Kids love it . This bug doesn't do much. It vibrates in the direct sunlight and stays still, just looking like a roach, out of sun. Kids love it, though. It is a great example to introduce a concept of solar power. Not much more than that, but better than regular plastic bugs.

Doesn't actually crawl any where... . All it does is vibrate in sunlight. Legs don't actually move, it barely moves just shakes. Interesting product for $3 not much fun. I probably wouldn't buy again. Sorry.

Simple cheap fun . When placed in bright sunlight, this cockroach vibrates around on the ground. That's all. Really. It only costs a few bucks, and it's good for a minute or two of fun every now and then, especially if your kids can find someone who is very afraid of bugs. Note that it really does need bright, direct sunlight to work.

Dead roach . Got this for a stocking stuffer awhile back. It did not do anything at all. Nothing. I put it in direct sunlight and it did nothing but sit there perfectly still. Laughing at me. Mocking me. Well I was so angry at that point I just smashed it to bits beneath my boot. Maybe I got a dud who knows but it was too cheap to hassle with returning it. So I destroyed it.

Cons Review

Bug . This was a gift for a grandchild, so I do not really have a review of the product. The purchase experience made Christmas much less nerve racking.

" Solar Buddy" . This amazing little creature is very life-like. Not to have around those who do not like bugs. It was a present for my little 7 year old grandson. He was sooo happy!

Does nothing but vibrate a little bit . This is cleaner than a real cockroach but that's about all.
It doesn't move even in the brightest of sunlight. It just
sits there and vibrates a little bit. You have to touch it
even to tell that it's vibrating.
Extremely boring but it put me over the top of the $25 free
shipping so at least I got something out of it.

Way fun little car! . This is from my 6 year old son:
"Car is really cool but the rubber around the wheels comes off easily and stops it from working. That's not a big problem because if it comes off it's easy to put back on. I really like the car. Also it needs the sun to run. A flashlight isn't bright enough to make it go."

Size of a Dime! . Well , when I just got it , I laughed , it's too small "size of a dime or so" , the only con is that it requires real direct SUN light to work, any other light won't do , the torque isn't suffecient to drive it over the smallest slope , but it's a nice educational TINY toy , that illustrates green energy concept.

Fun novelty . We ordered two of these, and one seems to move a little more smoothly than the other, not sure why. You need a VERY strong flashlight to get these moving. But if you have a flashlight with a very strong bulb they move well on flat surfaces. The rubber on the tires can get wonky but so far we've been able to pop it back on easily. They are teeny tiny, smaller than a postage stamp. They are a fun little novelty.

It works only with naturl lightsource . It does not work under artificial lightsources. To make its wheels move in this condition the solar panel must be non longer than 1iinch from the source. However, under bright sunshine, it works as expected. Take it into consideration before you buy it.

Solar Car . Great car but relatively fragile. The solar panels can crack if not properly handled. Otherwise, extremely great car, in both educational value and price. Was also fun to see it work.

Didn't work! . We placed our car in the sun for quite some time with no results. Quite a disappointment for the kids.

great novelty toy . Contrary to another review... My led flashlight makes this toy go fine. Yes it will be toast if you sit on it or step on it but its inexpensive. Great way to teach kids about the power of the sun. Now if I could only string a couple thousand of these to the top of my car....

Wire's broke . The wires are not he best quality. My son only had it in his possession for about 5 minutes and it was over. The idea sounds better than what it is.

Wicked fast and tiny . I got this car for my husband for Christmas. It shot across the driveway so fast. He got a kick out of stopping it by making a shadow over it. Really tickled him (and me). Love it!

It needs really bright sun. . I got this on sale for under four bucks. This toy is like the silicone vibrating bugs that were very popular, except it doesn't need batteries. It is a nice way to show the younger kids the concept of power coming from light and sun.

The main problem with this bug is that it need really bright sun before it can start moving around. On a mild cloudy day it will vibrate just a little bit. But indoor, it cannot move even if you shine it direct with a strong flashlight.

The head detaches very easily and you may want to put superglue on it. The legs are made of steel not the silicone legs popular with the other bugs.

We were looking and searching for the switch since we couldn't make it move when we first unpack it. I thought we received a DOA bug, but what it needs is a really bright sun.-

Loving This Bug! . We love this cute little guy. There is little to "assemble." He is great to watch - in the sun or the glow of a 100W light bulb he dances. Also, he is good to learn from - if he dances out of the light he stops cold, no stored up energy. It brings giggles and enjoyment for all ages. This is the second time I bought the solar grasshopper. First for one of my kids for a birthday. Now, most of the cousins are getting one for Christmas.

So cute my cats love it! . I bought one of these cute little frightened grasshoppers through an Amazon Marketplace merchant for only ONE CENT, plus the $4.95 to ship it, so it cost me less than $5, and I thought my cats would get a big kick out of it. Which they did. They were of course, freaked out a little by it at first, batting at it with their paws, but making my LOL my butt off!

My mom, who is 61, got a kick out of it; her neighbor, also her age, thought it was pretty darn cool. Now, my husband has taken it to work with him, and all of the guys want to buy one for their grandkids, or kids, and they all think it is just the neatest thing that it is solar powered.

Yes, it goes jiggle and wiggle and vibrates all over the place. On a flat surface, this little grasshopper can make quite a track all over the place. Yes, he does need direct sunlight, but I've had mine for months now, and he's still jigglin' and wigglin'. I'm going to buy one as a fun birthday gift for my friend, just because it is such a novel little toy.

But it through an amazon merchant, there are a couple who are selling it for only ONE CENT, plus the S&H. You can't beat a stocking stuffer like this little guy.

Junk - don't waste your money . Utter crap - Bought two of these for the kids (6 & 8) for xmas. Neither worked out of the box. One had a short across the solar panel. Even when fixed, it only worked at high noon. Nothing more than a cell phone vibrator motor and tiny solar panel. The other had the same flaw, but still didn't work after repair. Not worth the cost or trouble to bother returning...
