaging and more tiles.

Fun! . Bought this for my 8 year old son whos ambition is to become a paleontologist... He loved it. Easy to put together. We used wood glue to permentantly connect the pieces as it would fall apart when he picked it up. Great buy for the cost!

Great for playing teacher!! . I bought these hand pointers as my elemetary age children asked for them to play teacher at home. They were trying to imitate their own teachers. I liked that such a simple toy caused my 6 year-old to be excited to review her spelling words that are posted every week on my refrigerator. They feel sturdy enough for rough play and due to the fact that it is a stick one must supervise children when playing with the pointer.

A Good Utility Tool and Student Motivator . I purchased one of these at my school's book fair several years ago. I was looking for a tool that would help students to use the Smartboard interactive white board. Sometimes students cannot reach the upper part of the board, making it impossible to activate the pull down windows. Also, I wanted to be able to use the board without standing in front of it or creating an obstruction (me)for students sitting to the right or left.
This works perfectly!! Students love using it and feel in control when they have the pointer. It's a great motivator when you hand it to a student and give him/her the chance to 'strut their stuff' in front of the class. I keep it atop the white board so it will always be available. It's an inexpensive, but unique way of keeping students engaged

Learning Resources Hand Pointers, Set of 3 Opinions
Great teaching tool . I teach kindergarten and use this as my pointer when doing calendar and weather. The children love this toy and want to play with it constantly. The length and weight are great; it is very light and has a good grip. I would recommend this for any teacher. Many teachers have a hard time finding durable pointers and this is the solution!

Great reading tool . These work well for teaching my four-year-old how to read. Keep in mind that they are very long (about 15 inches), so they are not ideal for pointing to letters in books with small print.

My preschoolers love these! . I ordered a set of these pointers for use with our interactive whiteboard (an Eno board with a stylus, not a touch-screen SmartBoard). When we have children as "Song Leaders", and they need to point to words as we sing, or when I am teaching calendar, pointers are easier for kids to manage, longer in extension than the stylus (which means my body less in the way), and they're FUN for them. Since it's not a touch screen for fingers, the pointer doesn't activate any movement the way the actual stylus would, which is perfect :) They seem durable, even with threes and fours.

Perfect for playing school (or sword fighting) . We got these for our girls (ages 3 and 7) about six months ago. The two things that most surprised me about these pointers are:

1) The kids still love playing with these things. It seems they never tire of playing school and the pointers are always at the center of the action. When the friends come over to play, it seems they also gravitate to playing with these pointers.

2) None of them are broken. Naturally they should not break from playing school but the other thing they like to do with them is play three musketeers (thankfully there are three). That means sword play, smacking each other, and all other sorts of good fun. I mean, my girls really beat the heck out of these things and they are still solid as the day we got them.

These things are great!

Cons Review

pointer . I started to order these and found out you can get them for a dollar a piece at the dollar store. I think it's kind of a rip off for what they are.

Excellent for motivating emergent readers. . It is a very fun way to help emergent readers follow along what you are reading to them. Also, the rule for using the pointers is that they can only use it to read; and you can belive me when I say that they love using the pointer and at the same time you make reading fun for them.

My Kinder students LOVE these! . These are high quality and a great tool for the classroom. We use them on a daily basis and my students absolutely love them. They are just the right length for students to easily maneuver and use to track print on the walls around the class. They are not the cheap imitation pointers that you sometimes see, they will easily last for many school years to come. I will definitely be buying more of these, and will be recommending to teacher friends.

Very satisfied . My daughter is in kindergarten and her teacher uses these pointers. These were my daughters #1 request for her birthday. There is nothing special about their construction, but they seem to be able to hold up to child's play. Although they have no educational value themselves, they encourage kids to pretend they are teaching. My daughter loves these pointers, and I enjoy sitting through her lessons on letters and numbers.

Fun educational . This game is a very simple, straightforward game that is a little boring with just two people. It is best played with four or more. Not very difficult at all, the most exciting part is doing the excercises. You just keep spinning the spinner card and pick a food card of the same color of the color you spun. Then you either do the excercise or pick a food card of the same color. It is a little educational, but would be more effective if you had to get points for a food group, like more points for a healthy food group and less points for picking, say, candy or cake in the oils food group. All in all, I guess it's okay. I expected more of a learning component to be honest.

Cons Review

A Teacher's View . I purchased this set to use in my fourth grade classroom. Simple machines are much easier to understand if students are able to experience them. This set allows that experience to a degree, but it just does not hold up to repeated use. Additionally, a few of the simple machines do not illustrate the concept as well as they could. Save your money and look for a different product.

Learn building skills . Kids love putting together the 5 simple machines. They see examples of them everywhere in daily life, and have gained curiosity for the mechanics of how things work. Ties into all sorts of thematic learning, like laws of physics, or how they built the ancient pyramids. Fun bonding for kids and parents, creates a thirst for learning. Enjoy!

Pretty much a classroom necessity . I purchased this for my 1st grade classroom because I pretty much spent last year wishing for one. I have this on my calendar to keep track of days and teach place value. This is brightly colored (and matches the colors of my room, conveniently and nicely enough) and the letters and numbers are easy-to-read. My favorite feature is the storage pouch--very handy, no straws and numbers lost.

Excellent Learning Chart . I will be using this place value chart in my homeschool preschool this fall. Great Product . This is a very good product. The material that it is made out of is vinyl and plastic, and seems to be well sewn to last. The numbers are just printed on card stock. And the straws are just like those little straws you use to stir your coffee with. This is a product that someone can easily create at home if you wanted to. But i wanted to purchase this for homeschooling purposes...whenever i can buy real teaching materials without having to make my own stuff, i like to.
