Great Robot Kit! . This robot kit was perfect for my 6th grade daughter. She thought it was very cute and was very interested and diligent about assembling the kit. It particularly helped her learn to follow instructions. The fact that this little robot can determine the direction of sound waves is amazing. If one person is behind the robot and another person is at another angle, the robot will decide where the audio clapping sound is coming from and turn towards the sound. Once the robot understands where the sound is coming from it will make short movements towards the person who is clapping. Continuing to clap or snap your fingers will cause the robot to continue moving towards the sound. I hope I can figure out how to program the robot for myself and help my daughter learn how to write a program. The IC chip "brain" is removable from the socket.

Follow me robot kit . Purchased this for my 10 yo son's robotics project for him to get a feel for electronics. The description said it was the solder version, however it was not. Other than that he learned a lot about motors and how they work along with sensors. It did what we wanted it to do.

Elenco Follow Me Rocks . My 9 year-old son loves this toy. He and I enjoyed putting this together. I'd have him study the picture and correct him if needed, which was seldom. It was a bit tricky toward the end and required some fine-motor dexterity. But the finished product works like a charm. As to surfaces, hard-wood floors or linoleum are best, though some short carpets may well tolerate the not-too tall wheels. Also clap down at the toy's level (and within a yard) to get it to turn into the correct direction. When my son stood and clapped, the robot would not turn. I enjoyed snapping my fingers to get it to turn. Additionally, I used a pocket knife to shave off the nibs left over after removing the plastic parts from the discardable "tree" to which they were molded.

Fun Geodes . Kids had a lot of fun cracking open the geodes. They are not as easy to crack as the instructions indicate but tapping evenly all the way around the center works well.

my 5 year old loves it-needs help from adults to open . not as easy to open as it makes it out to be on the box, but otherwise awesome. got some quartz, smokey quartz, and some with blue agate in them. very neat stuff and fun to collect

Great Crystals and Tons for Fun! . My family loved this product. My son and I cracked them open together and we found the geodes really easy to get into. We've cracked open geodes before at our local rock shop and thought that the crystals inside these ones were way nicer then any others we've opened. Our geodes had calcite, quartz, and even a little bit of purple amethyst inside. Tons of fun and a great addition to my son's rock collection. Family approved!

Geodes all the same.. . The box has geodes with slightly purple, blue and greenish tints to them. My son and I assumed the geodes would be different once cracked open. All six were grey and white crystals inside. My husband had to smash each geode with a hammer because it was way too difficult for my son to do himself. The "gentle tap" is definitely more like a major smash...
The safety goggles that came with the kit were very nice. And looking at the geodes under a magnifying glass was pretty cool. But since each of them were basically the same it is a big dissapointment.

Cons Review

Misleading photo and low quality equipment . I bought this scale because it looked like it was more accurate than others in the price range. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that this one listed ounces and the others listed grams. It is a .1 gram scale like the others.

Although pictured with a calibration weight, it does not come with one. The description doesn't list one, but I was still a bit surprised. This is made worse by the fact that the directions require that you have a calibration weight to set up the scale. So, I'm stuck using the factory calibration and hoping for the best. The calibration issue is made even worse by the fact that it "uncalibrates" itself if you pick it up. You can pick it up and set it back down, and the empty scale may read 3.8 grams. Right now, I'm simply taring it each time to bring it back to 0.0.

Finally, the directions said nothing about how to open the display. It looked to me like it slid out. So, I slid it out--and broke the mechanism. You are supposed to push on the side for the display to pop out. I'll probably remove the spring and turn it into a sliding display since it won't stay shut from where I opened it.

In sum, this scale is no more accurate than the others, would cost more if I added in the price of the calibration weight, comes with poor instructions, and is unable to hold its calibration with even minor handling. I plan to keep it simply because I don't want to bother with shipping it back and only need it for some very basic high school chemistry experiments and the occasional weighing of a letter. But, I wouldn't count on it for anything related to jewelry, etc.

Excellent little digital scale . Very pleased with this digital scale. It seems very accurate. It's intuitive and seems durable. Easy and accurate to tare.
