Celestron Advanced C6-SGT Telescope . This is my first telescope. It arrived in 3 well packed boxes. I did take the time to read the instruction manual first and I recommend you do the same.

Assembly and set up was easy. There are many ways to align this telescope. I chose quick align so I could start playing with the controller. Don't worry about messing something up just get familiar with it.

I then used the utility "factory settings" to reset everything back to the way it was out of the box. I then chose the alignment procedure and all the options I wanted to use and set them up correctly this time.

The telescope tracks beautifully and the view is stunning. You will be very pleased with this telescope.

The equatorial mount , which contains all the functionality, comes with an extra dovetail mounting plate. So you can mount another telescope you may have instead of this one and turn it into a computerized unit if you desire.

I am setting my telescope up in a corner of a store room at my home that i have converted into a roll off roof observatory.

The whole thing breaks down into a tripod, equatorial mount, and telescope for transporting if you desire to make it portable.

Very Nice Telescope . I initially started with the Celestron 6SE, which was also a great telescope, but soon thereafter discovered how addictive astrophotography was. With the 6SE being an Alt-Azi mount, I was unable to attempt any type of long exposure astrophotography. When I upgraded to the C6-S Advanced, all of that changed. This telescope and mount is amazing. After the easy alignment and calibration, it finds and tracks objects in the sky like a blood hound on steroids!!!! The optics are crystal clear, and the go to equatorial mount is just great (a little loud when slewing) but great. This package also comes with an extra dovetail mount in case you want to strap another telescope to it. After a little fine tuning, this mount performs miracles. Overall this is a fantastic piece of equipment. My only suggestion is for Celestron to include an AC adapter instead of only a DC car adapter. Many of us would like to get to know the telescope in our backyards before we pack it up and take it in the car. Other than that minor issue, and hopes for more included accessories, Great Job Celestron. I am and will continue to be a loyal customer.

Sturdy cute insect net . I purchased two of these nets, one each for my 3.5-year-old and 1.5-year-old, and they love it! At just under 24" total length, it's long enough for the kids to reach up (fairly) high to catch insects, but not so long as to make it unwieldy, even for my 1.5-year-old. As with all Melissa and Doug products, it seems very well-made and sturdy and the cute, colorful design is an added bonus. Very pleased with purchase!

Butterfly's Seem Excited . My son purchased this product for his grandmother (using my money, computer, and shipping address...but it was his idea, at least) due to her recent installment of a butterfly garden. It shockingly arrived the day after I purchased it (very excited by that) in a package shockingly large for it.
However this looks like a very well-built product and I imagine that once the butterflies get a look at this bad-boy they'll be quivering in their little boots. Although I do imagine some will start a variation of a rebellion. Perhaps with blue face paint and kilts. Although I suppose a few will start some Occupy Rose Bush movement.
It's very colorful and my son is extremely excited to get to his grandmother for Festivus.

Great purchase . I had one bug net and after they caught "each other" 20 or so times, the net was destroyed. This one is actually sturdy and the handle is great. The other ones feel like a wire is going to poke out at any moment and stab someone.

great toy . My two boys were using plastic bags to catch bugs and after quite a few butterfly fatalities we decided to buy them a real butterfly net. These nets are durable and cute. The boys absolutely love them. They also use them in the summer to remove grass from their inflatable pool. We love them.

cute! . Very cute bug net! Durable. We use it in his baby pool to scoop up the lizards, works well for that too.

Fun Net . My 3 year old daughter was asking for a net and when we got this we were both happy with how it looks and how it can be handled easily.

Well I thought it might be fun... . It's adorable and I thought we might be able to catch bugs in it, but so far the only thing the kids want to put in the net are each other's heads. I would love to see my child running around catching butterflies in a field of flowers, but I think that is not realistic, at least not in the central US. Maybe it could be used at the beach to skim the water for little fish or shells, but the beach shops sell nets for that purpose for super cheap. So... I wish I hadn't spent money on this. Too bad.

Seems great but missing the month of December . My daughter used a similar calendar for a couple years, but pink is not my son's favorite color. So, we found him this, which looks great. Unfortunately, it arrived with two Fridays and no December. I can't figure out how to contact the seller to ask for a December tag, and Amazon says that the only way they can help is with a return and exchange.

It looks very nice, and I am sure my son will enjoy it once we get one with all the parts. I am not expecting any problems with Amazon and its return policies; I just wish there were a way to get a December rather than send the whole thing back.

Edit: We eventually returned it for a refund because it was the only option available. We decided to try again, and this time it came with all the right pieces. We are quite pleased with it.

A great learning tool fun for an at home preschooler! . My daughter does "the weather" at school and loves to sing the song they've taught her about the weather too. So when my schedule changed, I decided to look for something for home that we could do together, that would continue what she's been learning in the classroom. This is a really cute design, and perfect for learning the calendar, counting, season, etc. We have a lot of fun with it!

Missing part . It is colourful and attractive. The stitching was good and the pieces seem to hold onto the velcro sturdily.Unfortunately 'Tuesday" was missing so I had to send it back. I wish there is a way to ask for missing parts instead of returning the entire item.

Best Visible Horse

Fun and educational though assembly is required. . I think people might be misled by the previous reviewer's comments about the Visible Horse, which neglected to mention a few important facts: The box and instructions both clearly state that the paints and modeling cement are sold separately.

The reason the organs are "putty colored" is because they're unpainted. You are expected to paint them yourself, which is part of the fun (and the point) of putting a model kit together. I wouldn't buy a paint-by-numbers kit and then be disappointed that it didn't come already painted, for instance.

The reason the model didn't fit together is because you didn't use the modeling cement, which is necessary for this. Household glue simply won't work. Fortunately the cement is very cheap. (I got mine for about a buck at the nearest craft store.) I have found that with the modeling cement, the Visible Horse fits together very well and with no problems.

It's been a lot of fun painting the organs and assembling the skeleton. We had an interesting discussion about what color to paint the spleen, and we were both amazed at how huge a horse's heart is compared to his brain. This is exactly the sort of interactive and educational fun I was hoping the model would provide; it sure beats looking at an anatomy chart.

My only complaint with the Visible Horse is that the paint and the cement are sold separately (it would've been more convenient if they'd been included), and the instructions are bare bones: How to put the model together, and that's it. Information about the organs and skeleton and how they work would've been a nice touch.

Overall, though, I enjoyed this product and I recommend it.

Homeschooling Mama Likes This! . I bought this kit at a yard sale for a $1, and luckily when my daughter and I went to assemble it, all of the pieces were there! Apparently the previous owner hadn't read the directions - they had tried to put everything together using clear scotch tape and then gave up halfway through. It clearly says to use cement! I bought some at Walmart for $1.58 or some such nonsense.

So far my 11-year old and I have spent an hour on assembly - and we've gotten the legs, the skull and part of the rib cage glued down to the spine - we're taking it slow because we want to make sure the cement is really dry. Later on today we're going to do more. We're going to buy the paint to do the organs tomorrow.

It's been fun and educational so far. Neither of us have built a model, much less one that we've had to rip tape off of to correct some errors made my the previous owners, but we've enjoyed it.

Missing Parts . This is a fun project. My horse only came with half a heart (parts missing), so that was annoying.

Nightmare! . This "educational" toy is designed for 10 and up. That could be because only a 10 year old would not realize how poorly designed this thing is. It will require an IMMENSE amount of patience to complete. I have been helping my daughter with this toy for WAY TOO LONG. The pieces sort of snap together, but must all be glued. They then need to be positioned into the plastic body and somehow held with 10 hands that can contort into unexplainable positions to hold it all in alignment with the body and be glued at the same time. If it were not for the fact that my daughter REALLY wants this thing completed, I would have taken great joy in smashing it with a hammer. I would not recommend this to anyone who is not extremely patient and who has the room on a spare table to glue all the pieces together, then assemble.......oh yeah, and get a bunch of mini rubber bands to hold it all together while drying.

Perfect for any curiosity room! . At the time I bought this model I was in an equine reproduction course and thought it would be fun to immerse myself in all things equid (I'm pre-vet and a biology nerd). I enjoyed putting this model together. Sure, at times it was a pain to keep the pieces together long enough for the model glue to dry, but it allowed time for innovation as I found all sorts of common objects to use as vices.

Currently it sits on my dresser. I didn't completely finish it because I really only intended to complete the skeleton. Someday I may finish assembly and put the organs in, but not any day soon. I rather enjoy the way the skeleton looks in the transparent plastic "horse" case. If not an educational piece it sure acts as a conservation piece. If done with patience and done properly following the directions (having an outside image of the internal anatomy can help if the little number tags fall off)you can end up with an interesting trinket.

I call it "My Little Death Pony." My friends love it. Also, it is quite large in comparison to some of the other animal/human model kits I've seen. Now I really want the Visible Cow and a human model to complete the collection.

Invisible Horse . Extremely difficult to assemble!!! Parts do NOT snap together that are meant to, so there is no way to take it apart and reassemble as the instructions claim...

Visible Horse Model Review . 1. Helps to have an interest in horses
2. No reason to expect miracles, this is a "2" skill level kit so the quality of the part making is probably average
3. Most pieces fit well together and using the usual range of I-have-four-hands techniques, you'll create a model which resembles a horse both inside and outside
4. Always nice to use the thinnest glue possible and assemble in as many stages as necessary, needle-nosed glue dispenser (not included) was very useful
5. Probably a good product to assemble either before or after the visible man or woman - the comparison between parts is quite instructive
6. As an alternative to painting, I metal-leafed the organs; a small sense of decoration improves appearances
7. I gave the product 4 stars because I found it both interesting and instructive - as a model alone I would give it three stars for average quality and durability

Visible bones . I admit it, my husband built this one. You have to be a pretty experienced model builder to put it together. I use it to show my riding students what we are trying to work on within the horses body and we have had some great "aha" moments with it. Wonderful teaching tool, however fragile and takes some time to build.

Visible Horse . I will never assemble this model, because the smell of model cement is gruesome. But it makes a very good fine art supply, to learn how to draw skeletons, and looks fantastic as "dead horse bones" in a desert diorama.

Cons Review

Cool Product . I haven't had a chance to put it together yet. When I owned it when I was little it came already together. I am not good at putting models together, but when I do I know I will enjoy it very much.

Good Toad Catcher . I've had my Taffy Sea Turtle Net for several months now. I wasn't looking for a toy, which is why I didn't rate that aspect highly. I was looking for a good, strong net in which to catch the toads that occasionally find their way into my walled-in backyard. My concern is that one of my dogs might bite onto a Bufo Toad, and get poisoned. With this handy net, I can scoop up even a very large toad and deposit it in a nearby wooded area. I've had no problems with rips in the material, and it looks like a solidly built net and pole that should last me a long time. I certainly recommend it for toad catching!

Great kids first microscope . We purchased this microscope for our adopted Chinese 11y son, as his first microscope ... he wants one for Xmas.

We found the built in illumination good, the optics good, the prepared slides very good, and the instructions OK. Wish they had provided more experiments, slide making instructions, etc..

We found the camera mounting accessory rather weak, but we can use strong rubber bands to assist holding the digital camera we got to use with it.

The projection accessory seems good for such an inexpensive set. We tried it in a dark bath room.

We found that one must be careful when screwing in the eyepiece lens, so one does not mess up the threads.

All in all ... we think, for the PRICE, that this will be a great first starting science learning toy/science tool for a child at age 11. Remembering back to the 1960s when we had them as kids, this is much better than what we had.

We also like that everything fits into the case and can be safely and nicely put away in a boys room, without being scattered all over the place, or in shoe boxes.

98 Piece Microscope . We just got this microscope for my son's 10th birthday. We finally got to view a slide provided but the image was not good at all. The eyepiece is too small. The lenses seem to be out of line with the viewing hole in the platform. The projector did not work at all. The filter wheel does not turn. My son did not have a happy birthday with this item and this is what he wanted most. We will return it.

Good for starters but dont expect too much. . I bought this item after reading a little reviews about it, but it was just like was reviewed. It is good to get young children excited about learning about a "micro-world". But you can also quickly loose their attention if it doesn't work really well. The lens is not very clear to make out what you are looking at. You have to keep the specimen very close and still under the scope to make out anything. Not good for kids with little patience

My Grand Daughter loves this . My Grand Daughter is 8 years old, this is the perfect gift for the budding little Scientist in your family. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the case is a little hard to close. You have to really think thru the process of closing to make it work without spilling it's gutts.

Great for 7 year old . My 7 year old and her friends love this. It has great magnification, one lens tends to work much better than the other, so we mainly use that one, but it works great. We get to see many things up super close and in great detail. My only con is that the instruction book is a little lacking in instructions on how to use specific parts that it was a little confusing at first. I would use this for 6 (with help w/adult) to 10 year olds

Excellent Buy . I bought this for a Christmas gift for my 14 year old grandson and he loves it! It has helped him develop an interest in science that he never had before!

Cons Review

Microscope . This is definitely a toy. If you or your child are really interested in learning how to use a microscope and how to make slides. You may want to spend a little more money and get a quality microscope.

Good value for the price . My 6 year old son loves the microscope. The eyepiece screws in funny sometimes, and is plastic... but other than that, it's a lot of fun and seem s to work pretty well.

Good for just starting out . The microscope itself is nice and sturdy. The projector does not work very well but if you use the right eyepiece you can view things pretty well. There is a problem lining things up but once you get that down it is ok.
The big thing that disappointed me was the slides. They are plastic and scratched. I was expecting real slides and some specimens to dissect like the one I had when I was a kid. We will just need to catch things to dissect ourselves and then buy some better, real slides. It is a good starter microscope. I had high expectations because of the one I had as a kid but all in all it isn't all that bad. Just buy better slides.

Do NOT Buy!!! . I bought this microscope for my 8 year old on his birthday. He was really excited about using it, but when we got it open and started to play with it, we quickly realized that the light did not work. Needless to say, without the light the microscope is completely useless.
