This is another great buy from Backyard Safari.... . I purchases this toy for my son's 4th birthday but I think my husband and I play with it just as much as he does. It has a retractable pulley with a clip so you can hook it to the vest or a belt loop. It has a magnifying glass, a compass and a light for morse code. Good quality, light weight and very useful.

Our compass doesn't work very well . This compass doesn't work very well... the needle will tell you one way is north one minute and another the next... and we have checked and double-checked that we are using it properly.. Ours seems to be just poorly constructed. Too bad... my son still loves it because it looks cool, but no educational value.

Okay . The field compass is a fun toy, but it is not very durable. It last about a week before the clip came off. The kids still use the compass, but they have no way to clip to anything.
