Fun Learning Toy . Bought this for my 10 year old son, after he fell crazy in love with Snap Circuits. We're homeschoolers, so the link between electricity and magnetism required the purchase of several books and at least one hands-on magnet activity. It came today. He, my 13 year old daughter, and my 49 year old husband :) spent quite awhile exploring, playing, learning. It definitely sparked my son's interest in learning more about magnetism, which means it's accomplished it's primary purpose. They had fun, which is a secondary purpose. My daughter feels it was a bit too simple, but then, the kit is not geared to her age group. The only drawback is that there only 10 projects in the kit. They've already done all of them. In one evening. My son will have lots more fun coming up w/ his own experiments and simply playing, but still. If it cost more but offered more, it would be an even better deal. Though I'd absolutely buy it again. It cost about the same as a movie ticket and offers immeasurably higher value. Start with Snap Circuits, though.

Great magnetic set for price. . I bought this for my 5 year old. It has a huge magnet and some small items. It works well and my son has fun playing with it. I was going to buy the cheap set and saw the reviews to buy a more expensive set. I bought this instead and I am happy with it. My two year old even has fun with it.

Very cheap materials . The magnets are actually fairly decent in strength. However, all of the other pieces in the set, that are used for the activities, are made cheap and flimsy plastic. And do not be fooled by the package cover; that horseshoe magnet is not a real one. It's mostly plastic with magnets that slip into the ends. Would have preferred to spend $17 ($7 just on shipping, what the heck was I thinking!) on a large, quality horseshoe magnet rather than on 4 decent but small magnets and whole bunch of plastic junk for lame/boring activities.
