Love the Colors . I bought this because I had another book by Soft Play and I'm obsessed with the colors and design of the Fisher Price Precious Planet line. My baby is two months old and she gets excited when I read this book to her. The colors are bright and beautiful and the story/poem is very cute. There is an oddly placed rattle; I can't figure out why it's on a page about penguins and fish, but she likes it. There are some crinkle pieces to lift as well. She smiles when I read it to her, so I would say this was a great purchase!

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! . My 6 month old loves this!!!! We've had this since she was about 5 months old and she has loved it since the first time I read it to her. The colors are VERY vivid and vibrant and she has never lost interest. There are 5 different items that are textured or crinkle. It's even gotten to the point where when we sit down to read it, she starts getting excited; legs kicking, high pitched shrieks and babbling...bottom line, she adores this book and I would TOTALLY purchase it again!!!!!

Perfect first book for my Infant . This book is perfect for my infant. We wanted to start out with our child loving books and this was the perfect start. This book is very soft, the pages are cloth and not paper based. There is no possibility of getting poked by a hard surface. Each page is colourful full of bright colors (mostly greens, blues and yellows) and catches our babies attention each time. The pages are composed of the following:Page 1: 1 lion, 2 elephants and the lions tail extrudes with a cloth fuzzy tail
Page 2: 3 giraffes with a kinkly leaf covering the giraffes, 4 rhinos

Fun but loud. . This is a fun toy for my 2 yr old. It sings silly counting songs and he likes that it pulls out and retracts. My only complaint other than how annoying it gets to hear the songs for the 5 millionth time is that you have to hear them at an extremely loud volume. Lots of electronic baby/toddler toys are way too loud. If you put some electrical tape over the speaker, then it's less punishing for the parents and safer for your child's hearing. I wouldn't say it's the coolest counting toy ever, but my son loves the songs it plays.

I bought this item for my nephew for Christmas. He loved it at first glance. The lights, music and the fact that he could pull the tape measure and see the numbers. The only negative that I have is that the tape only goes to the number "8," while the song on the unit counts to the number 10. That was very disappointing from a teaching perspective.

Good if your little guy destroys real tape measurers . Myt son is almost three, and he had an obsession with stretching out the tape measurer across things. He would get really upset if anyone moved it. He broke it of course! But, to prevent more tape measurers getting destroyed (he always gets me to give him this stuff, he is SO cute!), I got him this. It worked: He stretched it out and tried to hang it over something, like before! Only thing is this is not very long, which makes it safer for a child of course, no strangulation hazard. So it is safe, and fun enough. Its burried right now though in other toys. If I pull it out, he will use it though I am sure. It is loud though, get ready! All these toys are. Its nice for him thogh,.

Cute!! . We are saving this toy for our son for this coming Christmas. We got it because he will also be getting a tool kit for Christmas that is not coming with a tape measure. This will accompany it perfectly. We were pleasently surprised when it arrived and was a little bigger than we were expecting. The volume seems to be good...not too loud or soft. As another reviwer noted, the tape goes up to 10 but then song only counts to 8. Not too big of a deal though. I'm sure my one year old will get hours of enjoyment from it.

Tape doesn't go to ten . This is an OK toy, but there is no volume control and it is very loud. The song counts to ten, but the tape measure pulls out only to reveal 8 inches. How dumb is that? The didn't allow enough slack to all 10 inches to come out and be visible.

Fun- has yet to break . My son adores tape measures and broke multiple by pulling them out too far, this toy is slightly less appealing than a grown up measure but doesn't break. It is only 8 inches long and the songs are almost identical to the v tech toolbox which can be annoying but is a good toy.

Just ok . I bought this for an early birthday present for my 11 month old grandson and it is "ok". I am considering sending it back as I am not really impressed with the fact the tape only goes out to 8 when the song goes to 10. The other features are ok,lights and sound. At a recent trip to Walmart I spotted the toy and handed it to my grandson thinking I might be missing on the "fun" element of the toy. He played with it for about two minutes in the store and then dropped it in favor my keys. So back it goes.

Surprisingly Durable! . Received these as a gift and at first I was skeptical. I grew up with wooden alphabet blocks and was pretty set that my kids would too. The whole box is really light and I thought it was empty. I opened the crafty magnetic flap and there staring at me was a full box! So the kid and I dumped them out and commenced playtime. I really thought this was some sort of disposable toy. The boxes are cardboard! But here's the kicker, now days the wood blocks are smaller and not very colorful. My daughter immediately went for the bigger, brighter and lighter cardboard alphabet boxes. We made a castle, I tried to show her the animals, we spelled her name. So now that other part that you're waiting for in comparison to the wooden blocks I loved... When the child throws them, they don't break other things! Not that my perfect darling child has done this on more than two occasions, but I'd rather have her throw the cardboard boxes any day.

After a week, we retired the wooden blocks to a decorative only state, stacked with her name showing, never to be played with again.

The cardboard blocks remain in the primary toy/book basket in the living room. We've had these blocks over a year now and they are still like new! I have no clue how, as they have been played with nearly every day for a year. I bet if you stomped on them like an aluminum can, they would crush. The large box that they come with may be key. The large magnetic flap ensures a neat package once put away. And since the box is made just for this, you know exactly how many lost blocks are somewhere under couches, TV stands or tables.

Durable, colorful, light, convenient and I guess educational as well. Sometimes the simple toys are the ones that get all the use. Will continue to use this next year to move from teaching animals to letters.

Not Inpressed at all! . I bought these blocks for my 19 month old son for Christmas, however I never gave them to him. The are paper and hollow. They are not durable at all! They are very colorful and cute, that is why I bought them. My son likes to chew on his other blocks, so I know that it would only take about 3 mins to have anyone of these blocks ruined! I don't recommend them for smaller children that like to chew on their toys or who are rough on their toys (stepping on them, chewing on them, throwing them, etc.

Handset cord way too short . My 19 month old daughter is obsessed with telephones so her grandmother got her this as a Christmas gift. It's super cute but the handset cord is way too short for her to use as intended. When she picks the handset up the entire phone unit comes right along which defeats the purpose of the toy.

Why is the cord three inches long? . I am disappointed in this toy. The handset cord is way too short. Not the most entertaining toy my son has either.

Perfect for 12-month-old . My son is 12 months, and he got this for Christmas. He loves it, and it entertains him for quite a while. My 3-year-old daughter actually loves to steal it and play with it too!

Cons Review

one-year-old likes the music but you can find better toys for the money . My child received this toy as gift. As other reviewers pointed out, the phone cord is too short, which most of us assume is due to strangulation concerns. (So why did they bother to put one?) One parent reviewer said she cut the cord which makes it more like a cordless house phone. I may do this, though we'll have to attempt to keep up with it, at least she can use it.
The pull-toy string has nothing on the end to keep it from fraying. Could they have tied off the end without putting small parts? I don't know. I tied a knot at the end to see if that helps. It seems strange to have a phone as a pull-toy, anyway, and it does nothing to motivate you pull it (no music, no flapping or moving parts like other pull toys.) I tried pulling it with my one-year-old, but it bored her quickly. She does like the plastic flip cards at the top, which sing when you change them, and she likes pushing the buttons. I would not recommend this toy as a pull toy or toy phone. You can find much better ones for your money.

Cute...But Cord is too Short . My 12 Month old received this as a Christmas gift and was very excited to use it. The problem is that everytime he tried to put the handset to his ear, the whole phone had to come along with it....the cord is too short.

I understand that longer cords can be choking hazards, yet it has a VERY long cord that is attached to the front to be used to pull the phone along the floor. My child has never attempted to pull that cord (yet) and doesn't even pay attention to it. He wants to pick up the handset and put it to his ear.

So.....I cut the cord off the handset so it's free standing now and he loves it. Just have to watch to make sure it doesn't get lost. :)

Where's the zero? . I wanted to use this phone to teach my 3 yr old our phone number but there is no zero on it which is frustrating. Also, the cord is ridiculously short. I cut it because she would try to talk on it and the phone part would be hanging and swinging around. It's a cute idea, poor execution. I like Fisher Price normally but this was a disappointment.

Cord too short! . While it catches the attention of all three of my children (1,3,4) the cord from the phone to the headset piece is way too short and it frustrates them more than anything. It is cute and fun like all Laugh & learn, and they do play with it often but overall it could be a lot better.

Weird Annoying Crunch Sound . The toy is ok and my kid likes it but when you turn the pages there is this weird unnecessary crunch sound. The phone cord is way too short and you have to pick the whole toy up to put it to your ear or your child's ear.

Great Blocks . The blocks are very sweet and colorful. I love that they include upper and lowercase letters. The pictures are great and the blocks are durable. I also love that the package is sturdy and magnetic. Great buy.

Super Cute & Durable . Despite their cuteness, I hesitated ordering these blocks because they are made out of paper board. I have 16 month old twins that still love to chew on everything while teething. After reading the reviews, I caved and purchased them. My babies LOVE them and they are very durable! They are a nice size so that the twins can grasp them and stack them on top of one another. Yes, there are a few teeth marks on a couple of the blocks, but nothing more than a couple of teeth indentions. The pictures are still vibrant and after 4 months of use, they are still a favorite for the kiddos.

One of my son's favorite toys! . My son got these blocks as a gift for his 1st birthday and almost 2 years later he still plays with them almost every day. I thought when I first saw them that they wouldn't last very long since the blocks are made of paper; however I've been amazed at how sturdy they are. After all this time they still look brand new! In fact they're in better shape than the plastic blocks my son got around the same time.

When he was younger my son loved playing with these blocks to learn the names of the animals, then later the blocks were great in helping him learn colors, the alphabet, and now numbers/counting as he stacks the blocks...so the usefulness of this toy just continues to grow right along with him. These blocks are really durable and are of great quality -- highly recommended.

Enriching Toy for Toddlers & Preschoolers! . I gave a set of these colorful blocks to a my friend's 18-month old, and she immediately began to manipulate them and stack them. Great Travel Toy . I purchased this toy for my 15 month old (now 2) and she loved it. My main objective for this toy was to help keep her busy in the car or on a plane and it served it's purpose well. The reason I chose this buckle toy over others I had seen was because of the clasp variety. I wanted my daughter to have multiple types of buckles and others I saw were the same clasp in different colors and sizes at best. The previous reviewer is right, the toy is not the size of a pillow but more the size of an average adult hand. I am not sure why you would want it to be any bigger. If it were the size of even a standard toddler pillow it would be awkward or cumbersome for a toddler to hold and buckle at the same time. I think a larger size buckle toy is more appropriate for a baby that does most of it's exploring and playing while lying on its stomach. The price also seemed a little high to me when I purchased it but after seeing all my child has put it through added to the fact that it is still in perfect condition has actually led me to purchase it as gifts for friends toddlers without thinking twice about the price. At the start of this review I mentioned that she loved it past tense. We still throw the buckle toy in the mix of travel toys and she is happy to see it but after about 3 months of use my daughter had mastered it and it now only holds her attention for about 30 seconds. This short time frame may seem discouraging to some but 3 months is the longest (besides stickers) any travel toy has held my daughter's attention so I consider it a success. With 30+ flights under her belt and many road trips this toy has also probably been forced on my child more then most which I am sure has a lot to do with it's entertainment lifespan in our family. I do have friends who's children have a longer attention spam with it after a longer time frame.

My opinion-Buckles are a little small. . Much smaller than I expected, just looked again at description and I don't see measurements. I thought it was the size of a pillow, but it fits in your hand.
My just-turned-2 year old really likes it. For the price, I would not have bought it in a store. No way.
