Nice learning aid for my first grader . These prepared slides are of very good quality and good enough that my first grader kid was able to handle the slides by herself. Each slide is nicely labeled and is color coded. You do need to treat slides with care as these slides are made of glass. My kid was very pleased with the details she could see at high magnification. Very satisfied with the purchase overall.

Very well done . good quality slides. We have 2 sets of these. They're well mounted and clearly labeled.

Kids love it! . I bought this, along with a microscope, for my granddaughter. She has enjoyed these a lot. I would buy again.

Learning Resources Prepared Slides, Set I Reviews
OK for a beginner . Over the years for highschool and college of buying and preparing my own slides, these are diffentaly for beginners. I got this set for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas. Over all the slides are poorly preserved. The best ones ae for plants and insects. Again ok for beginner don't bother if you have any experience at all in studing with a microscope.

Nothing I couldn't have gotten myself. . I expected something a tad more exotic to look at, but virtually everything on the slides is fairly common--fibers and plants and scales and so forth--so while it's convenient to have even such humdrum subjects available in prepared form, there's not a huge value to looking at them. Not that every slide needed to include unicorn horn velvet and mermaid slime, but a few things that an average person would have a little trouble rounding up would have immeasurably improved the value.

My Nephew's New Favorite Pasttime! . My 8-year old nephew received the binoculars for a Christmas gift this past winter (2007) and has thoroughly enjoyed the item and its diverse uses for play, school, and creative exploration of nature. His dad (my brother) reports he has never seen such a good quality set of binoculars that a child can use so readily and without supervision because of the ruggedness and reliability of the product. Highly recommend this item!

Celestron Upclose 16x32 Reviews
Nice Budget 16x Bino's . Surprisingly good 16x power reasonably compact binos at a low price. About 1/3 longer when folded than the usual 10 by 25 binos, but a great deal closer and brighter. Mine arrived in black but with orange logos and an orange center focus dial that do not appear in the (outdated?) all-black photo of the item. I'm pleased with their performance as car glovebox, boating and cruise-ship glasses. I'm not a backyard birder but I imagine they would work well for any more or less stationery object. These don't pretend to compete with $300 binoculars so no use making comparisons. But for their budget price these are a pretty solid choice and I certainly am getting my money's worth.

Celestron Upclose 16x32 Opinions
Very good binoculars for its price . Its is a very good binoculars at this price. However, please don't compare with high end and costly ones. I purchased it around a month back for my nephew and tested it myself first when i travelled to Niagara falls. I was overall happy with its performance. I was able to focus distant objects to a reasonable clarity. Using it from the window of aeroplane was also fun. It is light weight and reasonably small.

For seeing distant objects, it will lost some of clarity and details. However, you can not expect more than that from this binoculars. Rigth eye has cylinderical adjustment and helps in focusing the object. I wish that it was having this adjustment in left also. Most of the times, i was using it with only one eye because using the binoculars with both eyes was blurring the images to some extent.

I would recomment it for users who just want to chill out with a very good binoculars in this price band and don't have any serious passion for binoculars.

Personally, i would be spending more money to get something exceptionally good ;)

Cons Review

Keep looking . Real short here. I had associated the name 'Celestron' with telescopes and therefore astronomy in general and assumed that the company made high quality products.
If these binoculars were the cheapest available I would recommend them for those looking to spend the least amount of money, however they aren't, for example The Bushnell Power-view Bushnell Powerview 12x25 is a few dollars cheaper and in my experience better. In my use of the products it seemed that the Bushnell had better focus than the Celestron and were also more compact. It doesn't get much simpler than that, one has more clarity at a distance and is more practical to carry, one isn't.

Ring doesn't stay closed cards fall all over airplane floor :( . I bought these thinking they'd be a good portable book/flashcard replacement, however the plastic ring doesn't stay closed, and my son easily and repeatedly pulls the cards so the ring comes off and the whole pile of cards goes everywhere. The first time I discovered this was on an airplane. Not really that fun.

One of the Best Handy Dandy Notebooks available . I understand the negative review. The erasable crayon leaves something to be desired. You will likely see shreds of it somewhere, though it is not hard to clean up really. My number one complaint about the crayon and product in general is how hard it is to write with it. You have to press down very hard to see any sort of satisfying line, and even then it is not a clean line. For a two year old girl, this is particularly hard.

As a side note, there is no reason to clean these with a sponge or anything wet. A dry paper towel did the trick for me, generally without any hassles.

Yet, I give it 5 stars. Why? Because it is still the best BC notebook out there (except for the other two or three that are the same only in different styles). What I really like about this notebook is how durable it is (don't use water to wash it). The front and back are extra sturdy plastic and the spiral ring is big enough to fit a variety of crayons and dry erase markers.

That durability means I can do something else cool with this notebook. Without too much trouble, I cam make my own pages, punch them and thread them through the spirals. This possibility opens up all kinds of options and is why I really love this thing. That, and my daughters eyes lit up when she saw it.

Great for little ones who love Blues Clues . My toddler loves Blues Clues, so I knew she had to have a handy dandy notebook of her own. I was a little surprised at how much it was - was quite a bit more than I wanted to spend. But I bought it anyway and she absolutely loves it. Whenever it's on TV, she runs and gets her notebook and feels like she's part of the show. I also like how the pages just wipe off so we can use them over and over again. Is a cute toy & my daughter loves it, however, it is rather expensive which is a bummer.

Great Surprise for my little one. . When my son was into Blues' Clues this was the best thing he could have received. Would not put down for a minute. Downside of the toy is that the spirals come out
easily, the crayon gets lost, and the pages can be hard to clean (they do not wipe down easily). I paid much less than it's being advertised for. Would pay the 49.99
to see his face but not for the value. Not worth 49.99 but if you have a big time Blue's Clues fan he would love it. Shipped pretty quickly, felt a little slighted over the price but I understood I paid for a toy that was not going to last long.

Handy Dandy Notebook . I got this notebook for my daughter for her 2nd birthday. She loved it!!! Even though the spiral at the top does unwind a bit, it is very easy to put back together. She is able to write the clues on it, and when she is done we just wipe them off. In regards to the crayon, you can buy dry erase crayons at local stores.

Must have for the Blues Clues Lovers . My Grandson learns a lot from the Blues Clues shows - this is one of his favorite toys - the handy dandy notebook - he pretends for hours to be Joe or Steve. My Grandson started watching when he turned 2 and still watching after turning 3 in February 2010

Just like Steve's! . My 2yr old just got into Blue's Clues and was already starting to pretend she had a Handy Dandy Notebook. When I saw this one and compared it made sense to get one which could be used over and over (hence the higher price). I balked a the price too but it does stand up to wear and tear for a small toy and it really resembles Steve's. The crayon broke the 2nd day but again so are all the crayons we have; it is a 2yr old handling it afterall. The spiral part comes undone so it just needs to be respun into the grooves. Overall its a good product your child can enjoy over and over. Only difficult part is actually drawing the clues like Steve!

It is the best bug jar ever. :) . I bought 4 of these jars for my bug center outside..... They are used on a daily basis with the children in my child care... They are very sturdy, and the handles are nice for the kids to carry around and show off the bugs they have caught!

Not best ever bug jar . The jar has a nice see through area - but the lid is difficult for little hands to get on and off - and the handle has to be turned down in order to do it. (Handle popped off the first time we did it - you would have to keep putting it back on.) I have the other one with a little door on the end that is easy to slide open. Other downside - the jar is slippery so bugs don't crawl around in it like they do on the screen bug house. No - not the best ever bug jar. And with three grandsons - I should know.

Just a plastic jar - needs magnifier . I purchased this bug jar with a bug vaccuum for my son. I serves its purpose and contains bugs and has a breathable lid. But, it's just a simple plastic jar. I wish it had some type of magnifying lens so he could see the bugs up close. It also comes with a plastic praying mantis bug in it. My son thought that was cool and thought the bugs he caught would be scared by it.

Best Ever Bug Jar Review . I was disappointed with this bug jar from the beginning. The green handle comes off quite easily and often. It goes back on but will not stay due to it being cheaply made. If the handle stayed on all the time, my kids and I would love it.

We had a blast with the Itty-Bitty Pizzeria . My girls received the Itty Bitty Pizzeria kit as a gift. First I thought, "Thanks for all the extra work. You want to come and play!" Well I couldn't have been more mistaken. See, I love to make pizza. I'm from Italy! So one day while I was making pizza the girls asked if they could use their kit. I gave them some dough. They rolled it out with the roller, they cut the dough perfectly round with the circle cutter, they put it in the pans, then they put the toppings on (tiny little pepperoni cut with the pepperoni punch, too cute!) and off to the oven. They even got to put it the delivery boxes. Guess how many tips they made that night! We had a blast and I must say the quality of the product is excellent. I see they make the Itty Bitty Cupcake Kit. Can't wait to try that and other Smart Lab products! It is great to see products where kids can be actively involved without staring at a video.
