Great gift! . We got this as a gift for our friend's 4 year old. He played with it consistently for the 3 days they were at our house, and he continues to play with it at home. It's great because it has wheels on the bottom so he can play with on the floor, but it also floats so he can use it as a bath toy. (his parents were pleased that water can't really get inside the toy, apparently bath toys get moldy/grody pretty quickly) The package tells you how to combine the pieces to make different kinds of boats but he was more interested in coming up with his own designs - he didn't care if it was an oil tanker or a tug boat.

Nice Boat . I got this for my grandson for his 6th birthday. It is "grown up" enough so that it doesn't make him feel like a "baby". The size is perfect...not too big or too small. I like the magnetic parts, although there is no way to put ALL the parts on the boat at once, and you always have a couple extra to deal with. He really looks forward to his bath now.

Ships Ahoy . My 7 and 10 year old sons, who both like boats & ships, really enjoy this toy. I thought they would be too old for it, but apparently not! They enjoy making different kinds of boats with the pieces.
(one minor problem is that two of the wheels on the bottom were glued (by the manufacturer) so that they are stuck)

Fantastic Toy for the tub! . This is the best tub toy we have found. My 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter love to create new boats every night. We have an old cast iron tub and the pieces stick to the side, which makes is great to store the pieces not in use.

This is one of the best Christmas gifts me son received.

Tub toy . My son is 6 and enjoyed playing with this toy in the tub as soon as he received it. Seems durable and floats as well as rolls.

My son loves it . My son plays with this toy every night in the tub. He builds it to be a fire boat one night and a rescue boat the next.Not all the pieces fit on the boat at once, so you always have about 3 or 4 pieces laying around extra, but it was worth the money.It floats in water, rolls on the floor, and so far has not collected any hard water stains or that nasty black mildew that showers sometimes get.

Great toy. My nephew plays with it every bath time! . Great toy. My nephew absolutely loves playing with his new gift at every bath time occasion. The best thing about the toy is that it can be taken apart and put back together in different ways.

Toy boat toy boat toy boat! . This boat was just what we were wanting as a gift to our surgeon, who performed four (4) surgeries on the two of us this past year. We did accuse him of buying a boat, but he assured us he did not buy a boat. So...we bought one for him. Perfect! It was well received as he placed it on his desk and mused he would play with it later. Heard he is now moving to Florida!

A Marvelous Toy! . What a simple yet brilliant concept! With just 2 different front sections, 3 different rear sections, plus the single front door and rear door sections and 4 wheels, a total of 12 different vehicles can be assembled, though only one at a time. (The box lists only six but by interchanging the car and truck front sections you can produce 6 more, including the otherwise missing station wagon and hatchback coupe produced by putting a car front section on the SUV and sport SUV respectively.) The magnet couplings make switching sections around a breeze! While it is clearly aimed at younger children (3 & up), my 7-year-old car nut had more fun playing with it than his 5-year-old sister did, and she adored it!

About the only nit I can pick with it is the regular price; twenty bucks seems a bit steep for what you get. (I bought mine on clearance and consider it an absolute steal!) If you ever see one significantly less than regular price, grab it and stash it away until you need a gift for a child around this age.

Note: If they could do it for a reasonable price, IMHO there is a market for selling certain parts individually or in an expansion set: multiple rear door sections for building stretch limos, plus perhaps an additional front door section and a set of 4 (different style?) wheels so that 2 vehicles can be built simultaneously. Toss in a van front section and an extra axle section, neither yet created, and you've really multiplied the possibilities! I'm also going to be seeking out their similar Popular Playthings Magnetic Build-A-Boat, which allows you to build 5 different boats that both roll AND float,...

if I can find one at a reasonable price.

2 seconds of fun . Thought this was a great toy when the boys opened it on xmas morning, and it was .. for about 2 seconds! Its well constructed & the concept is great, but there just aren't enough parts to keep the boys interested. It would have been nice if there were several sets of wheels so you could make various vehicles. Wouldn't buy this again.

Grandson loves this magnetic car. Wish there were more wheels and you could create more than one car at a time. . Great toy for children 7 and under. You can create at least 8 different cars if you use your imagination--only one at a time though. If there were another set of tires you could make more cars. My grandson loves to play with this. It is not complicated so it gives instant success in building.

Fun toy for my 3 year old . I'm glad I didn't heed the age recommendation on this toy. Recommended for age 5 and up? My 5 year old finds it fun, for about 5 minutes, but my 3 year old thinks it's a pretty neat toy! I think my son would have even liked this at age 2. I like that it only comes with 11 chunky pieces, instead of lots of parts and 20 screws. Ours broke after a little while of play, but it was an easy at home fix with some glue that doesn't affect the product at all. I think it's a neat idea, but wish there were a few different options for creating more cars. With just one more body piece and 4 more wheels, the kids could create two different cars. Overall, I'm glad we got it for my 3 year old, and he's happy!

Great simple fun! . We bought this toy for our almost-four-year old son last summer. It was a big hit immediately and he still plays with it all the time about 17 months later. True, you can only make one car at a time, but it's fine for one child with which to play. He only has two hands after all. Not everything has to scream to life with sounds, lights and a USB cable! I like this toy myself, too! It is great in the car or airplane. I have since bought two as gifts for other children. They are always a huge hit and the parents ask me where I bought them so that they may buy it for others, too. It's a chain reaction. : )

Great fun toy for younger kids . I have a 5- and 3-year old and they both have fun with this toy. I bought 2 kits so they didn't fight over the pieces, as you can really only build one car per kit. The magnetic pieces fit well together and building and taking it apart are very easy, so no assistance is needed for the kids. They have a lot of fun building all kinds of cars, from short to long ones. It would be nice if the kit came with additional wheels so that more cars could be built with one kit. It is a really great toy for younger kids that is very sturdy and easy to use.

Great diversion . My son is almost three and he seriously loves this toy. The pieces fit together smoothly using the magnets and there are no sharp corners -- overall, solid build quality. We're very happy with this toy and wish it was available in different colors.

Bleck...save your money! Buy Automoblox! . I've seen this at several museum stores and thought our son would love it. I cannot believe what a disappointment this toy is!! Seriously...save your money and invest in a better, longer-lasting, more creative car building toy like Automoblox.

This is a very boring toy. You can only combine the parts to make one car at a time, there's really VERY little "building" involved (you just put chunks of car bodies next to others and they snap together with magnets), and there aren't many options for building different cars. I had pictured adding in doors, mirrors, etc. NOPE! You just take a hunk of plastic "rear car" and hook it onto the "mid car" section. No imagination required. There are seven or so car chunks and four wheels in the box. What kind of building is that?

Another problem with this toy...it's so cheaply made! There's no way this car cost more than 50 cents to build. It's criminal that stores are charging this much for cheap plastic, weak magnets, bad painting, and wheels that hardly stay on well enough to roll the car.

Like I said...if you want a toy that really does entertain kids, is heirloom-quality, and can be combined to form new imaginary cars, try Automoblox. They're slightly more expensive, but they're endlessly more fun, more well-made, and more car-like.

Great for youngsters! . My nephew is obsessed with automobiles and this toy was right up his alley! He loved seeing and making his own creations.

Great Toy for young boys . I'd been looking for a toy like this for a while, so when I saw this, I snapped it up. It has lived up to my expectations. Yes, it would be better with more wheels, but you can buy a second set if you want. My boy is rough on his cars, as he loves to crash them over and over again with his monster trucks. With this toy, he can "crash it," then snap it back together. He likes making different types of cars. He is four years old, and I think has typical dexterity for his age. The car is not so difficult as to frustrate him, but it is very versatile - would be more so if you bought two. I looked at the box carefully, and saw it for what it was, and it has not disappointed me in any way.
