not just for kids . My husband is a huge math nerd, and I got him this abacus to mess around with for his birthday. It came with a nice, clear set of instructions on how to do basic mathematical operations using the abacus, and he was able to extrapolate to much more complex operations. Catproof.

Great simple starter abacus . We are using this abacus to supplement my first grader's math skills. Its been working really well so far as she likes the tactile feel of using it to add and subtract. Its a great kids abacus, although I am learning along with my child as I never used one growing up. My 2yo also likes to get in on the fun. RightStart Math required an abacus which started this journey and its really been more rewarding than I expected.

Flimsy . This abacus is flimsy and each time my kids or I touch it, I fully expect the thing to break. I've used the abacus with my older child for homeschooling and teaching basic numeracy; however, it's cheaply made and I would prefer larger beaded abacus to use with my younger child. If I could go back in time, I would purchase a wooden Slavonic abacus.

fun way to learn math . I bought it for my 4 year old; she already learned how to use it. I like this abacus better than the multicolored ones, it may be easier for decimal system problems.
Desktop Abacus . This product has exceeded my expectations of what I needed it to do. My son is now interested in math, and the colored beads in the denominations of 5 have been very helpful in our current math program. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a visual aid for mathematics.
Abacus . Really working well for my 5 yr old granddaughter for addition & subtraction - makes it more concrete & easier to understand concept of 10.
Perfectly fine starter abacus . I purchased this for my kinder/1st grade daughter. It is quite thin plastic and seems flimsy on first inspection, but it has held up fine to daily use. It is perfect for teaching regrouping and my daughter can now do significantly more difficult problems with it. She absolutely loves it and chooses to do all her math work, no matter how simple, with it. I think it will last plenty long enough to serve its purpose.
Flimsy is the word . Bought this for my son but am returning it without opening the clear plastic wrapper. It's very flimsy and will look for one with wood beads and better construction. I did like that 5 are one color, 5 are the other on this one vs 10 of the same color across the row but once I saw it in person I vote thumbs down.
Good but flimsy . I wish I would have paid a bit more for a better one, as this one is a bit cheaply made. It has held up, but I only let my kids use it for school time. I would like to let them use it for playing on their own too, but it seems like it will break.
Cons Review
It's Not A Toy . I hate having to label this a toy. It is not a toy it is an educational item. I bought 2 of these for my kids and they have used them often to work on improving their math skills. I recommend it for anyone out there that wants to help their child out when they are learning their math skills.Add On!!!
