Some fun ideas I hadn't thought of . My son picked this out from a national park gift shop. I am always hesistant to buy science kits without seeing a review, but he was determined to have this one. I was pleasantly surprised. The contents are nothing special: a pop gun of sorts that uses air pressure to shoot foam darts, a couple of ping pong balls, balloons, a syringe and some styrofoam peanuts. The experiments themselves are simple. Watch the styrofoam compress inside the syringe as you push the plunger down. Crush a ping pong ball and then "pop" it back into shape in hot water. Fill (your own) bottle with hot water, empty it, put a balloon over the top, then plunge into ice water, and watch the balloon inflate INSIDE the bottle. (The "WOW" factor of this one was worth the price of the kit.) In short, you could do all of these yourself without purchasing the kit, but would you have thought of them? My 6 year old twins had a blast, and really thought about what air pressure means. If you have the time to research experiments and collect supplies, don't buy it. But if time is precious, it's all there in the box.

Ein-O Science Lab - Speedy Marbles . It's a nice little kit, but it isn't much fun.

My 'pro's' on the set are:
- it comes in a kit
- it comes with instructions
- it came with all of the parts
- it is educational

My 'con's' on the set are:
- it comes in a kit that unless you pay attention on how you unpack the contents, you won't be able to fit everything back into it
- our child used it twice and now it's collecting dust
- a few of the experiments could have been done with household items, so I vascillate on whether this kit was worth the money spent on it.

The best in the series - high quality . I ordered the bacterial model along with the skin and virus models from this manufacturer. For the price, I expected tiny displays with the quality of a happy meal toy. I was pleasantly surprise to find a very quality item inside and a very decent size - feels much bigger than the little box it came in.

The model can be taken apart to check out different areas. All parts are made of a soft, thick, and flexible vinyl that could easily be dropped or thrown against the wall often without it breaking. The tail is bendable and it is a very tactile model. It comes with an information booklet that is brief but informative. It also comes with a card that condenses the booklet's info and can be placed next to the model for reference. And it all comes in an attractive storage case.

This is my favorite in the series - it stays together well, is large, and is very handleable.

The only detractions I can find is that the stand itself is cheap thin plastic - I wish the stand had been of the same quality as the model. And it might have been more interesting if the inner genetic material had been incased in a 'gelly' bag to mimic the protoplasm that keeps the bacteria's shape.

In all, I highly recommend this. I was happily surprised when I received this and my daughter loves examining it. The booklet was a nice bonus in that it was just informative enough to be interesting but not overly heavy or clunky.

Great for the visual learner! . Originally purchased as a class decoration. Best visual aid! Great for beginning educators and homeschoolers.

Fun Nerdy Toy . After giving tons of playing toys, like transformers, cars, stuffed animals, etc, my husband and I decided to start giving my 5 year old son some educational toys. This bacteria model is a fun, simple and sturdy toy. It comes with a small booklet explaining briefly what a bacteria cell is. My son asked many questions about it. Because of his questions, we even went to youtube and watched the video clips about the subject.

Fascinante!!! . Good basic model but has flaws . I received this model today and was very excited! The model is not as detailed as I would like, and on closer inspection the details that are there are not very high quality. It does not store well as it does not fit quite snugly. The stand isn't steady and therefore not great.
However, the model is an inexpensive way to educate on cell structure. I just wish it was higher quality.

Making Sense of Animal Cells . While the fun factor on this product is limited, I think it is worth having because of the educational value. School age children and beyond can hold parts of the cell and put it together to see exactly what it looks like without relying on a microscopic view. The pieces are big enough though not recommended for younger children as they do pose a choking hazard. The set is made with flexible plastic and reminds me of the molds you find in a doctor's office. Great for inspiring learning.

Plant Cell by biosigns . I loved the bio signs model products and have the animal cell and bacteria model as well. The plant cell and animal cell model are a definite must for homeschooling. Good model . This model is good, but it isn't designed in a way that you inherently know what you are looking at. I used this for a science club with young children on botany and I really had to explain to the parents and children what is was. The model is very durable and it is educational, but the design doesn't lend itself to self guided learning you would normally find in a model. I do like that it is big enough to truly be able to see the parts and they are labeled well.

Better than photo . I am an exhibit designer for a children's museum. I did an exhibit about the microscopic world and bought several of the Ein-O models/toys to create a display. When they showed up, I was surprised how good they looked. The body of the cell is actually made of colored, transparent vinyl - not solid as it seems in the picture, which is more accurate, and actually looks much cooler. I was able to display these with both the cut-away view and the whole exterior. Would look for other products from the same company for future projects.

The only detractions I can find is that the model doesn't stay together very well so you don't want to handle it too much or you'll be putting it back together often. The balls bump into each other when you try to assemble it and it falls apart easily. Also, the stand itself is cheap thin plastic - I wish the stand had been of the same quality as the model.

In all, I highly recommend this. I was happily surprised when I received this and my daughter loves examining it.
