My 10 year old son is in Electronics Heaven . My inlaws purchased this for my ten year old son who has been saying he wants to be an engineer when he grows up. It's PERFECT! Challenging, but not overwhelming. He's had the toy open now for 24 hours and has already done the first 8 (of 130) projects in the book. If you have a child who's always wanting to know how things work and who loves to work with his hands, this is a great choice! A+

very advanced for a lil electronics kit . I got this for my sisters kid. He's really into computers and models and so why not try electronics. It's always good to know the basics and stuff. This kit looks pretty old, and lame,
like something from the 70's. But it is amazing what you can do with it. It is quite advanced with digital logic circuits. The instructions could use a lil more detail about all the componets,But overall its a great kit.

Could be better . So we bought this for our son for Christmas. While he has been having fun, I am not sure he has really learned anything???Though,he has only done 2 of the projects so far...we will see how this progresses. It would have been better if the "instructions" would also explain why things have to be wired the way they do in order for them to work. Maybe the intention was for the kids to have to research the WHY?About the product itself...it looks really cool but, it is very flimsy. The bottom is really just white cardboard,I did not expect that. Overall, it is a good little activity for kids. It definitely shows them how to be patient and try to work through things if it doesn't work right the first time. So, I would recommend to friends, it is better then having the kids play mindless video games.

Elenco 130-in-1 Electronic Playground . What a great idea !!! Too bad the unit is junk :( Good thing I'm really up on electronics because all I've done is solder the connector on the bottom side to get this piece of junk to work. Very frustration for my little guys. I've finally got both of the units I purchased working good but it took some effort! I've also found a lot of mistakes in the wiring diagrams. Glad there are schematics to follow and correct the wiring diagram for the not so yet future electronic engineers :)
All and all these units are now functioning pretty good for my little guys ... BUT ... this would not have been the case for many other consumers.
