Good weather discovery . My eight year old loves this toy. You can put it outside to measure rainfall, temperature, and to see how fast the wind is blowing. It comes with suction cups to attach outside. Only problem I found was that if it was too windy, the suction cups don't necessarily hold it down and it blows over. That problem is disappointing. Good for science experiments as long as it does not blow over.

nice but could have been better . My seven year old loved this but it wasn't exactly durable outdoors and also the explanations provided for the experiments were a little week. Definitely a good starter point but you will need to do more online research for the experiments to be explained properly.

cool but bad directions and explanations . We got this as a gift. It was a cool idea but the book has poor explanations and directions. We needed to supplement with online research for the experiments.

Without a book it's kind of hard to say.... . I guess this kit was supposed to come with a book.. showing you how to use it. I got his for my 6 year old who is VERY MUCH into science.. We had no real idea what to do with it- and hopefully will sit down and figure it out.. maybe I can call them for a booklet. I think it WOULD be cool.. if we just knew what to do.

Little Labs Physics and Forces Opinions
What a great toy . My daughter is 5 and wanted to learn more about Physics. This kit was very age appropriate and the book had great explanations. Being an engineer, I thought this taught the material but in a simple way for her to understand. The pieces were also easy for her to put together and take apart. I'll buy more in this series.

Little Labs Physics . You know how when you buy things you have one thing in mind well children can dream up a whole new dimension. I bought this for a 4 year old who wanted to know about levers (from watching Curious George) and she likes putting the pins(red pieces) in the holes and removing them with the yellow tool(which in itself is a lever). We have built stuff together. but she can put the stuff together by looking at the pictures. Her dexterity isn't so great so she still needs some help. Her favorite piece is the yellow tool.

Stepping into Science is fun for young kids . I recently purchased Stepping into Science for my son who is 5 and just starting kindgergarten homeschool. He just loves to do experiments and anything hands on and after reading the description for this product I thought it would be a good fit for him. He does really enjoy it and it is definitely an introduction to science projects for his age level. There are a lot of small pieces and cardboard and styrofoam so if you have children younger than 4 or 5 you would want to keep this away from them. We work on the experiments when my son's 2 year old sister is napping so she can't get into the kit. There are a lot of experiments and they can be done more than once which is a plus. And there are also explanations for going further on the experiments like making a large sundial from the small one. Overall I would reccomend this to anyone with a preschooler or kindergarten age child who would like to have some fun with science.

Mostly great! . My 6-year old daughter loves science, and this is perfect for her! She has great fun with all of the experiments. My only complaint is that a couple of the experiments with the boat didn't work. I think it is just too cheaply made. But the book always gives extra ideas for more fun at the end of each experiment, so you aren't limited by the number of experiments, which is great. Overall, a great find.

Thames & Kosmos Little Labs Stepping into Science Opinions
Science is FUN! . I bought this to supplement our homeschool curr. It has great hands-on things for the kids, that the kids can actually do! My kids beg me every day to do another one! It comes with a great book that explains exactly what is going on.

A complete waste . A couple huge problems with this kit:

1) The experiments given with this science kit are only mildly interesting at best and flat out dull at worst. Sticking a suction cup to a window? Come on. My son is five and perhaps older kids would be more interested in some of the "so here's what's really happening" aspect, but for a five year old it's just boring. This is bad, but MUCH worse is...

2) Almost nothing you need to complete the experiments is actually included in the kit. The kit will include one lame little piece, say a plastic dish, then have a list of four or five other things you need for the experiment. Completely disappointing.

Scientific Explorer's Mind Blowing Science Kit for Young Scientists is much more fun. It certainly doesn't teach the big picture science topics that this kit supposedly does, but at least the kids won't get bored and the parents won't get frustrated.

Great for Inquisitive Minds . My niece received this science lab as a Christmas present and has been endlessly fascinated with it. What's good is that she is still using it and having fun long after Christmas. Based on her enthusiastic reports, I give this toy a very high mark.

A lot of fun~! . My kids really enjoyed this kit. There are lots of experiments and all 3 enjoyed it. My kids range from 4 to 8.

Cons Review

How disappointing! . Conceptually, I love this product. I am an engineer, and I was excited to use this as a tool to introduce my 6-year-old son to some engineering principles. If I had paid $[...] for it, I suppose I would have felt I got my money's worth. But for the price, this is really disappointing. Snap some wheels on a cheap plastic frame, you demonstrate "car." Wrap it in a piece of paper, demonstrate "aerodynamics." Save your money for something useful and substantial, like the Snap Circuits products.

Not What it's advertized to be!!!! . The other reviews were a lot nicer than I would like to be, but I'll keep it clean. This is one of the biggest rip-offs I've come across in a long time. The parts are cheap and the box was missing numerous parts.

I'm also an engineer, civil as was one of the other reviewers. I was hoping that my 6 year old grandson would gain some useful engineering concepts and we would have fun working on the experiments together. We'll, no one above the age of 4 would like anything about this product.

SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!

Missing pieces!! . My son is 6 years old and absolutely loves the experiments but we are missing several pieces to the projects. This is very disappointing!!

Little Labs Navigation . Our family homeschools so we wanted to do a Science study on Navigation. We bought this as one of the tools to teach with. The kit has some nice things in it: compass, chalk, whistle, etc. But the little book didn't move in any specific order. Some activites seemed like they should come first but were at the back. It was cute and we did have fun doing some of the activities though.
