Couldn't Imagine it would be this bad! Read BEFORE you Buy!! . What can be worse than the disappointed look of a anticipating child??
I bought this educational TOY for my little girl & son. Hoping that what i saw is what i should get.
Upon delivery, the package was Ok & intact, but the inside contents shocked me; The Gyro was waiting to be broken with a very low quality finishing and most important of all, it was NOT child safe! the Sharp edges of the outer ring (which was not welded at all) didnt meet & match to complete the circle, rendering the circle rather like a broken ring. i tried to pull them closer, but i felt it was going to snap the other vertical axis of gyro.
The remnants of welding was obvious all over the gyro parts, as dark gray dust covered all the gyro, and it smelled TOXIC!! I donno how these stuff passed to US! I withheld the gyro from being given to my kids till i clean it up and see if it will hold safe without causing them any cut or wound! :(
I said to myself: Ok, all of that might be mishap, lets see if it works! Spin, spin Spin,, and it Wooed and Vooed, and couldnt hold in place or walk the rope as they claimed, although i spinned it with max. force i could (which im sure a kid cant do!)
The black little cone base was so light that the spin force caused it to shake & tumble over (it could have been counter weighed to be more solid and hold in place as gyro spins).
The Prism was ok, good that its edges were blunt.
The Magnets could have been better.. very cheap material, but i like the plastic wrapping, made them easily cleaned. The pole they are held by could have been a bit longer to hold them in place after the magnetic repulsion is demonstrated. If you press the magnetic discs down and release them (As any kid would do with them) they shoot upwards, and get out of the pole and fall off. its not a malfunction though, but rather like an improvement of the product.
What i learned from this experience?? Well,, i should have considered the 2 Stars reviews, and paid more attention before i buy such products. The Gyro Photos are to be uploaded shortly, and any requests, comments, or questions are highly appreciated, and shall be promptly replied.
I hope my review is helpful for everyone who is concerned in knowing the real value of the product.. i hardly gave it 1 star for the quailty!! I would have certainly sent this thing back, but as i shipped it out of US, shipping cost was more than the price of the item itself, and i dont find it worth shipping back & forth.

I will let you all know the final verdict when it arrives . I have read conflicting reviews regarding the quallity of the gyroscope. I will inspect and test(engineering type tests) my samples fully after they arrive and pass down a final verdict on it.
Quallity is an aspect I hold high regard for, and am willing to pay for it. I am sick and tired purchasing junk that breaks quickly or is poorly made, i.e. materials and construction. It's time we had a little pride in what we buy and manufacture and not just focus mainly on a low price tag. Good on some Germans and English manufacturers for providing a good quallity range of alternatives.

Check TEDCO Gyroscope for Lead . Writing this review is difficult because it is based on what others told me. I do not have direct proof, so keep that in mind. I don't want to harm this company, yet, if what I heard is true, the facts should be told. About 7 years ago our company was working on installing an exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. I did not work on the project but but some colleagues did. The project assembles a toy in a factory floor exhibit. My colleagues said that they could not use the standard TEDCO gyroscope because it had too much lead in it and the State of Illinois had lead level limitations. This was before the Feds came out with lead level limitations about 2 years ago. I don't know what the present day situation is for the TEDCO gyroscope toy but if you intend to buy one you should get it tested for lead.
Really good . I am a therapist & bought this pack for my office. Kids/adolescents love these toys (& I do too). Would recommend this product!
Classic toys . I am a teacher, and I keep these toys in my classroom for high school kids. Many of them have never heard of a gyroscope, and they are fascinated by these toys that were old when I was a kid. Classics never go out of style.
Cons Review Close but no cigar . This simple set should have been a sure hit for a young child. Unfortunately the gyroscope was super cheaply made and broken. The magnets were OK and the prism was cheaply made and rattling loose in the box. It could have been an inexpensive and interesting toy that turned out to be cheap broken bits in a box.
Wonderful set of learning toys . My brother gave this to our daughter. She is 5, so a little young. But, she loves the items. She can't do the gyroscope herself yet, but can do the other two science projects (the prism and the magnets) herself when we read the directions to her. We have to spin the gyroscope for her is all.
Cheaply made gyroscope . The magnets and prism are fun. The gyroscope WAS fun for about 15 minutes, after which time it broke for good. The inner spinning section kept separating, and one of the pins broke. Cannot be fixed. I remember the gyroscope given to me as a child, and it was wonderful, providing hours and hours of amazement for me. Too bad my 8-year old only got to play for 15 minutes with his. Cheap piece of junk!!!Discovery Pak Perhaps I should have opted for the more expensive (and better made?) gyroscope.
toy combination . Kind of a cheesey toy. Packaging was bent up. String broke on gyroscope almost right away. Fun while it lasted.
Look! Science is fun! . I bought this to help my children develop their taste for science. And it does it very well. The most fun was the Gyroscope, but the magnets and the prism also played a big part.
Considering knowledge's importance, it has great value to young kids learning.
