"Smartmap" not such a smart idea . This would be an awesome toy if the "smartmap" were more durable. My son's got ripped and wrinkled pretty quickly. Also, one of our animals never scanned, so if I understand my son right, he can't unlock some of the quizzes and sounds.
Otherwise, it is perfect for a child who loves learning about animals. My son has had hours of educational enjoyment using this toy.

Love this! . I love the educational value of this toy. The scanner tells information about each animal and more animals on the map. Even with out the scanner the animals are well made and fun to play with on their own. The scanner is really durable. We have had ours about a year, dropped it many times, and haven't had to change the batteries! My son got this for his 3rd birthday and he still plays with it. He got more animals for Christmas yesterday. The map is great BUT you should find a way to get it laminated so it will last. I laminated mine at school and then posted it low on my son's wall. (Find a teacher to laminate for you!)
